SACRAMENTO, CA - Mayor Kevin Johnson announced today that the Sacramento Hometown Heroes Parade honoring Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone will be held next Friday, September 11th, at 12:00 pm on the Capitol Mall.

Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler are being recognized for thwarting a terrorist attack on August 21, on a train heading from Amsterdam to Paris. The three friends have been celebrated around the world for their actions, including receiving the Legion of Honour from French President Francois Hollande.

“Our community has been anxiously awaiting the return of our three hometown heroes –Anthony, Alek and Spencer – so that we can celebrate and honor their incredible courage,” said Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. “It’s fitting that we’re having this event on September 11th. What better way to remember the victims and sacrifices that were made on that tragic day and to celebrate the strength and character of our country.”

The Mayor’s Office, Governor’s Office, California Legislature, United States Air Force, and the National Guard are working together on parade details. The date and time of the parade were selected because of the limited time that all three heroes will be in Sacramento together. While celebrating the bravery of these young men, the parade will also honor the victims of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.

“As first responders, we know the danger that those three young men faced when they charged the terrorist on the train headed for Paris,” said Brian Rice, President of Firefighters, Local 522. “We couldn't think of a more perfect day to honor their heroism than on September 11 when we commemorate the victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.”

More details will be released over the coming days. The event will highlight the best of our community and our country.

my comment: I would not have chosen 9/11 as a date to honor these 3 heroes who thwarted and islamic terrorist attack as I believe it will provide a target too big to ignore by the local jihadis.

Like Obama, Johnson would never pass up a photo op and take credit for it all. These "heros" have run the course now, just let them be.
