Noteworthy change in IRGC's top brass in #Iran. Abdolreza Abid has been named the new commander of IRGC's Khatam al-Anbiya Construction HQ. He replaces Hossein Hooshi-Sadat, who was only in the post for 2+ years, which is less than his predecessors. 1/2 #IRGCterrorists
During the Iran-Iraq War he was the commander of the 22nd Division Beit al-Muqaddas Corps in Kurdistan, commanded the IRGC's engineering units and was later a managing director in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sector. 2/2

#BREAKING: Israeli Minister of Defense warns about Iran's nuclear capabilities. According to the minister, Iran has allegedly amassed enough fissile material to construct five atomic bombs. Expressing concerns, the minister emphasizes that Iran's ambitions extend beyond a single bomb, as they have obtained 20% and 60% enriched materials for the production of multiple bombs.

Iran’s Raisi meets with top Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials, urges Israel’s defeat

By Agencies and ToI Staff

Iran’s president met senior Palestinian officials in Damascus and expressed his country’s support Thursday as Tehran and Syria signed a series of agreements.
Damascus-based Palestinian official Khaled Abdul-Majid told The Associated Press that the delegation — which included top leaders from the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups — briefed Iran’s Ebrahim Raisi on the situation in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza Strip.
Iran has been a main backer of some Palestinian factions, supplying them with weapons and money.

“The Palestinian leaders thanked Iran for its support to the resistance and the Palestinian cause,” Abdul-Majid, who attended the talks, said after the meeting. Abdul-Majid, who is a leader of the Syrian government-allied Palestinian Resistance Factions Coalition, added that Raisi confirmed to the Palestinian officials that Iran will continue supporting the Palestinians.
Among the Palestinians in attendance was Islamic Jihad leader Ziad Nakhaleh, who is based in Syria, and Khalil al-Hayya, a senior member in the Gaza-ruling Hamas.

According to a statement from Raisi’s office, the Iranian president urged Muslims to “use all their capacities to achieve the violated rights of Palestine and the freedom of the holy Quds [Jerusalem].”
“Today more than ever, the unity and cohesion of the resistance forces, the region and the Islamic world is necessary to accelerate the defeat of the Zionist regime and the liberation of the holy Quds and the sovereignty of the Palestinians over their destiny,” Raisi was quoted as saying.
He added: “We consider the collapse of the Zionist regime, whose effects are visible, to be very close.”

Turning to the Abraham Accords normalization agreements that Israel signed in 2020 with the UAE, Bahrain and Morocco, Raisi said that the Trump administration, which brokered the agreements “forced some governments to restore relations with the Zionists, but what actually happened was [Israel] reneging on its promises and continuing to violate Palestinians’ rights and to commit murder and plunder.”

However, those who signed those deals with Israel have now seen the error of their ways, Raisi claimed. “It reached a point where the supporters of the normalization of relations are facing protests and questions by their own people and realized that there is no other path but to resist and stand against the Zionist regime.”
Raisi began a two-day visit to Syria during which the two allies signed a series of long-term cooperation agreements on oil and other sectors to bolster economic ties. Raisi held talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad and visited holy shrines for Shiite Muslims near the capital Damascus.
Tehran has been a main backer of Assad’s government since a 2011 uprising turned into full-blown civil war and has played an instrumental role in turning the tide of the conflict in his favor.
Iran has sent scores of military advisers and thousands of Iran-backed fighters from around the Middle East to Syria to fight on Assad’s side. Tehran has also been an economic lifeline for Assad, sending fuel and credit lines worth billions of dollars.
Syrian government forces have regained control of large parts of the country in recent years, with the help of its two main allies — Russia and Iran.

With Arab governments that once advocated Assad’s downfall now slowly making amends with Damascus, Iran appears to be hoping to reap the rewards for its decades-long support of the Syrian president with investment and economic opportunities to help alleviate its own ailing economy.

