Country exile in the city
Even though there's another thread on the death of Tyre Nichols (see CRIME - 5 Memphis officers fired over death of Tyre Nichols ) I think this deserves its own thread because it's breaking news and apparently officials are "EXPECTING" trouble--TONIGHT--in a number of American cities, in regard to the death of Tyre Nichols.
The Body-Cam of the police officers arrest / beating of Tyre Nichols is supposed to be released today, and that is apparently what authorities fear will trigger (chimp-outs) riots and violence tonight.
Apparently, per news reports I'm hearing on WSB radio and on conservative talk shows (listening right now to Mike Gallegher)--
cities in America are "bracing" for violence tonight in regard to the recent 2nd-Degree Murder charge of 5 (black) police officers in Memphis for the beating and susbsequent death of Tyre Nichols.
Commentators on talk radio are discussing how, since all 5 officers involved were black as well as the suspect, they can't blame it on "racism", but general anti-police "demonstrations" are expected this weekend--and by all accounts are expected to be violent.
Even though this happened in Tennessee, for some reason officials here in Atlanta, Georgia, are pleading for "calm" but are apparently expecting things to turn violent. Gov. Kemp (per reports I've heard) has not yet called out the National Guard but is completely willing to do so if necessary. (WHY do they have to protest anywhere but Memphis, where this happened?)
