HEALTH NANCY WRITEBOL / SIMS PRESSER TODAY ON EBOLA IN LIBERIA

Ben Sunday

Deceased
what you YOU think?

I'm not going to question what you said here.

My simple reaction is as stated above. Ms Writebol was not going to take questions and when she finished, I would guess a lot of networks great and small dropped out.

QUESTION: Was any announcement made to the other media outlets that questions would be taken by others if not Ms Writebol?

This is very serious affair...NO QUESTION...I guess my media background makes me approach press conferences and the like a tad differently from other folks.

Carry on, Countrymouse and thanks for the detailed reply.

The presser mentioned tha DWB /MSF has a "120 bed" facility next to or connected with the SIM 80-bed Ebola facility.

I think this is a pic of it:

they just cut off the live news conference (on WSB radio Atlanta---home of CDC)----did she say something she shouldn't have when she said the above????

This reminds me strongly of the time that our first woman Surgeon General of the US Antonia Novello was on tv way back in the early 90's. She was being interviewed back when AIDS and HIV was a new thing.

During the interview, I think they were taking callers questions and someone asked, "Can you get the virus from a mosquito bite?" and she started in on the answer of yes but she only got to say half of the word Yes when she quickly touched her earpiece in her right ear like someone must have yelled in a panic in her earpiece and then quickly said, "No". It was surreal.

It was like she was being fed answers for her to say.

Except for that one caller's question where she took the initiative and got quickly spanked for it.

My mom and I sat there totally stunned and amazed at what we just witnessed being that my parents had been well known in health care in the US and working with the state dept.

My mom says to me, "Well, how then are they having epidemic levels of HIV/AIDS in places like the Caribbean? It's not like everyone from grandparents to children are sharing drug needles and crap like that! I cannot believe a mosquito flys around with a little clipboard that tells them which viruses they can and cannot pass on to their victims! I mean, really now!" V

wow---thanks for sharing that.

That's one of those Freud moments---sort of like Obama's "My Muslim faith...."