Syrian state media said Raisi and Assad signed agreements and memorandums of understanding related to several sectors, including oil, agriculture, railways and free trade zones.
Iran’s state-owned railway company has long aspired to expand its network through neighboring Iraq and Syria, linking it to the Syrian port of Latakia on the Mediterranean Sea to boost trade. Syria’s opposition and Tehran critics see this as another Iran attempt at growing its political influence.
The deals are important also for Syria, whose economy has hit an all-time low over the past decade, with spiraling inflation, a currency plunge and rampant power cuts.
The last Iranian president to visit Syria was Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2010.

Satellite images show tankers Iran seized off Bandar Abbas

By JON GAMBRELL

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Satellite images analyzed Sunday by The Associated Press show two oil tankers recently seized by Iran off the coast of one of its key port cities on the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The photos from Planet Labs PBC showed the Advantage Sweet and the Niovi anchored just south of Bandar Abbas near a naval base in the port city in Iran’s Hormozgan province Saturday. Their capture represents just the latest ship seizure conducted by Iran amid tensions with the West over its rapidly advancing nuclear program, though it appears the two ships may have been taken for different reasons.

Iran seized the Marshall Islands-flagged Advantage Sweet, staffed by 23 Indians and one Russian, on April 27 as it traveled in the Gulf of Oman. Tehran claimed the vessel had struck another ship, though tracking data for the Advantage Sweet showed no erratic behavior on its trip. Iran has made claims in the past over ship seizures to cover for the vessels being taken to use as pawns in negotiations with the West.
The Advantage Sweet carried Kuwaiti crude oil for American energy firm Chevron Corp. of San Ramon, California, at the time of its capture. And its seizure comes as another tanker believed to be carrying Iranian crude disappeared from anchorage off Singapore a year after being identified as trying to evade U.S. sanctions.

The Financial Times, as well as the maritime intelligence firm Ambrey, both have reported that ship named Suez Rajan was seized on order of American authorities. U.S. officials and those associated with the Suez Rajan have not responded to questsions about the tanker’s disappearance while on a path heading West.
The Niovi, a Panama-flagged tanker, was seized by Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard on Wednesday as it left a dry dock in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, bound for Fujairah on the UAE’s eastern coast. While not carrying any cargo, data from S&P Global Market Intelligence seen by the AP showed the Niovi in July 2020 received oil from a ship known then as the Oman Pride.
The U.S. Treasury in August 2021 sanctioned the Oman Pride and others associated with the vessel over it being “involved in an international oil smuggling network” that supported the Quds Force, the expeditionary unit of the Revolutionary Guard that operates across the Mideast.

Separately, purported emails published online by Wikiran, a website that solicits leaked documents from the Islamic Republic, suggest that cargo carried by the Niovi was sold onto firms in China without permission.
United Against a Nuclear Iran, which has tracked sanctioned crude shipments by Tehran, “strongly suspects the seizure of the Niovi is related to a dispute over a shipment of Iranian oil,” said Claire Jungman, the chief of staff of the organization. Iran has said it seized the Niovi over an unspecified court order in Tehran.
The managers of the Niovi did not respond to repeated telephone calls for comment. The Greek Coast Guard have said the Niovi was staffed by Greek, Filipino and Sri Lanka sailors.

Iran says it’s possible to revive nuclear deal if US doesn’t ‘procrastinate’

By AFP Today, 4:27 pm Edit

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran said Monday that it is possible to salvage an agreement on reviving its nuclear deal if Western parties, particularly the US, put an end to repeated delays.
It comes five years after the US withdrew from a 2015 nuclear deal that gave Iran relief from international sanctions in return for curbs on its nuclear program.
An agreement “is possible both in term of the technical and political aspects,” Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said.

He charged that “the other sides, especially the US, have procrastinated” on reviving the deal, while expressing hopes that they would show “political determination” for a committed return to its implementation.
Exactly five years ago, then-US president Donald Trump unilaterally pulled out of the deal and reimposed sanctions on Iran, prompting Tehran to walk back on its commitments that were intended to prevent it from developing a nuclear weapon — an aim Iran has always denied having.

Kanani on Monday said Iran’s policy “is not to allow issues related to Iran’s peaceful nuclear activity to become an obstacle in the process of Iran’s cooperation” with the UN nuclear watchdog.
In March, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi visited Tehran after his agency’s inspectors in the country found uranium particles enriched to just under weapons-grade level.

