***My interjection: AGAIN, we have a major fire at a plant/warehouse. Walmart, Home Depot, and others I'm sure, now this. Starting to have a hard time believing this is all coincidence, though it may be. Frankly this shouldn't be a FOOD prefix but TERRORISM. YMMV***

Firefighters contained a massive blaze at a central California food processing plant that prompted authorities to tell thousands of nearby residents to evacuate Thursday and to order tens of thousands more to stay inside their homes.

The fire started Wednesday night at the Taylor Farms packaged salad plant in Salinas, about 110 miles (177 kilometers) south of San Francisco.

The flames were under control by late morning Thursday, but the shelter-in-place and evacuation orders remained while hazardous materials crews worked the scene, said Sophia Rome, a spokesperson for the city of Salinas.

Authorities initially said they feared the fire could generate an explosion and a plume of hazardous ammonia, but the Salinas Fire Department said later that those threats appeared to be minimal.

About 2,700 people living closest to the plant were told that they should evacuate, while 35,000 more were ordered to shelter inside their homes, the Monterey County Office of Emergency Services said in a statement.

Those staying home were told to shut windows and to turn off ventilation systems “until further notice,” the statement said.

Officials said some people evacuated after the fire was reported at 7:15 p.m. Officials did not say what caused the fire.

A woman who answered the phone at Taylor Farms in Salinas told a reporter seeking comment to call back later for information.

Salinas has a population of about 160,000 people and is in a key agricultural region.

You never know. But my impression is that all of the lockdowns/closings/reopenings/lack of (qualified, trained, experienced, or any at all) employees/supply chain issues/etc. (including loads of severe weather conditions) has created a perfect storm where maintenance and repairs and just simple common sense are pretty much non-existent. Of course some of the conspiracy theories *could* have some truth to them. But just plain negligence and of course the percentage that has always existed of just plain accidents are increasingly common, and much more likely under current conditions.

We Appear to be Under Famine Attack
It’s hard to explain this all away. My very strong inclination is they are prepping the battlefield for general war. Why are we not hearing a peep from FBI about all this?

When I attended sabotage coures doing my Green Beret days, lesson #1 was: Never blow up something you can burn down. As a general statement, fire is easier, takes far less resources, is far more complete and difficult to recover from.

Remember…the beyond the coming famines…all these key buildings being destroyed must be rebuilt at future costs, which are exploding all while “Resident” Biden shakes hands with thin air.

Chances United States will suffer actual famine are growing weekly.

Meanwhile, I am down here in Darien Gap, Panama, watching the invasion of people from 3rd world countries, most of whom have almost no usable skills other than as Uber drivers, of which we have plenty.

I lived in Salinas in my younger years, left many decades ago.

Salinas is in the middle of a massive plain with some rolling hills for mile and mile in every direction. Coastal fog from I'm guessing 30 miles away rolls in and blankets everything. Often with a cold drippy fog. Lettuce, Celery,, Strawberries, Cabbage, Artichokes, Brussell sprouts all grown there section after section. The motto used to be, Salad Bowl of the World or something close to that. Other than the California Rodeo that they use to hold there can't think of much more other than the John Steinbeck's house (the author)

One take on all this....

I can't stand it, I know you planned it
I'm gonna set it straight, this Watergate
I can't stand rocking when I'm in here
'Cause your crystal ball ain't so crystal clear
So while you sit back and wonder why
I got this ****ing thorn in my side
Oh my God, it's a mirage
I'm tellin' y'all, it's a sabotage

So, so, so, so listen up 'cause you can't say nothin'
You'll shut me down with a push of your button?
But you, I'm out and I'm gone
I'll tell you now, I keep it on and on

'Cause what you see you might not get
And we can bet, so don't you get souped yet
You're scheming on a thing that's a mirage
I'm trying to tell you now, it's sabotage

Why

Our backs are now against the wall?
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage

I can't stand it, I know you planned it
I'm gonna set it straight, this Watergate
Lord, I can't stand rockin' when I'm in this place
Because I feel disgrace because you're all in my face
But make no mistakes and switch up my channel
I'm Buddy Rich when I fly off the handle
What could it be? It's a mirage
You're scheming on a thing, that's sabotage

1000 people lost jobs with that Salinas fire at Taylor Farms. This plane crash into an Idaho potato processing facility was on the 13th, didn't hear anything about it.

Gem State Processing - OPC (oregonpotato.com)

Gem State Processing is busy around the clock, all year long, cleaning, slicing, dicing, shredding and drying potatoes. Our plant sources 18,000 acres of Idaho potatoes a year from a 150-mile radius.

Authorities have launched an investigation after a small plane crashed into a factory in Idaho.

Officials say that the plane crashed into Gem State Processing in Heyburn early on Wednesday morning.

Pictures from the scene posted on social media showed that the plane had flipped over and come to rest on the factory’s roof.

Cassia County Sheriffs say they received a call at around 8.35am and that the plane, which had taken off from Salt Lake City, Utah, at around 7am, was carrying UPS freight.

That's Bad!! I consume Taylor Farms products! Or did, I suppose. Yeah, there is ****ery abound. Salinas is huge in agriculture for the entire state. I consider it extreme south bay. It's not far from Gilroy and San Jose, or Hollister. Not a very high populated area. Well, shit.
