Professor Rothstein, director of Sharon’s hospital, gave an update today regarding the worsening condition of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He stated that "we understand what usually happens in situations of this type" and that Sharon’s sons are not moving from his bedside and continue to hold on to their father’s hand (figuratively and literally).

As of this morning, the medical condition of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon remains critical and life-threatening. He was hospitalized at Tel Hashomer Hospital, and the hospital director Professor Ze’ev Rothstein gave journalists another update on Sharon’s condition.
"During the last 24 hours that have elapsed since the last update, we have seen no improvements" in his condition, said Rothstein . "We are seeing without a doubt, a multi-system failure developing before our eyes. If there is any change at all, it is that the condition (of Sharon) is worsening….This is not a quick deterioration but a gradual one” regarding the functioning of his organs. We will continue to use all treatments that are available."
When Rothstein was asked if these were the last days of Sharon’s life, he said, "as time passes and the situation fails to improve, it is clear what seems to be happening." However, he added that "Arik is a fighter who was always known to surprise us, just like two months ago when he came out of a difficult situation." Rothstein also mentioned that Sharon's sons remain at his bedside all the time, holding his hand and never leaving him alone for a single moment.

Sharon has been in a coma since he suffered a major stroke eight years ago, but two days ago his health significantly worsened after several vital body systems ceased to function.

NC Susan....just curious as to why you put this thread under the category of "war." Sharon was certainly a man of war, but he has been dead for 8 years. Sad, very sad, that his family can't let him go!!

Just my opinion...you may have additional info.

Just before his dastardly Gaza deportation of 10,000 Jews from their homes, ultra-Orthodox Jews invoked the Kabbalistic Pulsa d'Nura ("Lashes of Fire") curse against its instigator Ariel Sharon, that he should die within the year.

As with his predecessor Yitzhak Rabin, who was also so cursed, and was killed one month to the day, Sharon was felled six months to the day of this cursing.

The Pulsa's wording makes chilling reading:

"On Ariel the son of Vera of the family Sheinerman, we request permission to call on the Celestials, and to seek that the Angels of Destruction draw out the sword against this wicked man. That they should not show him mercy nor forgive his sins, and that all his good deeds be forgotten. And also on the sinners that are his accomplices. As it says: "The righteous will rejoice when he sees vengeance, he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked" (Psalm 58). For his having betrayed and been responsible for the death of his brothers and for attempting to hand over to our enemies the Sons of Ishmael, the Land of Israel. May the anger of the Lord be stengthened against him, may he be accursed, his name be erased, and may he die!".

The curse is generally said to work within 30 days, but is effective for one year. If the cursers themselves are found to be unworthy, the curse will rebound on them. Others claimed to have falled victim to the Pulsa include Leon Trotsky, Jerusalem Mayor Gershon Agron, Poalei Aguda leader Benjamin Minz, Jaffa buidling magnate Eyal Ragonis, and of course Yitzhak Rabin.

Condition defined as "Critical...with immediate danger to his life"

Former Israel PM Ariel Sharon, 85, remains critical amid slow deterioration of organs

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon remains in a critical condition, according to Monday’s medical bulletin.

“On one hand there is stability of his cardio-vascular system. On the other hand we see a slow deterioration of the function of his other organs. So we still define his situation as critical with immediate danger to his life,” said Professor Zeev Rotstein, director of the Sheba Medical Centre.

Ariel Sharon, 85, has been in a vegetative state since he suffered the second of two strokes eight years ago.

During his military and political career he was a highly controversial figure among many factions both inside and beyond Israel.

What horseshit!! How does the death of this old, corrupt, murderous, fat, Jew fit into any kind of end-time scenario?!
You've been reading too much doom and black helicopter crap.

Hi ST:

Some of here do NOT consider this "horseshit" or "crap", nor do we hold the general opinion you do (as expressed in the past) of Jewish people in general, and may not hold the opinion of this Jewish person ("old, corrupt, murderous, fat, Jew"), nor does the topic under discussion really have "anything" to do with what kind of man Ariel Sharon was.