Tehran denies wanting to acquire atomic weapons, and has said it had not made any attempt to enrich uranium beyond 60-percent purity, noting that unintended fluctuations may have occurred during the enrichment process.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is moving on the roadmap within the framework of the visit to Iran by Mr. Grossi … and in this regard, practical and operational actions have been introduced and we are moving forward,” Kanani added.

After Ship Seizures, US Moves to Increase Patrols Off Iran

Aircraft, drones, and Navy and Coast Guard vessels will try to send a warning message, officials said.

The U.S. military is about to get busier in and around the Strait of Hormuz as officials attempt to send Tehran a signal to behave after Iranian forces seized two oil tankers.
“We're going to increase the patrols in the neighborhood to ensure that we are seen, and that Iran clearly gets the message that we will not stand for this type of aggressive behavior,” Pentagon spokesman Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters Monday.

At the end of April, Iran’s Navy seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, and days later its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy seized a Panamanian-flagged oil tanker traveling through the Strait of Hormuz.
Ryder’s announcement came three days after White House National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby told reporters that the U.S. would increase its defensive posture in the Gulf in response to Iran’s harassment of shipping.
The U.S. 5th Fleet was already working to better monitor and respond to incidents in the busy waterways. By summer’s end, the Bahrain-based command aims to establish a fleet of 100 unmanned surface vessels contributed by the U.S. Navy and regional allies.
In the meantime, Ryder said, the U.S. military will be increasing the “rotation of in-theater assets patrolling the Strait of Hormuz with the intent of bolstering our vigilance and our presence at this location.” Those assets include “manned and unmanned aerial platforms, as well as surface naval vessels from the Navy, [and] the Coast Guard, to help enhance our maritime surveillance.”

Ryder said he had nothing to say on Monday about whether additional equipment would be moved into the region.
He did say that the U.S. is asking allies to help with the increased rotations.
Ryder noted a Sunday tweet by 5th Fleet of a photo of troops from the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Bahrain inside a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft on patrol over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has “harassed, attacked or interfered with the navigational rights of 15 internationally flagged merchant vessels over the past two years,” 5th Fleet said in a May 12 statement. “This pattern of destabilizing behavior is contrary to international law and disruptive to regional security.”

Iran even tried to steal 5th Fleet vessels twice last year, including one attempt where they pulled two U.S. Navy Saildrone Explorer unmanned crafts from the water and tried to hide them under tarps on their ship.

Iran Guards chief threatens ‘final blow’ against US over 2020 killing of Soleimani

By ToI Staff 20 May 2023, 6:10 am Edit

An Iranian military commander on Friday threatened the US over the killing of Iran’s top general over three years ago, vowing to drive American forces out of the Middle East.
Iran has repeatedly vowed vengeance since a US airstrike killed General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq in January 2020.
“Although the Americans martyred Haj Qassem Soleimani, they received the first blow and now are receiving the second blow, which is nothing but their gradual withdrawal from the region,” Iranian general Hossein Salami, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, said on Friday.

“The final blow has yet to come to them,” Salami said, according to Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency.
Soleimani, the architect of Iran’s regional military activities, was killed in a US drone strike in neighboring Iraq. He is hailed as a national icon among supporters of Iran’s theocracy.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in January also issued threats against the US during a ceremony marking three years since Soleimani’s death.
“There will be no relief for murderers and accomplices,” Raisi said.

Iran responded to the killing of Soleimani by launching a barrage of missiles at US bases in Iraq, causing dozens of brain concussion injuries but no deaths among US soldiers stationed there.
Iranian officials have repeatedly vowed to take further steps and imposed sanctions on individuals accused of taking part in the operation.

According to US officials, Iran has launched at least 80 attacks against US forces and locations in Iraq and Syria since January 2021. The vast majority of those have been in Syria.
In March, a suspected Iranian-linked drone attack killed a US contractor and wounded seven other Americans in northeast Syria. The US retaliated with airstrikes.

