BOJ, Welcome To The Party

WEDNESDAY, DEC 21, 2022 - 12:40 PM

By Russell Clark of Capital Flows and Asset Markets substack
Finally, the BOJ decides to stop impoverishing Japanese workers.

The BOJ has not exactly raised interest rates, but is has allowed the yield curve to steepen somewhat. There was a time when a 4% strengthening of the Yen would be seen as the beginning of the end of the world. Broadly speaking, a rallying Yen, as we saw from 2007 to 2011 (falling here is Yen strengthening against US Dollar), would be associated with falling 10 year bond yields, or a generally deflationary outcome.

That being said, the surprise change in yield curve control today saw a 4 % yen rally, and rising US treasury yields. You could argue a weak dollar is inflationary causing treasuries to sell off.

However, even more surprising is that 30 year bond yields in Japan sold off, despite a 4% rally in yen. A yen rally should be deflationary for Japan.

How does this all fit into a pro-labor move? Politically wages have to rise, and there are two ways you can do this, particularly for a nation that imports most of its commodities. It can raise wages, or it can strengthen the currency. My view is that politically wages have to rise, but politicians (and central bankers) will come under pressure to reduce all other types of inflation - namely financial assets. The move by the BOJ has been pretty good for my main recommendation - Long GLD/Short TLT.

There was a time a few years ago when BOJ tightening would have destroyed this trade. No longer. BOJ - welcome to the pro-labor party.

How Extreme Has The Dumbing Down Of America Become? You Might Want To Brace Yourself For This One

WEDNESDAY, DEC 21, 2022 - 01:20 PM
Authored by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,

Everyone knows that the quality of education in our public schools is declining. We continue to fall behind the rest of the world, and this is particularly true in science and in math. Personally, I am a product of the public schools. I attended public schools all the way through high school, and I earned three degrees at public universities. And I have to admit that the quality of the education that I received was terrible. If I had not spent a great deal of time and effort educating myself, I would not be able to do what I do today. Sadly, things have gotten even worse in recent decades. Today, a large proportion of our young people are not even equipped to function on a very basic level in our society once they graduate from high school, and that has huge implications for the future of our country.

When I was growing up, kids would start learning algebra before they even got to high school.

But these days many of our college students can’t even handle algebra. In fact, the Kansas Board of Regents is actually considering dropping algebra as a requirement at the state’s six public universities because so many students are failing the basic algebra course…

The Kansas Board of Regents is considering stripping specific university math requirements after it was found that a significant percentage of college freshmen fail algebra, NPR affiliate KCUR reported.
The Regents, who oversee the system’s six public universities, are considering implementing the Math Pathways approach which matches students to a math course based on their major instead of mandating algebra for all incoming students. While many universities require that all freshmen pass algebra as a prerequisite for graduation, one in three Kansas students reportedly fail the course, which could delay a student’s graduation.

Are they serious?

Apparently they are. One academic official in Kansas insists that for a majority of the students in the system algebra is simply “not relevant for their fields”…
“We’re sending the majority of students down the college algebra road, which is really not necessary,” said Daniel Archer, vice president of academic affairs for the Kansas Board of Regents. “It’s not practical. It’s not really needed. And it’s not relevant for their fields.”

I have an idea.

Instead of having our college students deal with hard stuff like quadratic equations, perhaps we can just design a course where they just watch videos of Count von Count from Sesame Street count things.

Or will that be too difficult for them?

If we aren’t teaching our high school kids the basic math skills that they will need once they get to college, what are they actually learning?

Well, one thing they are learning is how to use all of the new pronouns correctly. This is very important for life after high school, because using the wrong pronoun at the wrong time can get you into all sorts of trouble these days.

For example, just look at what happened to one middle school teacher in Ohio…

A middle school teacher in Ohio alleges in a lawsuit against her former employer that she was forced to resign after refusing to refer to students by their preferred pronouns.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court on behalf of former Jackson Memorial Middle School teacher Vivian Geraghty by the Alliance Defending Freedom, states that her school district required teachers to participate in the “social transition” of students in her class who have “‘transitioned’ to a gender that was inconsistent with their sex.” Jackson Memorial Middle School is in Massillon, Ohio.
Geraghty, however, refused to participate in the policy because of her Christian religious beliefs. The lawsuit alleges that the school “ejected her” within two hours of Geraghty telling principal Kacy Carter about her reservations to the policy.

In the years ahead, we will have lots of young people that don’t understand math and science, but at least they will be well versed in the intricacies of modern pronoun usage.

Needless to say, many of them will have to be supported by the government because they won’t be of much use to society.

In fact, the U.S. already “redistributes more to the bottom 50% than Sweden or Norway”.

1671665247125.png

At this point, we truly do live in an “idiocracy”, and every single day we see even more signs of this.

Earlier today, I came across a story about someone that decided to shoot a KFC employee because “the restaurant was out of corn”…

Police in St. Louis are investigating after a KFC employee said a customer shot him because he was angry the restaurant was out of corn.
According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department incident report, the shooting took place just after 6 p.m. Monday at the fast food chain in the city’s Central West End.

You would have to be really stupid to do something like that.

If they are out of corn, just ask for an extra biscuit.

Don’t go to jail for the rest of your life just because you are feeling a little frustrated.

Sadly, today we have vast hordes of young people that cannot handle their emotions, and that is because they have never been equipped to handle life.

But if they can’t even handle current conditions, how will they respond when things get really rough?

Please don’t get me wrong. I am certainly not lumping all of our young people into a single category.

There are some young adults that are doing more than fine.

But in general, we have a real mess on our hands, and our system of education just continues to deteriorate with each passing year.

Texas National Guard 'Border Force' Blocking Illegal Crossings

WEDNESDAY, DEC 21, 2022 - 02:00 PM
Authored by Tom Ozimek via The Epoch Times,

Texas National Guard troops deployed to El Paso have constructed a razor-wire barrier along the Rio Grande and have been blocking people from making unauthorized crossings into the United States amid a migrant surge and legal back-and-forth about ending Title 42, a Trump-era rule that helped stem the tide of illegal immigration.

Acting under orders from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, several hundred soldiers that are part of a “contingency border force” have set up along the river channel separating El Paso from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, with the aim of preventing people from crossing the border illegally.

“This morning, service members deployed to El Paso, Texas constructed a triple-strand concertina barrier near the border to secure the area from illegal crossings,” the Texas Military Department, which oversees the state’s National Guard, said in a Dec. 20 statement.

1671665722711.png

The Texas National Guard told media outlets that its service members are trying to funnel asylum-seekers to designated ports of entry while their “primary goal” is to prevent “illegal crossings into Texas.”

A group of around 75 people seeking to enter the United States through an unauthorized crossing faced off against National Guard members and state troopers on Tuesday, according to the Texas Tribune, which reported that a National Guard service member told them through a bullhorn that they would be unable to enter.

Abbott ordered more than 400 Texas National Guard personnel to El Paso on Monday as part of a “contingency border force” being deployed in response to high levels of illegal border crossings in recent times and the pending expiration of Title 42 restrictions.

Title 42 is the Trump-era rule that has been used around 2.5 million times to block people from making asylum claims in the United States and that has been widely credited as helping reduce the influx.

“The end of Title 42 is expected to lead to a massive influx of illegal immigrants allowing criminals to further exploit gaps while federal authorities are inundated with migrant processing,” the Texas Military Department said in a statement.

Abbott’s “enhanced border security effort” will include the deployment of a Security Response Force that includes elements from the 606th Military Police Battalion, which the Texas Military Department said is “trained in civil disturbance operations and mass migration response.”

Tens of thousands of would-be border crossers have assembled near the border amid expectations that the Title 42 restrictions would be lifted.

Title 42 Back-and-Forth

Texas was among the 19 Republican-led states that asked the U.S. Supreme Court to extend Title 42 restrictions beyond its scheduled Dec. 21 end date.

Chief Justice John Roberts granted the request, prompting the Biden administration to ask the high court to lift Title 42 but give it some time to prepare for an influx in illegal border crossings.

The Biden administration wants the restrictions in place until the end of Dec. 27 if the Supreme Court were to act before Dec. 23. If the court acts on Friday or later, the government wants the limits to remain until the second business day following such an order.

“The government recognizes that the end of the Title 42 orders will likely lead to disruption and a temporary increase in unlawful border crossings. The government in no way seeks to minimize the seriousness of that problem,” a Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyer said in a Supreme Court filing.

The lawyer added that “the solution to that immigration problem cannot be to extend indefinitely a public-health measure that all now acknowledge has outlived its public-health justification.”

Lee Gelernt, a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union, who sued along with other organizations to end Title 42, said Abbott has no legal right to stop migrants from seeking asylum anywhere on the border. “What Texas is doing by preventing people from seeking asylum is patently unlawful and should stop immediately,” he said in an interview.

Before troops deployed to El Paso on Monday, hundreds of people had crossed the border and waited in line to be processed by Border Patrol agents, with many later released into the city.

El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser, a Democrat, warned that shelters across the border in Ciudad Juárez were filled to capacity, with an estimated 20,000 people looking to cross into the United States.

Leeser on Sunday declared a state of emergency in El Paso amid a surge in unauthorized crossings that has left people sleeping in the streets.

He said the emergency measures will allow the city to access more resources and authority to shelter people, adding that the measures would be even more necessary after Title 42 ends, when he predicted that the rise in the number of illegal border crossings would be “incredible.”

Over the past week, border agents have encountered an average of around 1,500 illegal aliens a day in a 268-mile stretch of the border known as the El Paso Sector, according to figures published by the city.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement on Tuesday that over the past week, agents have moved more than 3,400 illegal aliens by expelling them to Mexico under Title 42 or flying them back to their home countries via ICE expedited removal flights.

In a bid to ease pressure on El Paso, agents have also moved 6,000 aliens from the area to other sectors for processing.

“Average daily encounters have also dropped 40 percent—from roughly 2,500 a day to roughly 1,500 a day—over the last three days as we continue to work with partners in Mexico to discourage disorderly migration and disrupt criminal smuggling operations,” DHS said in the statement.

With cold temperatures gripping Texas, Abbott asked President Joe Biden on Tuesday to deploy federal assets immediately “to address the dire border crisis, particularly in the City of El Paso, as a dangerously cold polar vortex moves into Texas this week.”

In a letter to Biden, the Texas governor blamed “federal inaction” for putting the lives of migrants at risk, warning that the numbers of people crossing the border illegally would rise if Title 42 expulsions end.

Biden Says Putin's Invasion "Strengthened NATO" As Zelensky Pledges Will Win "Together" With US

WEDNESDAY, DEC 21, 2022 - 02:12 PM

Summary: President Biden in his written remarks read aloud turned to Zelensky to assure "you haven't stood alone" and that the United States "will stand with you". He said Putin is escalating by targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including "targeting orphanages and schools." A key theme throughout the remarks is the US belief that Putin will "fail" and that Ukraine will have continued "success" on the battlefield with US help.

Biden further pointed out it's been 300 days since Putin launched an "unprovoked, unjustified all-out assault" on Ukraine, part of the "imperial appetites of autocrats".

Interestingly, Biden affirmed that even before the invasion the US was helping Ukraine to prepare to defend itself.

Biden hailed that the Ukrainian military has "won" in the battles for Kyiv, Kherson and Kharkiv. Biden additionally claimed Zelensky is "open" to pursuing a just peace while Putin is not. Further, continued unreserved support was pledged, with no hint of peace talks or a ceasefire...

1671666138367.png

"I look forward to signing the omnibus bill soon which includes $45 billion for Ukraine," Biden said, while also unveiling 1.8 billion of security assistance that includes both direct transfers as well as contracts for future ammo supplies. In total, it will constitute "$2.2 billion in new support," Biden said. The package will include a patriot missile battery, Biden said, as previewed. While emphasizing that Patriot systems will be a "critical asset" for Ukraine, he admitted that training "may take some time". Biden as expected also stressed the "defensive" nature of the Patriot system.

Biden further in the Q&A said that Putin had "strengthened NATO" with the decision to invade.

Zelensky for his part, said he's "thankful" for all that the American people have done, and that this is currently a "historic" visit. He said he's especially "grateful" to President Biden for his strong stance in support of Ukraine. Every dollar of this investment is toward "strengthening global security," Zelensky said. He repeatedly referred to "terrorist" Russia and its decision to invade, based on "tyranny". He pledged that ultimately Ukraine will "win" - and that "we will win together".

Biden pledged during the press conference that US support will remain "for as long as it takes".

Update(10:45ET): Zelensky is reportedly arriving to Washington D.C. aboard a US Air Force plane, according to US officials cited in CNN, after taking a high risk train ride into Poland. White House national security communications coordinator John Kirby said of the impending visit with President Biden, "The President really believes that as we approach winter, as we enter … a new phase in this war, of Mr. Putin’s aggression, that this is a good time for the two leaders to sit down face to face and talk." But this is how Reuters somewhat cynically previewed the visit:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy headed to Washington on Wednesday to meet President Joe Biden, address Congress and seek "weapons, weapons and more weapons" in his first overseas trip since Russia invaded Ukraine 300 days ago.

Surprisingly, the Associated Press additionally highlighted the latest video address by Zelensky, who yesterday while visiting a frontline fighting area in Bakhmut, said the following at a moment Congress is set to to approve $45 billion more in aid for Ukraine in the proposed massive omnibus package:

"We will pass it on from the boys to the Congress, to the president of the United States. We are grateful for their support, but it is not enough. It is a hint — it is not enough," Zelensky said.

1671666351472.png

The US is about to reach $100 billion in total aid committed to Ukraine, and as Glenn Greenwald points out, this far surpasses the total current Russian military budget...

1671666397590.png

And yet Zelensky and the constant refrain of top Ukrainian officials has been essentially that despite the blank check approach of the Biden administration, it is never enough. Apparently even the mainstream media is beginning to recognize this.

1671666446829.png
1671666479107.png

However, over at CNN Zelensky is being compared to Winston Churchill...

With Ukraine's Zelensky reportedly in the air en route to Washington where he's is to deliver a "very special" in-person speech to US lawmakers, it's being widely reported Wednesday morning that President Biden is expected to announce the US will deliver the Patriot missile defense system, along with another $2 billion in defense aid.

An admin official quoted in Axios said Zelensky's visit to Washington is expected to last just "a few short hours," and marks the first known trip the Ukrainian leader has taken outside the country since the war began. He's expected to hold an "in-depth, strategic discussion" with Biden, and the Congressional address is set for 7:30pm EST.

During Zelensky's March virtual address to Congress, via CNN.

The unnamed official further said the White House wants to put on a "big show of bipartisan support for Zelensky" in hopes of shoring up political "momentum" for continued assistance to Kiev, which is also coming in the form of the enormous omnibus spending package which includes $45 billion in military, economic, and other foreign aid to Ukraine.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement that the Ukrainian president's visit will be received with "strong, bipartisan support for Ukraine."

She said "The visit will underscore the United States’ steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes, including through the provision of economic, humanitarian, and military assistance."

Zelensky in the meantime tweeted confirmation while en route...

1671666557078.png

Meanwhile, some initial reaction coming out of Moscow...

  • PUTIN: INTERBALLISTIC MISSILES SARMAT WILL BE DEPLOYED FOR COMBAT DUTY IN NEAREST FUTURE
  • RUSSIAN DEFENCE MINISTER SHOIGU: WE ARE READY FOR TALKS
  • RUSSIAN DEFENCE MINISTER SHOIGU: JOINT FORCES OF WEST ARE FIGHTING RUSSIA IN UKRAINE
  • WEST TRIES TO OVERLOOK NUCLEAR BLACKMAIL, INCLUDING OVER ZAPORIZHZHIA NUCLEAR POWER STATION
  • WEST TRIES TO DRAG ON THE FIGHTING IN UKRAINE
  • RUSSIAN DEFENCE MINISTER SHOIGU: WE ARE FIGHTING TO SAVE PEOPLE IN UKRAINE FROM GENOCIDE AND TERROR
  • MILITARY POTENTIAL OF UKRAINE IS BEING DESTROYED

It will be interesting to see whether Zelensky's appearance before Congress is greeted with the same level of enthusiasm from all corners of the GOP.

2023 Pork Outlook: A Recipe for Fireworks?

By JENNIFER SHIKE December 21, 2022

Of all the challenges coming at the U.S. pork industry in the year ahead, economists agree it likely won’t be the price of pigs.

“The last several USDA Hogs & Pigs Reports have provided a static sow herd with no jolts in productivity,” says Joe Kerns, president of Partners for Production Agriculture. “We are likely not going to produce ourselves out of profit.”

But the challenges producers will face aren’t small. Many believe the threat of a border-closing disease such as African swine fever (ASF) continues to top the list. Not losing sight on biosecurity is key to protecting the U.S. pig herd.

“Absent that, my biggest concern is on the input side – specifically, corn,” Kerns explains. “We are running tight on a balance sheet in the U.S. with everything we know. Insert a problem with production either here or in South America combined or separate from potential demand increase (maybe China?) and we could put a serious hurt on the corn market. Throw in some tilt in acreage demand on account of renewable diesel demand and you have a recipe for fireworks.”

The demand front for pork has been impressive, but the current forecast of a slowdown in the general economy could also become an issue for pork prices in 2023, adds Scott Brown, an economist at the University of Missouri.

The coming year is likely to look a lot like 2022, points out Christine McCracken, executive director animal protein at Rabobank, with historically high costs of feed, fuel and financing costs pressuring margins.

“With nominal growth in production and steady pork exports, hog markets are expected to trend only slightly below 2022 averages. Packer demand for hogs should remain steady yet could slow if retail pork sales disappoint or exports fall short of expectations,” she says. “Any improvement in the health status of the herd or a return to trendline productivity would also limit the near-term upside in the cash market.”

Costs were a headwind to producer returns in 2022 and they will be again in 2023, agrees Lee Schulz, an economist at Iowa State University. According to the Iowa State University model for farrow to finish production, costs increased 27% or $17/carcass cwt in 2021 compared to 2020. Costs increased 18% or $15/carcass cwt in 2022 compared to 2021.

“This translates into an increase of over $60 per head in just two years. Costs are forecasted to remain at, or maybe slightly below, these record levels in 2023. Feed costs have been a big part of this increase, but pork producers use numerous inputs and services which have all been higher in 2022,” Schulz says.

The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service prices paid indices can provide some context, he explains. The September 2022 prices paid index for commodities, services, interest, taxes and wage rates, labeled PPITW, was up 12% from September 2021 and up 24% from two years ago. Higher hog prices have only partially offset the rise in costs in 2022. On an annual basis, hog prices were only 7% higher in 2022 than in 2021. Moderation in revenues seem imminent for 2023. Hog prices are forecasted to decrease 5% from 2022 levels.

Here’s a deeper look at these economists’ pork outlook and advice for pig farmers heading into 2023.

What is your 2023 outlook for the pork industry?

Brown:
In defining 2023 pork markets, I often use “sideways” to describe my outlook. Given current information on sow inventory, it appears 2023 pork production will increase by less than 300 million pounds. My current outlook for hog prices is a decline of about $5 per cwt for 2023 relative to 2022 as a weaker outlook for real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and higher interest rates slows domestic demand growth.

Kerns: I am cautiously optimistic about 2023. Perhaps that is the most ringing endorsement we can have in a practical fashion. As an industry, we often pay more attention to the fear factors and focus on “what could go wrong.” That is human nature, and you have to be respectful of that approach, even if does not make sense from the outside looking in. It is against that backdrop where we currently have summer hogs making new life of contract highs and representing over $35 per head profits for most producers. We do not have to count on hope for our future, we can secure respectable profits right now with a combination of futures, options and insurance to take the economic risk out of the equation. That is not a normal scenario and I like the prospects of our industry to generate profits into 2023.

McCracken: We are generally optimistic on the U.S. pork market outlook as global protein supplies remain constrained, but it will be tough for producers to repeat the level of returns we have seen in the past few years. U.S. pork markets are likely to be under some pressure as consumers contend with the economic fallout of slowing growth and reduced purchasing power. Pork also faces more competition in the retail meat case from increased chicken supplies early in the year, which is likely to attract stronger promotional activity. We are more optimistic on the second half of 2023 as U.S. beef supplies will contract, leaving more room in the case for pork.

Schulz: Current levels of risk, uncertainty and input costs have producers pulling back, in spite of relatively strong hog prices. We are seeing a change in supply―a retrenching of the industry so to speak. The latest USDA Hogs and Pigs report showed as of Sept. 1, the breeding herd was 6.152 million head, down 0.6% compared to a year and the smallest September breeding herd since 2017. Hog producers said they intend to farrow 2.973 million sows during the September through November quarter, which would be down 2.5% from the same quarter in 2021. Similarly, December 2022 through February 2023 sows farrowing intentions are expected to be below year prior levels. If producers do follow through on these intentions, this would be the fewest number of sows farrowing since 2015 and will keep pork supplies rather tight through at least the first half of 2023.

According to the Livestock Marketing Information Center, pork production is forecasted to decline to 27.1 billion lb. in 2023. This would be a slight drop from the 2022 level. The lower production is based on a projected 0.7% decrease in commercial hog slaughter which would more than offset an expected 0.4% increase in carcass weights. USDA is a bit more optimistic with 2023 pork production forecasted to be slightly above 2022 production. Even with the smaller breeding herd it may be possible to see a modest growth in production in 2023 if there is productivity growth, which could come from more pigs saved per litter or heavier hog weights.

As is always the case, demand will be a key focus for market participants in 2023. Even if domestic per capita consumption is lower or flat next year, U.S. consumers paying higher real (i.e., inflation adjusted) prices would help hold the strong demand of the last several years.

Pork export volume in 2023 is forecasted to be down 2% from 2022. The strong U.S. dollar is a notable headwind to U.S. pork exports.

WHAT ARE THE DRIVERS OF CHANGE FOR PORK PRODUCERS IN 2023?

Brown: Weather remains one of the potentially important drivers. Dry weather in key corn-growing regions of the U.S. will push corn prices even higher, while good weather could lead to record corn yields and reduce corn prices from the recent high levels the industry has experienced.

Kerns: We are currently in the eye of the hurricane where everything is seemingly calm, but the storm is on the horizon. The competition for acreage brought on by sustainable aviation fuel battling for acres with renewable diesel production will cause the biggest changes, maybe ever, in how we feed animals. The full impact will not be realized in 2023, but we will start the transition and it will not be a passing fad. Large-scale production increases are not on the horizon for a myriad of reasons, we would normally be concerned about expansion as the $64,000 question. Not this year. The impact of Washington DC policies as they relate to addressing carbon concerns and the unintended consequences therein will drive the discussion in 2023 and beyond.

McCracken: The expected Supreme Court decision on California’s Proposition 12 in early 2023 will add clarity around statewide regulation of sow housing. Regardless of the final court ruling, however, customers appear to be independently moving toward open-pen gestation housing and producers appear to be accelerating efforts to transition. This is a tough investment for some given recurring herd health challenges and a higher rate environment yet follows several months of strong returns which helps cushion the blow.

Nevertheless, the higher investment hurdle and managerial burden of new systems when combined with the advancing age of U.S. hog producers, could prompt further consolidation in 2023. Packers strained by unpredictable hog supplies in 2022/23 are likely to redouble their efforts to ensure sufficient production in order to optimize plant efficiencies.

Schulz: I would be remiss if I didn’t mention all the possible usual suspects including domestic and export demand, any changes in the global epidemiological conditions of ASF, the economy, state and national policy debates, productivity/disease impacts, and weather/grain markets to name a few. More uncertainty likely alters the risk–reward relationship as producers consider expansion. The more risk and uncertainty producers see, for a given level of expected profit, the more likely they will go slow on expansion once it starts.

Ukrainian Ag Minister sees Big Fall in 2022 Corn Harvest, Smaller Area in 2023

By PRO FARMER EDITORS December 21, 2022

Ukraine’s corn production could fall to 22 MMT to 23 MMT this year from 41.9 MMT in 2021 because of a reduction in the harvested area caused by Russia’s invasion, Agriculture Minister Mykola Solsky told Reuters. The ag ministry previously said it expected to harvest around 25 MMT of grain this year. Solsky said farmers, facing a lack of fuel and funds, had left a lot of corn in their fields. These areas could be harvested by spring, but “it means less volume and worse grain quality.”

As of Dec. 15, farmers had harvested 18.4 MMT of corn from 70% of planted acreage.

Ukraine harvested 19.4 MMT of wheat and 5.6 MMT of barley this year. Total grain output stood at nearly 45 MMT.

Ukraine could export 49.2 MMT of grain in 2022-23, depending on logistics.

Solsky said a large area of unharvested corn would prevent farmers from sowing corn again on these fields, with sunflowers a possible replacement crop next spring.

Widespread 'Winter Kill' Risks In US Wheat Soar Amid Imminent Cold Blast

WEDNESDAY, DEC 21, 2022 - 02:45 AM

Lack of snow cover on fields and a cold blast down through the Great Plains and into Texas and the South could result in damage and even death of winter wheat crops.

The coldest air of the season is about to pour down from Canada, bringing dangerously cold temperatures where parts of Kansas could reach as low as -15F. The state is one of the top growers of red winter wheat.

1671671257320.png

According to Bloomberg, citing an ag report via forecaster Maxar, winter wheat fields across southwest Kansas, northwest Texas, and Oklahoma lack snow cover, increasing the incidence of winter kill. Snow cover on fields insulates the wheat and protects crops from cold.

"Wheat will be at risk of winter kill in areas lacking adequate snow cover – most notably in eastern Colorado and western Kansas.

"Many areas will see a white Christmas, although it will be a cold one," Arlan Suderman, chief commodities economist at StoneX, wrote in a note to clients Monday.

In response to the imminent cold snap and the prospects of winter kill, hard red winter wheat futures are up more than 1% to $8.525 a bushel.

Florida's Citrus Crop In Danger As "Arctic Front Screams" Across Deep South

WEDNESDAY, DEC 21, 2022 - 05:00 PM

Widespread cold air is already pouring into the Plains and Deep South. This cold will last through Christmas weekend into early next week and could threaten citrus groves across Florida.

America's top orange juice maker is already battling a record decline in crop this season because of citrus greening, a devastating crop disease, and damage sustained by Hurricane Ian and Tropical Storm Nicole earlier this year. Now a cold blast could damage crops even more.

1671671701557.png

Bloomberg quoted Paul Markert, a meteorologist with Maxar Technologies Inc., who said South Florida could see temperatures as low as 31 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday.

World Weather Inc.'s Drew Lerner said computer models are evolving, and temperatures could dip even lower. He said four hours or more of sub-28 degrees could damage citrus crops. He added the cold shot could cause irreversible damage to the state's cane harvest, much of which still needs to be harvested.

Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore tweeted, "You can see the Arctic front scream through the southeast on the 23rd and the COLD just lock in for days afterward. Protect your pipes even into Florida. Yes those are teens in the panhandle!"

View: https://twitter.com/i/status/1605136842285785094

The decimation of Florida's citrus crop has caused shortages for beverage makers, including Minute Maid owner Coca-Cola Co. and PAI Partners, which owns Tropicana. This means orange prices at the supermarket will continue to rise. Orange juice futures are near record highs.

With Disease, hurricanes, and now cold, Florida's citrus industry is going through a historic beatdown by Mother Nature.

US Media Outlet Has Extensive Partnerships, Financial Dealings With Orgs Tied To Chinese Communist Party Influence Operations

Daily Caller News Foundation logo
PHILIP LENCZYCKI
INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER
December 21, 2022

Approximately 20 organizations that may be headed by members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or members of alleged Chinese influence operations have sponsored or partnered with The China Project (TCP), a China-focused New York media outlet, the Daily Caller News Foundation determined.

TCP recently denied working for or with the CCP after a former employee sent an Oct. 21 declaration to the Department of Justice and Congress accusing the outlet of harboring a pro-CCP bias.

“We must help defend our fellow citizens and lawful permanent residents from pressure — and in many cases, transnational repression up to and including assassination attempts — by the Chinese Communist Party,” New Jersey Republican Rep. Chris Smith told the DCNF.

The China Project (TCP), a New York-based media outlet renowned for its China reporting, has had professional and financial ties with organizations that may have been headed by members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or members of alleged Chinese influence operations, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.

Over 20 organizations that may have been led by such individuals have apparently partnered with or financially sponsored TCP, including the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) and the Confucius Institute, the DCNF found. Both groups apparently began professional relationships with TCP after the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC) identified them as CCP influence operations in 2018. Furthermore, the DCNF found that TCP’s “board director,” Clarence Kwan, may have been simultaneously serving as a director of an alleged CCP front group at the time he joined TCP’s board and provided initial equity in the company.

Kwan did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

These revelations come over a month after journalist Shannon Van Sant, a former TCP business editor, delivered a sworn declaration to Congress and the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Oct. 21, alleging TCP fired her in June 2020 for being out of “alignment” with the organization’s alleged pro-CCP bias.

Van Sant’s declaration also stated that after being fired she “conducted open source research and found links between the organization and China’s Communist Party,” however, Van Sant’s declaration did not provide any documentation to substantiate her claim.

“It is important to me to provide transparency and shed light on my experiences,” Van Sant’s declaration stated. “That is why I am doing this disclosure.”

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and New Jersey Republican Rep. Chris Smith — both of whom sit on the Congressional-Executive Commission on China — recently told Semafor that TCP “should be forced to register” under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which requires the disclosure of service to foreign entities.

In response, TCP’s attorneys at Boies Schiller Flexner sent a 12-page letter to Semafor on Oct. 31, demanding Semafor retract their piece on Van Sant’s allegations. TCP’s attorneys allege Van Sant had been fired for “poor work performance” and had “an axe to grind.”

“Nothing in Ms. Van Sant’s ‘sworn declaration’ comes close to providing evidence, direct or circumstantial, that TCP is working for or has worked for the Chinese government,” Boies Schiller Flexner wrote to Semafor.

Neither TCP nor their attorneys at Boies Schiller Flexner responded to multiple requests for comment from the DCNF. Van Sant declined the DCNF’s request for comment through her representatives at Whistleblower Aid.

‘A Jewel In The Crown Of China Reporting’

TCP — which until September was known as “SupChina” — is a multimedia group that claims to reach “more than two million people per month” through a variety of platforms including news articles and podcasts. Former Ambassador to China Max Baucus — who recently came under fire for Nov. 11 and 12 meetings with alleged Chinese influence operatives — called TCP “a jewel in the crown of China reporting,” according to the outlet’s website.

The multimedia outlet also runs a nonprofit arm, Serica, which seeks “to educate and cultivate empathy around the issues of Sinophobia and anti-Asian hate,” according to its website. TCP also maintains a “United States Sinophobia Tracker” that’s collected numerous articles on CCP espionage allegations, such as a 2020 NBC News piece about the growing number of FBI counterintelligence cases, which TCP tags on its website as “paranoid rhetoric.”

TCP has also published articles and podcasts critical of the DOJ’s China Initiative — an anti-espionage program launched during the Trump administration which was ultimately terminated in February 2022 after the “civil rights community” expressed concern that the program had “fueled a narrative of intolerance and bias,” Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen said at the time.

China’s United Front
In her declaration to the federal government, Van Sant claims to have discovered links between TCP and the China Overseas Exchange Association (COEA), an organization which billed itself as an “important platform and bridge for people-to-people exchanges,” according to an archived version of COEA’s website.

China intelligence analyst and former senior analyst at the Canberra-based Australian Strategic Policy Institute Alex Joske identified COEA as a “key” United Front Work Department (UFWD) front group that merged with the China Overseas Friendship Association (COFA) in 2019 — an organization which USCC also identified as a UFWD front group.

Joske is the author of “Spies and Lies: How China’s Greatest Covert Operations Fooled the World” published in October 2022, which was well-received by the international press.

The UFWD is a Chinese government agency, which oversees CCP influence operations and reports directly to the CCP’s Central Committee, according to USCC. General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the importance of the UFWD. He even described the agency as the CCP’s “magic weapon” for “realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation” in a 2015 speech.

“The UFWD is essentially an intelligence agency of the CCP tasked with infiltrating different communities and organizations, co-opting and influencing them,” Salih Hudayar, Uyghur prime minister of the East Turkistan Government in Exile, told the DCNF.

