It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like it to guide future selections.
IMDB/Amazon has made the movie posters hard, but I have them anyway. :)
Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.
The movie trailers are located in post #8.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is Paper Moon. This 1973 depression-era comedy drama stars Ryan O'Neal, Tatum O'Neal, Madeline Kahn, and John Hillerman. This is an intentional repeat movie, only the second time. This board needs to laugh and be distracted for awhile. This movie will do it. Addie will get to you, somehow.

- During the Great Depression, a con man finds himself saddled with a young girl who may or may not be his daughter, and the two forge an unlikely partnership.

Moses Pray is unexpectedly saddled with getting 9-year-old Addie to relatives in Missouri after the death of her mother. His attempt to dupe her out of her money backfires, and he's forced to take her on as a partner. Swindling their way through farm country, the pair is nearly done in by a burlesque dancer and an angry bootlegger.

The second movie is Spartacus. This 1960 adventure stars Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier, Jean Simmons, and Peter Ustinov.

- The slave Spartacus leads a violent revolt against the decadent Roman Republic.

In 73 B.C., a Thracian slave leads a revolt at a gladiatorial school run by Lentulus Batiatus (Sir Peter Ustinov). The uprising soon spreads across the Italian Peninsula involving thousand of slaves. The plan is to acquire sufficient funds to acquire ships from Silesian pirates who could then transport them to other lands from Brandisium in the south. The Roman Senator Gracchus (Charles Laughton) schemes to have Marcus Publius Glabrus (John Dall), Commander of the garrison of Rome, lead an army against the slaves who are living on Vesuvius. When Glabrus is defeated his mentor, Senator and General Marcus Licinius Crassus (Sir Laurence Olivier) is greatly embarrassed and leads his own army against the slaves. Spartacus and the thousands of freed slaves successfully make their way to Brandisium only to find that the Silesians have abandoned them. They then turn north and must face the might of Rome.

The third movie is Driving Miss Daisy. This 1989 drama stars Jessica Tandy, Morgan Freeman, and Dan Aykroyd.

- The comedy that won a Pulitzer Prize

An elderly widow living in Atlanta can no longer drive. Her son insists she allow him to hire a driver, which in the 1950s meant a black man. She resists any change in her life but, Hoke, the driver is hired by her son. She refuses to allow him to drive her anywhere at first, but Hoke slowly wins her over with his native good graces. The movie covers over twenty years of the pair's life together as they slowly build a relationship that transcends their differences.

The fourth movie is Under Siege. This 1992 action film stars Steven Seagal, Gary Busey, and Tommy Lee Jones. Like RoadHouse, this is a personal favorite action film.

- An ex-Navy Seal turned cook is the only person who can stop a group of terrorists when they seize control of a U.S. battleship.

- The legendary U.S. battleship, the U.S.S. Missiouri is going to be decommissioned. But the worst has happened, terrorists have taken over the ship and are planning to sell the nuclear arsenal aboard. Now, only one man stands in the way A ex-Navy SEAL turned cook, Casey Ryback.

The fifth movie is The Rare Breed. This 1966 western comedy/drama stars Jimmy Stewart, Maureen O'Hara, Brian Keith, and Juliet Mills.

When her husband dies en route to America, Martha Price and her daughter Hilary are left to carry out his dream: the introduction of Hereford cattle into the American West. They enlist Sam "Bulldog" Burnett in their efforts to transport their lone bull, a Hereford named Vindicator, to a breeder in Texas, but the trail is fraught with danger, and even Burnett doubts the survival potential of this "rare breed" of cattle.

The sixth movie is Death Sentence. This 2007 crime drama stars Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, and Kelly Preston. This is a gritty, realistic look at the price paid for vigilante justice. No kids for this one. This is based on the book, "Death Sentence" which was the direct sequel novel to "Death Wish", which was made into the movie Death Wish (1974) starring Charles Bronson.

Nick Hume is a mild-mannered executive with a perfect life, until one gruesome night he witnesses something that changes him forever. Transformed by grief, Hume eventually comes to the disturbing conclusion that no length is too great when protecting his family.

The original novel upon which Paper Moon was based was titled Addie Pray. With the movie's release the novel was reissued and retitled. The movie is not a patch on the book, please do not deprive yourself of the whole story of the little con girl Addie Pray :D You will love it. I saw the movie when it was released, but it doesn't hold a candle to the book.

Tatum O'Neal does a good job portraying Addie, as far as the movie goes, and father Ryan has the wherewithall to portray flim-flam man Long Boy Pray very well. The real life chemistry between father-daughter helps the story along, also.

Undertow 1949 full movie. Scott Brady stars in this film noir crime drama as an ex gangster from Chicago who has gone straight but ends up framed for the hit on a powerful mob boss. this crime film has a great chase scene involving a LONG corridor which should not be missed. the film hits all the standard noir plot points and is a quality picture. - Broken Trout -

Which download source is failing, archive.org or youtube? What is the download failure message?

Assuming your internet connection is reliable, check if you have enough storage space or if a drive is full.

Also, I think you are on hughes.net, have you used the monthly download data allowance?

A bit of Paper Moon trivia: In the movie, when they go to St. Joseph, Missouri, those scenes were actually shot in downtown St. Joseph, which happens to be around my AO (NW MO).

Oh my, I am so foolish. Apparently I used my data allotment up a few days ago; it's hard to tell since they continue to provide service and the throttled product is so similar to their normal offering. So, all things considered, d/l of these went very well :D

I am watching "The Lovely Bones" tonight. Dark show, one of my favorites. It is a beautiful show and 1 of my favorites, even though it involves a young girl murdered. (I'm a Scorpio, what can I say?) The girl who is main character is in another movie she did later on that was just as good, and she's older then, Can't think of it's name. Saoirse Ronan
I just watched Under Siege 2 nights ago!
