New York Times Blames Evangelical Christians for Coronavirus

The New York Times published an op-ed Friday that blamed evangelical Christians for the coronavirus pandemic.
The argument, by journalist and author Katherine Stewart, is that because religious voters supported Trump, that means he governs without regard for science.

Stewart also claims that Republicans, more than Democrats, are likely to deny science.
In her op-ed, titled “The Road to Coronavirus Hell Was Paved by Evangelicals,” she writes:
Donald Trump rose to power with the determined assistance of a movement that denies science, bashes government and prioritized loyalty over professional expertise. In the current crisis, we are all reaping what that movement has sown.
At least since the 19th century, when the proslavery theologian Robert Lewis Dabney attacked the physical sciences as “theories of unbelief,” hostility to science has characterized the more extreme forms of religious nationalism in the United States.
She then goes on to provide several quotes from pastors who pushed back against the idea of closing their churches.
Stewart admits: “By all accounts, President Trump’s tendency to trust his gut over the experts on issues like vaccines and climate change does not come from any deep-seated religious conviction.”
But she adds: “But he is perfectly in tune with the religious nationalists who form the core of his base.”

Since the start of the coronavirus crisis, Trump has repeatedly deferred to scientists, doctors and experts in the administration — particularly Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Debbie Birx, who feature in his daily press briefings.
Notably, scientists have confirmed that President Trump’s travel bans on China and Europe slowed and limited the spread of the disease in the United States. In Fauci’s case, he specifically urged the travel ban be imposed on Europe.
All of the Democratic candidates for president opposed those bans.
Former Vice President Joe Biden called the China ban “hysterical” and xenophobic, and panned the Europe ban after Trump announced it.

Quarantined Journalist Really Starting To Annoy Family By Calling Them Racists All Day
March 26th, 2020

article-5828-2.jpg

"WASHINGTON, DC—Things have been a little tense lately in the home of journalist Todd Norbert. Normally, Norbert, a reporter for the New York Times, would be attending White House briefings or other major press conferences, looking for any excuse to accuse public figures of racism. Unfortunately, ever since being quarantined due to COVID-19 concerns, the news writer has been unable to leave his home to vilify politicians for using terms like “Chinese coronavirus”.

Undaunted, he has been forced to innovate and adapt, scouring his own household for signs of hate and prejudice.

When his seven-year-old daughter asked if he wanted to play a game of Chinese checkers, he heroically slapped the game board out of her hands and scolded her: “Mentioning the point of origin is racist! Just call it ‘weird checkers’ or ‘the version of checkers that is nothing like regular checkers’!”

Later that same evening, his wife announced, “Look, honey! I had Mexican food delivered!”
“Wow, Kathleen,” Norbert said, standing up and waving a finger in her face, “just… wow. Don’t call it ‘Mexican’ food! Mentioning Mexico is irrelevant and damaging to marginalized Latinx culture! Call it by its scientific name: ‘Tacos’!”

Norbert didn’t end up getting any tacos that night, and at publishing time was sleeping on an Ottoman, which he calls a "small foot couch.""

There is going to be more and more of this as time goes on. Once Trump leaves office, we can expect that there will be retribution against conservatives and Christians by the Progressives. Buckle up and steel your hearts.

I agree. Trump is sort of standing in the gap for us for the time being. Once he is removed, it will be even worse, and will continually get worse, until the end.

Christians will be persecuted and prosecuted till our Savior returns nothing new. Believe in him like Daniel and even if in the Lions den you will be protected and if it our time to die we still win in the end. Because we know the truth and we will get to see our savior!!

We can’t call it Chinese Flu without being called xenophobic racists but they can attack Christians because they supported (supposedly) Trump.

And then they dismiss all the medical personnel providing information to Trump?

Well...those medical personnel MIGHT be Christian, so they are not to be believed, either. :bhd:
