POL McCain: I ‘Don’t See How It Matters’ That I Don’t Know The Price Of Gas"

Who will McCain "choose"for vice-pres? This is an important choice as McCain has had serious bouts with a deadly form of cancer (repeated surgeries to have melanomas removed off of his head). He may or may not last a full 4 year term and this person could easily end up as president.

Ender: What if nobody voted?
G-Man: Not much as the electoral voters would still vote for the person they had pledged to support.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe the Electoral College would be invalid w/o the popular vote first.

Who was the politico who was totally baffled at the supermarket when they scanned items?

I guess it had been so long since they bought anything themselves they'd never seen the laser price scanners that have been in widespread use for 10 or more years.

No technically you are not wrong. It is just that citizens of the United States do not directly vote for the president and vice-president.

Voters indirectly vote for presidential and vice presidential candidates by voting for correspondingly pledged electors.

While electors are theoretically free to vote for the candidate of their choice, in practice they pledge to vote for specific candidates.

Candidates with less than a plurality of the nationwide popular vote can win a Presidential election. This has happened on several occasions in American history. The election of George W. Bush being one of them.