While TCP’s attorneys conceded in their October letter to Semafor that Kwan formerly served as a COEA “director,” they claim his involvement with the group “was limited to participating in two trips to China in 2013 and 2014.” TCP’s attorneys also claimed Kwan’s COEA tenure preceded his joining TCP’s board and his providing nearly 2% of the outlet’s initial equity.

Yet, the DCNF discovered that archived versions of COEA’s website — which was deleted after the organization merged with COFA around 2019 — list Kwan as a “director” for two consecutive four-year terms running from 2013-2017 and 2017-2021. This appears to indicate that Kwan’s time at COEA overlapped with his $150,000 purchase of SupChina First Notes in September 2016, according to Security and Exchange Commission filings. Likewise, this indicates Kwan may have been serving as COEA’s director when he assumed the role of “director” of SupChina — now called TCP — in May 2017.

Kwan is currently listed as an “advisory board member” on TCP’s website.

Additionally, Kwan appears to have also held leadership positions in several companies that have financially sponsored TCP, including KCY Family Office, East West Bank and Piermont Bank, the DCNF found.

The Committee Of 100
TCP also appears to have partnered with, and donated $25,000 to, a New York-based organization called the Committee of 100 (C100) — a nonprofit that claims to seek “constructive dialogue and relationships between the peoples of the United States and Greater China.”

Yet, C100 members appear to have included Chinese government advisers and 10 COEA directors, including Kwan, who, based on the committee’s website, may have served as C100’s chairman while simultaneously serving as COEA’s director.

Moreover, in addition to TCP’s founder, Anla Cheng — a hedge fund manager by trade, who apparently is also a trustee and former C100 director — seven of TCP’s 23 advisory board members appear to belong to C100, including John Long, S. Alice Mong, Frank Wu, Li Cheng, Ted Wang, Janet Yang and Lesley Ma.

TCP’s attorneys accused Semafor’s article of relying on “racial profiling and stereotypes” by citing a C100 report which claimed “Asian defendants are more than twice as likely to be falsely accused of espionage” without acknowledging any financial or personnel ties between the two organizations.

C100 did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

‘CCP Agents Often Target The Chinese Diaspora’
Van Sant also claims in her 11-page declaration that the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) told TCP’s founder, Cheng, in June 2020 about a Chinese scientist whom the U.S. government had charged with espionage, prompting Cheng to direct staff to “protect him.”

CAST is a unit of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which oversees the UFWD, according to USCC. The CPPCC “operates as a way for the CCP to falsely claim that it represents the full breadth of Chinese society,” according to a 2020 report written by Joske, the intel analyst.

“In practice, those organizations are controlled by the CCP,” Joske wrote. “Their leaders are often party members, and, historically, some have been manipulated through inducement and coercion, including blackmail.”

Although TCP’s attorneys did not deny Van Sant’s allegation in their letter to Semafor, they claimed that “protecting a ‘wrongly investigated’ Chinese scientist” did not amount to “evidence of espionage.”

Yet, TCP listed CAST as a “partner organization” on flyers from a 2022 “Women’s Conference,” the DCNF found.

Furthermore, TCP appears to have partnered with around 10 organizations that may be led by members of the CCP or alleged UFWD fronts, the DCNF found. For example, the “About Us” tab on CAST’s website includes a section on “Leading Party Members” and features CAST’s Party Secretary Zhang Yuzhuo and five other Communist Party members.

Likewise, TCP partnered with another organization called NYO China for its 2019 “Women’s Conference.” NYO China appears to be headed by He Mei, vice chairman of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), which was identified by USCC as a UFWD front back in 2018.

The year before the State Department designated the Confucius Institute as a UFWD “foreign mission” in 2020, TCP also partnered with the Chinese government-run propaganda center to host an event on “China’s Food Revolution.” Li Changchun, former CCP propaganda chief, once called Confucius Institutes “an important part of China’s overseas propaganda setup,” according to the State Department.

“Confucius Institutes are the United Front’s most well-known overseas outreach program,” Helen Raleigh, author of “Backlash: How China’s Aggression Has Backfired,” told the DCNF.

“Confucius Institutes have been noted to present students with only the CCP-sanctioned version of Chinese history, which omits the CCP’s human rights violations, and Chinese teachers at Confucius Institutes are all thoroughly vetted by Beijing,” Raleigh said.

In total, about 10 organizations that appear to have been headed by CCP members or alleged UFWD front members financially sponsored TCP, the DCNF determined. These organizations paid as much as $50,000 to sponsor events hosted by the multimedia outlet, according to various flyers.

Youhe Invest — whose website identifies its chairman Su Jie as a member of the CCP and CPPCC — is listed on TCP’s website as a sponsor of past events. Likewise, the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) sponsored a TCP screening of a documentary on “the history and evolution of Afro-Chinese relations in America” in 2021.

CUSEF is a Hong Kong-based nonprofit registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act that is involved in UFWD “influence operations,” according to USCC.

Several companies run by individuals from CUSEF’s leadership have also sponsored TCP, such as Wisdom Valley — whose founding director, Victor Fung, is listed as CUSEF’s vice chairman — and Value Partners — whose co-chairman, Cheah Cheng Hye, is one of CUSEF’s “counsellors.”

Rep. Smith told the DCNF that once Republicans take control of the House it will become a priority to investigate Chinese influence operations.

“Beyond national security concerns, we know that CCP agents often target the Chinese diaspora in the United States,” Smith said. “We must help defend our fellow citizens and lawful permanent residents from pressure — and in many cases, transnational repression up to and including assassination attempts — by the Chinese Communist Party.”

Congress declares itself the enemy of the people

Omnibus and military bills rife with fraud, deception, and abuse.

Jordan Schachtel

I’ve been trying to compile my thoughts about a week filled with 2.6 trillion dollars in new spending, on top of the usual clown world behavior we’re witnessing in the D.C. Beltway nowadays. It’s been difficult to concisely summarize the overwhelming amount of fraud, deception, and outright abuse coming out of the halls of Congress these days.

In the midst of a global recession that they helped to facilitate, Congress has decided to pass a $1.7 trillion dollar record-breaking omnibus bill. And that comes on top of the record-breaking $858 billion “defense” budget passed last week.

Sure, the Weekend At Biden’s Administration hasn’t exactly been a force for human liberty, to put it mildly. But many are missing the diabolical role that the legislative branch plays in facilitating the growth of the authoritarian uniparty.

If it seems like our ruling class absolutely despises the common man, that’s because they most certainly do. Their actions this week have made that quite clear.

One such example happened on Tuesday, when Mitch McConnell declared that Ukraine (yes, Ukraine) is the highest priority item for Republicans in America today.

https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1605300985441689601/pu/vid/484x270/arhVFeE2AkBWoRtH.mp4?tag=12 .28 min

It’s truly incredible gaslighting in the face of survey data that shows Americans outside of Washington, D.C. don’t give a damn about the war between Ukraine and Russia. Mitch doesn’t care about that. He cares about Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed, and the gang.

Tonight, they’ve got a big “bipartisan” spectacle planned. At 7:30PM ET, the Ukrainian president Volodomyr Zelensky will deliver an address to a joint session of Congress, and he will surely be greeted as a Churchillian hero, instead of the tinpot dictator that he actually is.

It serves as a perfect distraction to mask the depravity that is the 4,155 page Omnibus bill they plan on authorizing by Friday.

https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1605642061146996737/pu/vid/1280x720/wH0YRjuJNK8fMTrV.mp4?tag=12 .58 min

In that bill, Congress will soon delegate another $45 billion to Ukraine, which Zelensky, with incredible chutzpah, has already declared insufficient for his noble cause. In just 9 months, the U.S. taxpayer has already spent twice Russia’s total military budget on Ukraine aid. Still, Zelensky demands more from the American citizen, and Congress is happy to accommodate his madness, because it makes their real constituency, the uniparty class, beyond thrilled.

Tens of millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet, largely due to the economic and societal crises caused by the very representatives that are supposed to defend our rights in Washington. Over the past few years, they printed countless trillions supposedly to facilitate the fight against the Wuhan sniffles that is Covid-19, while pointing to the virus as a means to clear the way for the backdoor creation of a CCP-like surveillance state in the United States. Every step of the way, instead of mitigating the damage, this uniparty in Congress has acted as an accelerant force.