We (some of us) "do" put stock into prophecy--especially when given by a very aged, and very respected, high-ranking Jewish rabbi, who at the end of his life was apparently asked God to reveal to him who the Messiah was, and was granted that request----identifying Him as "Yeshua"---a monumental statement for an Oxthodox rabbi.

This same rabbi, in his statements about this vision in which the Messiah revealed Himself to him, was told that the Messiah would return shortly AFTER THE DEATH OF Ariel Sharon.

THAT is why this topic interests us so much.

If you would like to DISCUSS (see below) this, see below.

If you simply want to make FUN of and PUT DOWN those of us who ARE discussing it, please don't trouble yourself to repeat ad infinitum that we are all fools--even if you are quite sure that you are indubitably right about that.

Again, see below.

Shakespeare Quick Quotes

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

- Hamlet (1.5.167-8), Hamlet to Horatio

your philosophy ] i.e., philosophy (or learning) in general.

The emphasis here should be on "dreamt of", as Hamlet is pointing out how little even the most educated people can explain.

One can imagine happier times when Hamlet and Horatio, studying together at Wittenberg, engaged in heated philosophical debates.

Shakespeare does not expand on the specific nature of Horatio's philosophy, and in the First Folio (1623), the text actually reads "our philosophy." Some editors, such as Dyce, White and Rowe, choose to use "our" instead of "your" (as found in Q2), believing Hamlet is speaking in general terms about the limitations of human thought.

For much more on this passage, please see the full explanatory notes for Hamlet.

Really? Last I checked, this country is overrun with people who don't give a crap about any of this sort of thing.

Is it crap? You have an old rabbi who was the spiritual leader of the jews for a long time.... who claims to have seen the Messiah... and puts his notes on paper. The jews typically are outraged over this- calling it a mistake.... and like you, crap. But is it crap?

The rapture crowd has been saying that any time could be the return of Messiah for rapturing the church. This position is not supported by the bible, but it has become a mainstream tale among many big names (of deceived deceivers). The "prophecy" of Kaduri stood against the rapture cult, and still does.... until Sharon is dead and buried.

Many of us sense the end is near. Even unbelievers know something odd is happening. As one poster said, this is another DOT.

Plus, the rapture has NOTHING to do with this thread (sorry, NC Susan) if we are just discussing the topic title, which is Ariel Sharon's medical state and what the Rabbi said regarding Ariel Sharon's death. It was other people (quoted by NC Susan) who brought the Rapture into this, but the Rabbi HIMSELF only said that "Yeshua" is the Messiah and that He would return "after the death of Ariel Sharon."

Now, ST, if you believe that Jesus cannot possibly reveal himself to a devout Jewish rabbi seeking Him, as He did to Paul, or if you do not believe that Jesus "is" returning at all---then there is no point your being on this thread, since THAT--and ONLY THAT--is what we here are all excited about. If you believe those two beliefs are "horseshit" and are "ruining this country" because they are "not reality", there are MANY people here on the forum who would disagree with your OPINION on those two matters.

Please allow us to have our discussion in peace, and allow others to hold a different OPINION than yourself without having to chime in every few posts to tell us all that what we believe in is "horseshit."

Now, ST, if you believe that Jesus cannot possibly reveal himself to a devout Jewish rabbi seeking Him, as He did to Paul,

Saul/Paul was an agent of Rome.
Suddenly he transforms from a tax collector into a follower of Jesus--when Jesus miraculously appears to him on the road?!
Yeah right!
Actually Paul was the Benny Hinn of that era... and he actually may have fooled all the other apostles.
What he did was to kick off a long term Roman plan to Christianize the Empire--the Roman way.

As for some old Rabbi seeing a vision--it's pure horseshit.

What this Rabbi Prophesy crap really is, is clever Israelii propaganda aimed at the Christian community here.

