Fire Meteor/Fireball crashes into White Mountains starting huge wildfire!

Of course the fire could have grown rapidly by now, but the story at the video said the fire was 20-25 acres. Which I wouldn't exactly call huge, but maybe easterners have a different definition of "huge." Technically it was a "meteorite" since it pretty much had to hit the ground to start a fire -- it would be extremely unlikely for it to have exploded a few hundred feet off the ground. As big as the fireball appeared, I'd be surprised if it were much bigger than a softball by the time it hit the ground.

Just watched one go down in the woods behind our place tonight. I was dumbfounded and will go hunt for signs of it when it gets light out and the temps rise.

Unless you saw it pass in front of a known landmark near you, be aware that people often wildly overestimate how close meteor trails are and therefore where the meteorite might have landed. But I hope you have good hunting as well!

Be careful, we were just talking about the movie The Blob last night. I think that was the first horror movie that I saw on TV.