In my life, there has never been a greater separation between the common man and the Washington Uniparty man than there is today. It's one of the reasons why I left The Swamp, behind the primary reason of wanting to depart from a city of bot-like Covid hysterics. D.C. is a place that forces you to sell your soul if you want to become a member in good standing with the uniparty club. The vast majority of Congress is happy to make that trade in exchange for their seat of power.

Congress members, by and large, despise their constituencies. Through their actions, they have spent the past few years increasingly becoming an enemy to the taxpaying American citizen, while selling out to major inside the beltway interests like Big Pharma, the defense industry, and the like.

There are two sides in the fight over the future of America. On one side, we have the Washington ruling class. They do not maintain a particular guiding ideology. Their goal remains the relentless pursuit of power, while curtailing the power of everyone on the outside. On the other side is everyone else who is not a credentialed member of the ruling class.

This is not a republican versus democrat, conservatism versus socialism, blue v red fight. Those labels are merely distractions from the fundamental threat our liberties face today.

President Trump rightly declared the corporate media “the enemy of the people.” Our elected officials in Congress are no better. They’ve earned this same label.

Hardwired for Control – The Brain-Computer Interface Is Already Here

Neuralink is ready to stick chips in humans. Synchron and Blackrock Neurotech have already done it—as have many others

People talk about brain implants as if they’re an imagined biohorror in the distant future. This is a misconception. Hardwired trodes already exist, they’re more widespread than you think, and they’ll only be more prevalent as time goes on.

Today, it’s an iPhone 14 under the Xmas tree. Come the Singularity, it’ll be an iTrode 666 in your cerebral cortex.

Synchron and Blackrock Neurotech, alongside numerous labs funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), are at the forefront of this human experimentation.

Neuralink is racing to catch up—burning through lab animals like so much kindling—and will likely take the lead once they’re approved for human trials.

Currently, a brain-computer interface (BCI) can provide quadriplegics and locked-in stroke victims a superior hands-free experience. Patients can move cursors onscreen. They can type text with only their thoughts. They can operate robotic arms to move beer bottles to their lips. The late Matthew Nagle, who received the first proper BCI in 2006, was able to play Pong “telepathically.”

Enjoying a decent head start, Blackrock Neurotech is the most prolific brain-jack racket. “36 people around the world have an implanted brain-computer interface,” their website states.

“32 of them use Blackrock technology.” (If I had to wager, the former number is likely greater.)

These silicon seeds have been planted in a bed of gray matter, and after recent rounds of generous financing, they’re growing fast.

It’s important to note, though, that current BCIs are used to read the neurons, not write onto them. At least for now. Yes, there are deep brain stimulation implants—wired electrodes that sit under the skull, typically used to control tremors, and more recently, to alter mood. These simple systems, embedded in over 160,000 heads around the world, do provide input signals.

But that’s a long way from hearing articulate voices in your head.

However, should the most aggressive developers realize their dreams, readily available BCI systems will read and rewrite our minds like RAM drives. In the near future, we’re told, commercial implants will allow regular humans to commune with artificial intelligence as if we were spirit mediums drawing ghosts out of the aether.

Manufacturers shield themselves from public outcry by promising the lame will walk and the blind will see. That’s already happening, but the openly declared goal is to move from healing to enhancement.

Last week, Synchron had their BCI bankrolled by the palm-scanning home-invader Jeff Bezos and the island-hopping “Vaxx King” Bill Gates, with $75 million in total investment.

Currently, the Brooklyn-based company has jammed chips into multiple human brains. Last summer, they received FDA approval to start trials in the US. Like most BCIs, the device functions like a telepathic touchpad in your skull.

Synchron’s main product, the Stentrode, is much less invasive than its competitors. For instance, Blackrock Neurotech uses a micro-electrode array that sits on top of the brain, requiring doctors to cut through bone for installation. Neuralink’s processor is basically a quarter-sized skull plug, with 1,024 hair-thin wires fanning out like jellyfish tentacles into the gray matter below.

The Stentrode is just a wire-mesh stint, like a tiny pair of Chinese finger cuffs. Surgeons insert this stint in the jugular vein and maneuver it up through the brain’s blood vessels to the desired location. Once installed, the Stentrode monitors brain activity for intention. This information is sent down a cable to an antenna device sitting on the chest under the skin.

That data is then transmitted to external devices.

Like its competitors, Synchron’s current projects are focused on the motor cortex. In a series of exercises, the user concentrates on a specific intention. The device then reads the corresponding brain activity, and external artificial intelligence systems create a digital mirror, correlating the brain pattern to the intention. All of this happens in microseconds, allowing for real-time monitoring.

After the brain’s partial mirror image is fleshed out, the paralyzed user can do things like move a cursor onscreen to type text. Synchron’s most famous patient, a locked-in ALS victim, made headlines in December of 2021 for sending the first telepathic tweet. Using the Twitter account of CEO Tom Oxley, he typed out:

hello world!

And in a follow-up tweet:

my hope is that I’m paving the way for people to tweet through thoughts

Only a monster would deny the obvious benefit of inserting a BCI into a fully conscious but uncommunicative vegetable, allowing him to speak to his loved ones once again. The snag is that brain-computer interfaces won’t stop here. The ultimate goal is cyborg supremacy.

“Synchron’s north star is to achieve whole-brain data transfer,” Oxley said last year, evoking a kinder, gentler version of the Moravec Transfer. “The blood vessels provide surgery-free access to all regions of the brain, and at scale.” This means doctors will eventually snake Stentrodes into every lobe and cortex—sort of like having an Alexa in every room of your house—and subsequently create a digital twin of the organ in silico.

It’s the ultimate fusion of mind with machine, allowing the user to control digital activity with his thoughts alone. In turn, this gives scientists and artificial intelligence total access to the user’s mental gears. Because most primary functions are nearly identical from person to person, once you’ve mapped one brain, you’ve basically mapped them all.

Synchron diagram

For many working on BCIs, the prospect of a man-machine merger is intoxicating.

Possessed by the same spirit as Neuralink’s owner Elon Musk—who openly states his desire to merge brains with AI for intellectual enhancement—Synchron’s Tom Oxley has a more heart-warming vision of our cyborg destiny:

In the future, I’m really excited about the breakthroughs BCI could deliver to other conditions like epilepsy, depression, and dementia. But beyond that, what is this going to mean for humanity?

What’s really got me thinking is the future of communication.

Take emotion. Have you ever considered how hard it is to express how you feel? You have to self-reflect, package the emotion into words, and then use the muscles of your mouth to speak those words. But you really just want someone to know how you feel. …

So what if rather than using your words, you could throw your emotions? ... At that moment, we would have realized that the necessary use of words to express our current state of being was always going to fall short. The full potential of the brain would then be unlocked.

Far beyond healing, Oxley wants to transcend the human condition entirely, or at least transform it. In this sense, he’s an obvious transhumanist, even if he avoids the term.

This transhuman orientation is shared across the BCI field. As I’ve covered extensively, various brain researchers affiliated with DARPA, the RAND Corporation, the Royal Society of London, the National Institutes of Health, Silicon Valley, the World Economic Forum, and countless university labs are aiming for an upgraded Humanity 2.0.

I’m not spinning some “conspiracy theory” here. It’s simply a thing.

Before Charles Lieber was convicted for taking Chinese money under the table, the Harvard chemist was developing a nanoscale brain-computer interface that could be injected via syringe. This microscopic neural lace merges with the neurons, creating “cyborg tissue” that can communicate with a computer.

“We’re trying to blur the distinction between electronic circuits and neural circuits,” he told Smithsonian Magazine. And if you browse the names of former Lieber Group members on Harvard’s website, it’s obvious that Chinese researchers, along with the Chinese Communist Party, share his passion for biodigital convergence.

“This could make some inroads to a brain interface for consumers,” a Rice University tech developer commented. “Plugging your computer into your brain becomes a lot more palatable if all you need to do is inject something.”

These guys take “the jab” to a whole new level.

From “iHuman: Blurring lines between mind and machine” | The Royal Society of London (2019)

Another gross misconception is that transhumanism is a purely leftist or globalist agenda. This may be a politically convenient position to take, but it’s indefensible.

