North to the Future
One of my nephews moved in with us a couple months back from a long sojourn in Oklahoma, while his mom went up to work in the Spec Ed class at North Pole High School to assist another sister who teaches the class. He brought his rescue dog, a gorgeous little sweetie he named Karone. Very very shy and timid…but she really trusts me and loves to just hang out and snuggle with me. Right now she is in my face wanting more kisses and belly scratches…and that’s fantastic seeing her warm up like that! I’m caring for her while nephew is up north for a week.

Just wanted to share that after loving close to a hundred dogs in my life, of many many breeds, that I’m loving this new light in my life. She’s adapting very well to the vicious cold, snow and dark and truly loves when I can run with her <3

eta: she is mostly just curious about the ferrets (their castle is in the background) and very friendly with all the bunnies around the acreage. Just a sweetie.

Only worry about what you can control!
An amazing breed all around. They are protective, pack driven (as in their family is their family) smart, mouthy, they grumble and complain, and they have the ability to just look so abused to get your attention. We currently have a Malanois version (very similar, just a little more zoomie)

I’ve now had three German Shepherds in my life: Hermione, Odin, and Aja. Hermione I raised from a pup, but Odin and Aja had “baggage.” I wish I could’ve helped them more than I had/have. Each one was unique, and I’m grateful that I had the chance to be with them.