Soleimani, who led the elite Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, was credited with helping to arm, train, and lead armed groups across the region, including the Shiite militias in Iraq, fighters in Syria and Yemen, the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group, and terror groups in the West Bank and Gaza.
The US held him responsible for the deaths of many of its soldiers in Iraq.

Air Force Warthogs patrol Middle East waters in response to Iranian actions

A U.S. attack aircraft known for close air support in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is seeing action in maritime patrols amid recent tensions between the U.S. and Iran, according to the Navy.

A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthog” jets are part of an increased rotation of U.S. aircraft and ships in the Strait of Hormuz, off Iran’s coast, U.S. 5th Fleet said this week.

Navy destroyers, Coast Guard fast response cutters, P-8 maritime patrol aircraft and unmanned systems are also part of the patrols, 5th Fleet spokesman Cmdr. Tim Hawkins said Monday.

“Our ramped-up defensive posture is in response to Iran’s unwarranted and unlawful behavior of late,” Hawkins said.

The U.S. accuses Iran of seizing a commercial oil tanker in late April and another one in early May, as part of a series of 15 incidents in which the U.S. says Iran interfered with ships in the Middle East. The Iranian government says its recent seizures of oil tankers were due to ship violations or legal disputes.

Air Force Maj. Daniel Harold, a 75th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron pilot, climbs into the cockpit of an A-10 Thunderbolt II at Al Dhafra Air Base, on April 27, 2023. (Alex Fox Echols III/U.S. Air Force)

The A-10s are part of a detachment sent in late March to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. Since their arrival, they have trained on firing on targets at sea.

In late April, the A-10s simulated a live-fire attack on sea targets during training that included the Air Force, the Marines and the Coast Guard, a statement by the Marines on May 2 said.

The goal of the exercise was to train on coordinating aircraft and ships against surface threats, a video posted on Twitter by the Air Force after the exercise states.

The A-10, which was designed to destroy Soviet tanks during the Cold War, has seen combat mostly in land wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But it occasionally has been used in a maritime role. A-10s attacked small boats in Libya in 2011 and patrolled over the South China Sea in 2016, according to the military blog War is Boring.

And an exercise in 2017 saw the plane flying mock attack runs against small boats that looked very much like the type of fast vessels used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps navy, the online publication The Drive reported at the time.

The jets may be used in other experimental roles, U.S. military officials have said.

For example, the Air Force may try to shoot down aerial drones with them, as the Warthog’s slower flight speed could be an advantage there, Lt. Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, 9th Air Force commander, told Defense One in April.

The service has tried for a long time to retire the A-10 over concerns that it didn’t have a role in modern combat and that it was vulnerable to Russian air defenses. Congress has blocked those attempts.

But in early April, the Air Force announced it had sent an A-10 to the boneyard. That plane was the first of 21 slated to be decommissioned by the end of September.

The service intends to mothball the rest of the fleet by 2029, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. said in Marc

Trump's maximum pressure policy was working, dwindling #Iran's foreign currency reserves to just $4 billion.

Biden cancelled that policy, allowing Tehran to receive billions in revenue that have been used to advance their ballistic missile arsenal.

France condemns #Iran's recent long-range ballistic missile test and said the move violated United Nations Security Council resolution 2231, which was adopted in 2015.

Israel needs to just not worry about world opinion and launch a full on nuke strike against Iran. Take out all their nuke sites, ballistic launch sites and manufacturing locations. Then use neutron nukes to kill the IRRG and their political and religious leaders. The world will thank Israel.

I agree with you, the question is, Will Biden try to stop an Israeli attack on Iran?
Yes. Will Israel ignore Biden, when its security and survival are at stake? No. While Biden, and his Administration exist, they will resist God, neither listening to Him, nor obeying Him. Yet another reason America is not even alluded to, as regards the Word of God.

hmm. I trust them as much as I trust anyone these days. The good lord is the only one who has my back, other than those who're hanging round behind me with knives ready, so :: shrug :: spose my currant motto wouldn't be "trust, but verify" but rather "doubt, but entertain the possibility"

Question is, Ma’am, whether or not you can trust the Jihadi’s? Might not be your life, but someone is going to bit the bullet, if things go pear shaped…