Amongst others, the scrappy Silicon Valley investor Peter Thiel is, in effect, a Western nationalist. On the Republican side, he recently funded the senatorial campaigns of J.D. Vance and Blake Masters. On the transhuman side, the multi-billionaire was an initial investor in Neuralink, and is now financing their rivals at Blackrock Neurotech.

Philosophically speaking, Thiel is far more articulate than other tech titans like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, or the new Conservative, Inc “superhero,” Elon Musk. While they share the same interests in life extension, brain interfacing, and artificial intelligence, Thiel explicitly steers his projects toward advancing and defending Western civilization.

For right-wingers opposed to the hubris of transhumanism—an unfashionable term that Thiel wisely distances himself from—his strange blend of traditional mythos and techno-futurism complicates the standard narrative. In a provocative essay at First Things, entitled “Against Edenism,” Thiel urges Christians to accept the inevitability, or at least the necessity, of progress. As civilization hurtles toward apocalypse, there can be no return to Eden.

“The future will look very different from the past,” he writes, citing Genesis and Revelation.

“The Garden of Paradise will culminate in the City of Heaven.” In Thiel's view, the mission to develop technology runs parallel to God’s act of creation, which brought order to the face of the deep:

Judeo-Western optimism differs from the atheist optimism of the Enlightenment in the extreme degree to which it believes that the forces of chaos and nature can and will be mastered. The tyranny of Chance will give way to the providence of God.

Exercising our natural human capacities, we are co-creators in this process—aka, Homo Deus:

Science and technology are natural allies to this Judeo-Western optimism, especially if we remain open to an eschatological frame in which God works through us in building the kingdom of heaven today, here on Earth—in which the kingdom of heaven is both a future reality and something partially achievable in the present.

Looking through Thiel’s business portfolio—especially Palantir—this “partially achievable” divine kingdom includes wall-to-wall surveillance grids, mass data-mining, military-grade artificial intelligence, BCI control devices, genetic engineering, vampiric blood transfusions from young donors to aging billionaires, and of course, Bitcoin. Lots and lots of Bitcoin.

Call me cynical, but I see little difference between Thiel’s technocratic “City of God” and the Beast System of the Antichrist. Even so, there’s a quandary that can’t be avoided.

No matter how blasphemous his cosmic vision may be, Thiel’s argument for the necessity of science and technology is essentially correct. If Western nation-states are to compete, or even survive, in the global Fourth Industrial Revolution—“the fusion of the physical, digital, and biological worlds”—we won’t do it with typewriters and sling shots.

We need a plan. And as much as you may despise Thiel’s quest for cybernetic Mammon, at least he has one.

We are in the throes of a civilizational transformation. The idea of “progress” may seem absurd when the potholes multiply and basic commodities grow scarce, but technology is progressing nonetheless.

Each of us is being hardwired for control. On the one hand, we’re granted control over various devices and vast stretches of virtual space. On the other, elites who deploy those devices and police our virtual spaces are taking control over us.

As the brain-computer interface creeps into public consciousness via news stories and propaganda—as the idea is implanted in our minds—it becomes a profound symbol for total control. With each technical advance, that symbol edges closer to realization.

I’m not saying this to freak you out. Alarmist thinking is weak. But don’t tell me “It’ll never happen.”

The intermediate steps toward this man-machine merger have already been taken. Over the past century and a half, humans have acclimated to the telegraph, the telephone, the radio, the television, and the desktop computer. Now, across the planet, we’re fusing with our devices through smartphone-symbiosis.

Holding these screens in our hands, with digital content filling our heads, we already bear a mark that allows us to buy or sell—hovering somewhere between UberEats and the Antichrist. The next phase is a non-invasive BCI skull cap, or brainwave headband, looming just over the horizon. From there, it’s a small step to getting an iTrode jammed in your dome.

All of us fall somewhere on the caveman-to-cyborg spectrum, with most sliding rightward on the scale. The question isn’t whether society is going there—it’s how far each of us will go.

Cleveland study conducted to demonstrate the clinical effectiveness of the bivalent vaccines accidentally finds that the risk of Covid-19 infection increases with each prior vaccination

Also too, the bivalent jab turned out to be no more than 30% effective at preventing Covid — and this at the height of BA.5 variant, against which it was targeted.

eugyppius

Because Pfizer only tested the effectiveness of their BA.5 bivalent vaccine on a handful of mice, there has been understandable interest in working out whether the shiny new jabs actually do anything in return for inflicting an unknown number of injuries and undesirable side-effects on the Pfizer Pfaithful. Towards this end, a few scientists at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio have conducted a retrospective cohort study of Clinic employees who received the bivalent vaccine between September and December of this year. Most received the Pfizer cocktail, but 11% had the Moderna version.

Of 51,011 people ultimately included in the study, a mere 10,804 opted for bivalent vaccination. If anything shows that the stock of the vaccines is in freefall, it’s uptake this dismal at a major healthcare institution. The bivalently boosted were 30% less likely to be infected, in a study period where the vaccines and the circulating SARS-2 variants were for the most part perfectly aligned. In another blow to the logic of perpetual vaccination with subpar ineffective products, the authors note that their cohort had “too few severe illnesses for the study to be able to determine if the vaccine decreased severity of illness.” Because it’s severe outcomes and death, rather than infections, which matter, this is the same as saying the bivalent vaccines are totally pointless, especially in the younger cohort (mean age 42) studied here.

eugyppius: a plague chronicle is a reader-supported publication. maybe you subscribe?
Upgrade to paid

The real bombshell, though, is the authors’ accidental finding that risk of infection increases incrementally with each prior (non-bivalent) vaccine dose.

Behold the chart:

The graph shows the portion of participants infected over the course of the study by days since the start date, broken down by vaccine doses received.

The authors note that Clinic personnel were required to obtain PCR tests to secure paid sick leave, which should mitigate at least somewhat the effects of testing bias.

Their discussion of this point is more honest than you’d expect:

The association of increased risk of COVID-19 with higher numbers of prior vaccine doses in our study, was unexpected. A simplistic explanation might be that those who received more doses were more likely to be individuals at higher risk of COVID-19. A small proportion of individuals may have fit this description. However, the majority of subjects in this study were generally young individuals and all were eligible to have received at least 3 doses of vaccine by the study start date, and which they had every opportunity to do. … This is not the only study to find a possible association with more prior vaccine doses and higher risk of COVID-19. … We still have a lot to learn about protection from COVID-19 vaccination, and in addition to a vaccine’s effectiveness it is important to examine whether multiple vaccine doses given over time may not be having the beneficial effect that is generally assumed.

You know what is effective against infection, though? Prior infection. The more recent that infection, and the more related the variant, the better:

Someone might even be tempted to reason from both of these graphs simultaneously, that the only thing keeping SARS-2 in the headlines is the vaccines that were supposed to save us.

Oh, one last thing. Lurking in the tables at the end, in this chart of how many doses their participants received, is this little nugget:

Eighty-five employees of Cleveland Clinic submitted to five vaccine doses prior to the release of the bivalent vaccine, only to be outdone by the 16 heroic vaccinators at the bottom of the chart, who somehow managed to secure no less than 6 doses for themselves by September of this year. There are a small but very real number of people out there, who are compulsively vaccinating every three months or so. Think about that.

Seth Rich's laptops may hold deeper secrets than Hunter's

Exclusive: Jack Cashill spotlights recent discovery that FBI has murdered DNC staffer's machines

Jack Cashill
Published December 21, 2022 at 7:16pm

One unsung investigator who deserves more attention is Ty Clevenger, a self-described, "Ex-cop, ex-journalist, disgruntled lawyer, muckraking blogger (LawFlog), and cheerful optimist. (OK, maybe that last one is a stretch.)"

In a sense, all the investigators I have highlighted are, like myself, optimists. We continue to believe that surrender is not an option and that despair is for losers. For the last several years, Clevenger has dug away the dirt surrounding what may be the most revealing mystery of our time, the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich.

Through his legal efforts on behalf of client Brian Huddleston, Clevenger has discovered that the FBI has in its possession not just Rich's personal laptop but his work computer as well. "I think it's huge," Clevenger recently told Emerald Robinson on her program "The Absolute Truth."

For those who have only recently been red-pilled, the 27-year-old Rich, a DNC data analyst, was beaten and then shot by unknown assailants on a Washington, D.C., street in the early morning hours of July 10, 2016. His attackers appear to have taken nothing – not his wallet, not his phone, not his watch.