Ok, ST, you've just proved with this that

1. You do not believe the Bible
2. You apparently do not even KNOW the Bible, since you are apparently confusing Paul with Matthew, the tax collector who was one of the original 12 apostles and who wrote the Gospel that bears his name. PAUL, formerly "SAUL", of Tarsus, came of a family that were TENT-MAKERS by trade, but studied the Jewish Law under Gamaliel and was a PHARISEE, which would mean he was a religious official qualified to judge on the basis of Jewish law--sort of an equivalency to an attorney these days, or somewhere between and attorney and a professor of the law.

and again, your WHOLE disagreement with this thread seems to be :

1. YOU PERSONALLY do not believe the "religious points" (most of which YOU keep raising) of this discussion
2. YOU PERSONALLY believe that, since YOU do not believe them, WE should not the right to discuss them.

I now agree with earlier posters and petition the mods to treat ST THE SAME AS ANY OTHER MEMBER WHO LONG AGO WOULD HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM THIS THREAD FOR TROLLING. He has NOTHING of substance to add to the discussion---his ENTIRE argument is "I think your discussion is stupid because I do not AGREE with your beliefs; therefore you should STOP discussing it because I think it is stupid."

Here are Paul's credentials, based on his own words:

Philippians 3: If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.

And here is Paul's testimony when he was on trial for his life before the Judean King Agrippa and the Roman governor Festus:

1Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You have permission to speak for yourself.”

So Paul motioned with his hand and began his defense: 2“King Agrippa, I consider myself fortunate to stand before you today as I make my defense against all the accusations of the Jews, 3and especially so because you are well acquainted with all the Jewish customs and controversies. Therefore, I beg you to listen to me patiently.

4“The Jewish people all know the way I have lived ever since I was a child, from the beginning of my life in my own country, and also in Jerusalem. 5They have known me for a long time and can testify, if they are willing, that I conformed to the strictest sect of our religion, living as a Pharisee. 6And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our ancestors that I am on trial today. 7This is the promise our twelve tribes are hoping to see fulfilled as they earnestly serve God day and night. King Agrippa, it is because of this hope that these Jews are accusing me. 8Why should any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead?

9“I too was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. 10And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the Lord’s people in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them. 11Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. I was so obsessed with persecuting them that I even hunted them down in foreign cities.

12“On one of these journeys I was going to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. 13About noon, King Agrippa, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around me and my companions. 14We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic,a ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

15“Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’

“ ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. 16‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. 17I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

19“So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven. 20First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds. 21That is why some Jews seized me in the temple courts and tried to kill me. 22But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen— 23that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles.”

24At this point Festus interrupted Paul’s defense. “You are out of your mind, Paul!” he shouted. “Your great learning is driving you insane.”

25“I am not insane, most excellent Festus,” Paul replied. “What I am saying is true and reasonable. 26The king is familiar with these things, and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner. 27King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do.”

Best part about ST is that he get's the brain working, people are way to literal in this day and age, I'm as religious as anyone on this thread but the fact he challenges the status quo and gets the blood flowing makes him a valuable asset to this board, granted on occasion he could choose his words better but man oh man are there some thin skins in this day in age when it comes to religion.

Religion is faith no one knows the truth until they're dead, people get way to over sensetive about religion, it should be an individual's choice, stop wearing it on your sleeves...

Doctors say former Israel PM Ariel Sharon's condition will likely 'get worse and worse

JERSUSALEM – The medical condition of Israel's former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is deteriorating further and only "a miracle" could stop the decline, the head of the hospital treating him said Monday.

Dr. Zeev Rotstein, director of the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv, said the comatose Sharon remained in a life-threatening condition.

"Unless there is a turn on the level of a miracle, his condition will get worse and worse from day to day," Rotstein told reporters at the hospital.

He said that though doctors managed to stabilize some of Sharon's bodily functions, several vital organs, including his kidneys, are still in a decline.

Sharon, 85, has been in a coma for eight years after a devastating stroke incapacitated him at the peak of his political power.

The hospital announced last week his health had dramatically worsened.

Sharon was one of Israel's most iconic and controversial figures and his career stretched across Israel's 65-year history.

As one of Israel's most famous generals, he was known for bold tactics and an occasional refusal to obey orders. As a politician, he became known as "the bulldozer" -- a man contemptuous of his critics while also capable of getting things done.

