PLAY New Law: - - Liberals can no longer own pets in the U.S.A. - -

Okay, I know the title sounds ludicrous, even crazy and no, there is no legislation prohibiting liberals from owning pets (at least not yet).

But I am getting very tired of hearing about groups who want to change or create new laws in an effort to dictate how another person lives his or her life, so I thought I'd post a rant about it.

Case in point: Laura Ingraham hosted the Bill O'Reilly show tonight. She interviewed a woman by the name of Hope Bohanec, who is a campaign director for the IDA (In Defense of Animals) organization.

Hope is supporting and promoting a recent decision made by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, which has established a Meat Free Monday program in the San Francisco area.

Laura carefully explained that not everyone shares their opinion and implied that there are some who are afraid that this policy could be expanded into an eventual full-blown ban on meat.

Ms. Bohanec replied with a condescending smile and attempted to convey the many positives of their plan and described how this decision would benefit San Francisco by reducing the environmental, ecological and health problems that they now face (bla, bla, bla).

(IIRC) Ms. Bohanec also claimed that this ‘meat-free’ Monday program would have such a positive ecological impact to their city that it would be the equivalent of removing 123,000 cars off the road in one year. (She didn’t explain how).

When will the craziness end?

Now I’m a pretty easygoing guy. I believe in the old sayings: To each their own, Live and let live, etc. etc. If you’re a vegetarian – I’ve got no problem with that, but I ask that you leave your ideologies and opinions to yourself and don’t try to force them on everyone else.

I learned a valuable lesson when I was much younger: Not everyone thinks the way I do and that’s a lesson that I had to learn - and accept because everyone is different. But it seems that there are certain people that think that they know better than everyone else and will force their way of life on everyone else. They will use any and all data to prove or justify their ideas and decisions (even if the data has been proven false!)

I don’t mean to pick on Liberals (as I don’t know if they are the ones at fault here), but most of the people that I know in these groups generally classify themselves as liberals, so if the shoe fits! Well?

How would the opposition like it if we assembled a group of people who lobbied to restrict their movement or forced them to eliminate something important in their lives?

Don’t they see the dangers in this? Don’t they see the dangerous path they are treading?

This reminds me of an email that I’ve received a few times over the past few years. Here it is:

Boy, is this the truth!

If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

Lot of truth here!
------------------------------------------------------------------

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
(Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

I'm sure we can think of several more examples, but you get the idea!

Wow, no comments, no replies?

Am I the only one who has a problem with this (Meat Free Monday) program being implemented?

Sure it’s only in San Francisco (now), but give them time. They'll soon want to expand this nationwide.

Actually there are idiots in the White House advising the POTUS that believe meat and hunting should be outlawed and that animals should have the right to sue humans for abuse. That is the kind of warped individuals that are trying to shape our future.

I don't have a problem with people not eating maean on Mondays but don't friggin mandate it as a rule. There are too many rules, too much Government and we need to push back now.

Or wait a little bit until everything collapses from a lot of ridiculous rules and intentional Cloward-Piven/Salinsky programs designed to bring this country down.

I think TPTB will be surprised when the rebuild starts, it won't go exactly the way they imagined.

The word is that we are looking at a one world constitution which will in my opinion be noahide law....consists of seven laws and one of them is prohibiting eating no meat...try googling noahide law and see what you come up with.

Given the way that most of the animals who provide the meat America eats are treated, I don't think you can really say eating meat is a "right" or "freedom" at all - I don't believe we have any right whatsoever to inflict a lifetime of suffering on any creature just so that we can shove a 99-cent triple cheeseburger down our throats. (I also don't believe that we need to be vegetarians, but we HAVE to do better as far as the way animals are raised; meat actually shouldn't be so cheap that you can eat it at every meal.)

But I do sympathize with the dislike of laws that dictate how we live. I'm sick of laws that dictate that some people who love each other cannot get married. I'm sick of laws that dictate to women that they do not have a right to control their own bodies. I'm sick of laws that dictate what adults can and cannot put into their own bodies. I'm sick of laws that commodify those things that really belong to ALL of us - the commons - and allow them to be polluted, cut down, ripped up, depleted and ultimately destroyed, all so that some corporation can profit.

But maybe those examples are confusing to you, because they're a little different than what you're talking about, in that the examples I relate are actual laws that take away choices and freedoms. The San Francisco resolution doesn't actually dictate anything - it's simply a way to encourage awareness of the issue. If you want to eat meat on Mondays, you are more than welcome to. Stores are free to sell it, restaurants are free to serve it, and there are no penalties for cruelty or gluttony.

Party on, dude.

Meat free monday? I think I will eat extra meat on mondays now. :D

it s ironic how the Catholic church said "no meat on Fridays" as reverence to God, that was so widely ridiculed but now let's do it on Monday's so it is all about the animals and man and we can leave the notion of actually to [erfrom a small action to acknowledge a supreme being.

The comprimise would be meatless Friday's, which My family and I observe for religous reasons, and the others would observe for secular reasons but we would all be united.

I disagree that animals raised for meat live a life of suffering. The animal rights movement has spread an enormous amount of falsehood concerning modern farming, and sadly, all too many people want to believe these lies. They appeal to emotionalism and most people's distance from any kind of real agriculture to promote their agenda.

I will eat meat when ever I want Monday or Friday. When I was a Catholic I was forced (by my parents) to not eat eat on Friday I thought it was dumb then and I still do.
