PLAY Masks - Today I Saw

Sheer silk scarf here, and only if masking is mandatory to enter the store.
I'm not one to make scene, but I think it makes a statement.

Yeah, I'm in the process of making some that are sheer enough you can see my mouth since we can't enter stores without a mask per the newly passed City ordinance. But, it meets the "definition" stated in the ordinance and still allows me to breathe freely.

I made a single layer thin print fabric mask with thin nylon loops for DH and me. Now the family wants those too. It's easy to breath through, lightweight and no one can tell it's mostly gauze. My young grands will wear them and not complain. I don't think masks do much good at all outside a sterile environment but I know not wearing a mask will lead me to knock someone upside the head so this air mask gives me a little up yours attitude.

Not necessarily directed at you, Grock, but a question in general.

So, with the cloth mask, if I spray it down with 70% alcohol after wearing it (prior to washing, but in case I have to don it more than once in a day in order to keep from carrying multiple masks on my person), will that kill the micro-mold? Alcohol dries quickly, so there wouldn't be a lot of dry time to my way of thinking. It would enable me to spray my mask down and let it dry if I have to wear it again that day.

I am also interested in knowing where you obtained this pic.

I have to say I'm really confused on this mask wearing thing. In all seriousness what is the truth? DH and I are old and have multiple issues. So are we safer with the masks or not? I for one cant breathe in them but on occasion wear one.
I have a difficult time also breathing in my mask...asthma, sarcoidosis. Pain in the butt...but...I do wear it when inside a store, (although there have been only 2 stores that I have gone into,) my kids house, and I have eaten with friends outside on a patio. other that that I don't wear it. Whether it helps or not????varying opinions, even from doctors. If nothing else, it gives me a psychological boost. LOL.

Well what everyone seems to agree on is if you are 76 and already in fairly precarious health you sure don't wanna get Covid 19 and I hope I don't get lambasted by others who can afford to take that chance. You WILL see me in an n95 and for the lame brains who say those are ONLY for medical personnel, I may even start wearing a scarf over my n95 to hide it and forgo their bullsh**. I usually try to avoid confrontational people who wanna tell me how to live but that seems impossible nowadays.

Ain't, we all need to take whatever precautions we personally deem necessary. In your case, you might want to look into curbside pickup or seeing if someone else can get your supplies for you. If you were nearby, you'd be on my list for those I'd help. Not everyone should be out in public right now.

I hope those who are vulnerable wear N95/N100 masks as I do believe they offer some degree of protection. My issue is forcing healthy people wear to them. I would strongly suggest curbside pickup and other options for you if possible.

NCGirl, I have several N95 masks I will use if necessary. Right now, no one in my immediate area seems to have the virus. Most of the Iowa spikes were (again) around the meat packing plants.

I'm trying to get my pantry rebuilt so that I can stay out of the stores for long periods this fall. I'm among those who believe that there will be a 2nd wave and the virus will be worse in September. If I'm wrong, no problem! I haven't stored anything that won't normally get used in the course of a year. I might even save a little money if prices continue to increase.

Regarding molds, mildew, etc. the best sanitizer is the sun. Regular bleach would be number 2 on the list.
Number 3 would be UVC light, for the prescribed time to sterilize microbes.
Laundering will help too, as it physically removes the dirt, spores, etc., but the big issue is the masks are entirely worthless.

Absolutely, completely, totally, and entirely USELESS.

I go out to Lowe's on a daily basis it seems and Food Lion ( grocery store ) couple of times a week.

In NC it is mandatory you wear a mask, but our local Sheriff has come out and said he ain't enforcing it.

DW and I were at Cabella's yesterday, probably close to you NCGirl.

We did not wear masks in the store (but we did social distance). I took note and probably 60% had masks on, 20% had mask around their chin, and 20% with no mask at all. No one spoke/harassed us at all.

Yep, we are just down the interstate. Not surprised at Cabellas. Agrisupply, just up the road? Seemed maybe 50/50 last time I was there. TSC too. My Lowe's is unfortunately in the new up and coming Cary

When the loser liberals try to chide me for not donning the garment of submission, I just smile and explain to them that I'm wearing a condom. And then I ask them if they feel safer now.
This is a blue ribbon post and takes first place

I have noticed that close to half of blacks in stores that do have masks wear them on their throats. This applies most of all to black males under age 30, and definitely often includes store employees, such as at Wal-Mart.

So the cdc says that wearing masks is completely useless for the intended purpose they are required for?
Why does this not make news? (I know, rhetorical)

You can boost your immune system instead.

Take vitamin c every day (1k miligrams at least) and other immune boosters, including antioxidant foods. The vitamin c foundation usually has vitamin c powder for sale, thats china free.

Vitamin C is good, Natural sources the best. Liposomal C second best.
But vitamin D3 is essential. 1000-2000 IU daily.

i do recommend lipo c by livon labs. it packs a punch when you need c in your bloodstream fast.

For sure, natural c is best (lemons, camu camu, oranges, kiwis, etc) But for emergency toxin neutralizing, ascorbic acid will do.
I know someone who is 100 years old. She can still get around somewhat (recent crippling from pharmaceuticals) but has taken about 1k milligrams per day, most of her life.

God is the source of longevity, but it helps to take care of yourself in this toxic world.

Went to UW Medical Center in Seattle recently for a regular checkup. I was wearing an N95 mask, but the receptionist handed me a surgical mask anyway. I objected by pointing out that my N95 mask provided much better protection that the surgical mask. She said, "The N95 protects you but doesn't protect us," and insisted I wear the surgical mask over my N95 mask. Can't wear enough masks at UWMC.

I go to the river here in Norcal almost daily. There's not a ton of folks around at one one given time. I see people kayaking with masks on. I see people boating with masks on. They are sometimes alone or with their mates/family. It's truly insane. Like WTF do they think is out there in that fresh air?

I tell me kids, these are the most dangerous people out there.

It is truly insane.

This isn't me but I have the cheesecloth to make one. But I haven't worn a mask yet and I don't plan too.