He was elected prime minister in 2001.

Pope Francis announces plans to visit Middle East in May

By ERIC J. LYMAN

Pontiff says will make trip to Israel, Jordan, Palestinian territories May 24-26; trip will be 4th-ever papal visit to Israel.

VATICAN CITY – The Vatican confirmed on Sunday that Pope Francis would visit Israel this year, which would make him only the fourth pontiff to visit the Holy Land in the modern era.

The visit comes during a period of dramatic outreach for the Roman Catholic Church under Francis – not only to other faiths but also to groups often marginalized by the church in the past – and fairly early in Francis’s papacy. Francis will have been pope for just over 14 months when he travels to Israel, Jordan and the West Bank on May 24-25. Only Paul VI, who became the first modern pope to visit Jerusalem six months into his papacy in 1964, made such a trip so early in his reign. But Paul’s trip came before the Vatican even recognized Israel as a sovereign state.

Pope John Paul II visited Israel in 2000 and Pope Benedict XVI made the trip in 2009.

“It’s less newsworthy now that the pope will travel to Israel and Palestine than it was a generation ago, but it is also significant to note it comes very early in his papacy, which I think shows it is a high priority,” said the Rev. Alistair Sear, a retired church historian. “John Paul traveled more than any pope in history and he did a great deal to bring Jews and Catholics closer, but he didn’t go to Israel until the 22nd year of his papacy.”

The trip will likely be Francis’s second foreign trip as pope, following a visit to Brazil for World Youth Day last July.

The pope “is very welcome in Israel and he will be greeted as warmly as his predecessors were,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said Sunday.

Francis announced the plans during his Angelus blessing in St. Peter’s Square Sunday morning.

But the trip has been rumored since early October, when Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi said a visit to the Holy Land was a “possibility” for 2014 and Rabbi Abraham Skorka in Buenos Aires, a long-time friend of Francis, said the pope had a “life-long dream” to visit Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Even as a priest, bishop, or cardinal, Mario Jose Bergoglio – who became Pope Francis last March – never visited Israel.

Francis told the crowd gathered in St. Peter’s Square in rainy weather that he announced the trip to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Amman “in the climate of joy that is typical of the Christmas season.”

Until that moment, the Vatican steadfastly refused to confirm speculation about a papal trip to Israel, even after President Shimon Peres formally invited him to make the journey last April and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu repeated the invitation five weeks ago.

The trip will come four months after the 50th anniversary of Paul VI’s half day visit to Jerusalem, which included a historic summit with Ecumenical Patriarch Atengora, the spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians. The Vatican said Sunday that the current Orthodox patriarch, Bartholomew, will join Francis to celebrate Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

Francis is also expected to renew the Vatican’s long-standing call for peace between Israel and Palestine, according to Vatican news sources, though the Vatican also tried to play down the geopolitical aspects of the trip, saying in a statement the trip was aimed at “spreading and promoting love, cooperation, and peace.”

With the official confirmation of the trip, attention will now turn toward figuring out the details of the visit including security issues. Vatican officials have said security has become an increased area of concern since Francis took office, since he is prone to break from his planned agendas and he thrives in large crowds.

In less than 10 months as pope, Francis has become one of the most recognizable figures on the planet, earning accolades including being named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year.”

He is credited with helping to reform the church’s somewhat tarnished image, sparking a surge in church attendance worldwide and even a new wave of tourism to Rome and the Vatican city state. He has also started a period of outreach in the church, taking steps to improve relations with other faiths as well as to often marginalized groups within the church, including women, homosexuals and divorced Catholics.

During his visit to Rome last year, Peres praised the gradual thawing of once icy relations between Israel and the Vatican, declaring that relations between the two states were “now at their best in the last 2,000 years.”

Isn't he like 80 years old now??? How's about we let him die a natural death.
This. They should have let him go eight years ago when he had the massive stroke that they knew caused major brain damage. It is major cruelty to keep someone who is 85 years old with no hope of recovery alive on life support and not what Ariel Sharon would have wanted, I am sure.