This begs the question of what his killers were looking for. The media accepted the explanation of the Metropolitan D.C. Police that Rich's murder was the result of a botched robbery – but how does one botch a "robbery" after beating and then killing the victim.

"I think Julian Assange was telling the truth," Clevenger told Robinson. Two weeks after Rich's death, Assange suggested on Dutch TV that Rich was his source for the DNC emails then unsettling the Democratic Party. Assange offered a $20,000 reward to find Rich's killer.

The media has mindlessly blamed the Russians for hacking this information, but as Clevenger pointed out the FBI never looked at the DNC computers that were allegedly hacked. Instead, the alleged crime victim, the DNC, took the unlikely step of circumventing the FBI and hiring its own investigator, the Democrat-friendly firm CrowdStrike.

The FBI then took the unprecedented step of accepting CrowdStrike's word that the Russians were responsible for the crime. What the FBI had to ignore was what Assange reportedly told liberal media analyst Ellen Ratner shortly before the 2020 election.

The FBI's failure to interview Ratner was indicative. On the day after the 2016 election Ratner, a veteran news analyst, participated in a recorded symposium at Embry Riddle University.

"I spent three hours with Julian Assange on Saturday at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London," said Ratner more than an hour into the conversation. "One thing he did say was the leaks were not from, they were not from the Russians. They were an internal source from the Hillary Campaign."

An admitted Hillary Clinton supporter, Ratner had no reason to make this up. Not long after Trump's inauguration, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sy Hersh cited an FBI report relayed to him by one of his most trusted sources confirming Assange's claim.

Later that year, DNC head Donna Brazile dedicated her book, "Hacks," to Rich and questioned whether the Russians had "played some part in his unsolved murder." None of this interested our media.

Clevenger, however, has kept plugging. On Dec. 10, on the newly liberated Twitter, Clevenger posted a thread on what he has learned to date, beginning with the FBI's recent grudging admission of the two Rich laptops in its possession.

Attached to the thread is the declaration of Michael Seidel, the FBI official who tries to explain why "none of the records previously showed up in the five years" that Clevenger has been requesting them.

Based on the evidence, writes Clevenger, "I strongly suspect that the data prepared for 'exfiltration' was found on Seth's work laptop, and I strongly suspect that Seth had downloaded that data onto a thumb drive."

Clevenger cites Hersh's intel report, about which he testified under oath, "indicating that @Wikileaks got the DNC emails from an internal DNC source rather than from Russian hackers." Says Clevenger, "I suspect the report he's talking about is the FBI's report on Seth's work laptop."

Concludes Clevenger, "The FBI lied and cheated for five years in order to hide that laptop report, and it's still fighting to hide that report from the public."

What neither the FBI nor the mainstream media can deny is that Seth Rich was murdered on a Washington Street and that his killer or killers remain at large. The real scandal here, the undeniable one, is that our media have less than zero interest in finding out just who those killers are.

MORE MIGRANTS! – Move Over ‘The Great Replacement’, The ‘Great Replenishment’ Is the New Plan to Flood Rural Areas with Cheap Labor.

THE ELITES ARE DOUBLING DOWN ON THEIR FAILED MIGRATION POLICIES, WITH THE LATEST TARGETS OUTSIDE CITIES.

he UK government wants migrants to spend at least five years living in rural parts of the country, as a way to combat depopulation and “replenish” aging communities.

Migrants to Western countries like the UK usually prefer to settle in urban areas, leading the government’s Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to believe special measures are needed to ensure rural areas do not miss out on the “benefits of diversity”.

These special measures were set out in the MAC’s new annual report published at the beginning of December. The measures are aimed, in particular, at contributing to the government’s bizarrely monikered “levelling-up agenda”, described as a “moral, social and economic programme for the whole of government” to “spread opportunity more equally across the UK”.

Rural areas such as Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are among the poorest in northern Europe, as well as being home to older populations. Increases in the proportion of people over 65 in rural areas are driven in part by internal migration from cities. Places like London and Birmingham have seen net outflows of over-65s in recent years, and a net influx of younger people.

The Great ‘Replenishment’.

A similar scheme has been mooted by the devolved Scottish government, with the nation expected to witness a particularly acute decline in its rural demographics in coming decades.

The MAC claims that although the demographics of regions like Scotland and Wales are a priority, rural areas across the entire UK could use more migrants.

Professor Brian Bell, who chairs the committee, says migrants could fill jobs in sectors like agriculture, fishing, and hospitality, many of which are caused by younger people moving to cities. To facilitate this, they suggest even lower skill requirements for visas than already exist.

“You would essentially have a rule that said you can employ workers in those rural areas with a lower skill requirement than the normal route,” Bell said. “Agriculture and fisheries are obviously big employers in various rural communities and then hospitality as well. Many areas in these areas will rely on hospitality, so you might be talking about bar staff, waiting staff, cleaning staff, that kind of thing. If you’re going to have a rural pilot, it needs to have a more liberal policy than the skilled worker route, or else what’s the point because the skilled worker route already exists.”

The MAC also reckons that migrants on new, rural visas should be tied to the countryside for a period of around five years, until they have won the right to settle permanently. After this period, they would be free to move where they chose.

Canada has used similar incentives to attract migrants to rural areas.

In 2016, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, John McCallum, said his government needed to do more to encourage migrants to settle outside of major cities like Toronto and Vancouver.

“There’s a significant feeling that Canada does need more immigrants, partly because we have an aging population, and so we need more young blood to keep our economies going,” he said. That year, the country’s Atlantic provinces announced a pilot program to do just that, as part of their “Atlantic Growth Strategy”. The program has been hailed as a success for retaining migrants in their new rural communities.

Both Canada and the UK have seen unprecedented levels of immigration in recent years. In July, the country’s Office for National Statistics announced that annual net migration into the UK had reached a whopping new record of 504,000, compared to the circa 300,000 per year which spurred on the Brexit referendum. In the late 90s, net migration was lower than 50,000 a year.

“Conservative” government.

The news that rural areas will now be forcibly diversified should leave many, if not all, Conservative Party voters wondering why on Earth they ever voted for the party in the first instance. What difference would it have made if they’d voted Labour instead? If anything, they might feel better – or less worse – about the current situation. Yes, they’d still have to face record immigration and forced diversification, but at least they wouldn’t have a dagger in their backs.

Truth is, the Conservative government, like countless governments across the West, left and “right”, is determined to continue to use immigration as a tool of social engineering, regardless of what the electorate says. One of Tony Blair’s advisors famously admitted that the 12 years of mass immigration under the last Labour government were a deliberate policy designed to “rub the right’s nose in diversity” and change the country irretrievably. Now the “right” is rubbing even harder, and the country is changing faster than ever.

The euphemistic language of “replenishing” local communities in order to “level them up” can’t disguise the brutally obvious fact that the British government is choosing to replace its own citizens in their communities with people from other countries. Pro-natal policies like those adopted in Hungary, where Victor Orban’s government has introduced tax cuts and loan forgiveness to encourage native population growth, are never considered. Why not?

Belief in any kind of deliberate planning – sometimes referred to as “the Great Replacement” – to use migrants to replace native populations excites vicious denunciations and cries of “conspiracy theory!” especially from the left, even as evidence of its very real nature continues to mount. Outside Hungary, pushback has been sporadic and largely uncoordinated, with the exception of the Brexit vote and Eric Zemmour’s recent candidacy for the French presidential election. At the head of his newly formed “Reconquest” party, Zemmour made demographic change a central plank of his campaign platform. In an electrifying announcement speech, in which he extolled the virtues of the French, their history and culture, he addressed the camera directly and said, “we will not be replaced”.

The fantasy of total Western self-effacement is now being given powerful fuel by climate change. In her new book, Nomad Century, which is being given plentiful media coverage, Gaia Vince claims that more or less the entire population of the Third World should be deliberately relocated to the West in advance of climate change making large swathes of the planet uninhabitable. This “planned and deliberate migration of a kind humanity has never before undertaken” would require the creation of new megacities across the Global North, the adoption of a global plant-based “sustainable” diet, and the dissolution of all existing forms of identity and political affiliation.

Vince is far from coy about what this would mean for the current inhabitants of the West, but she reassures the reader not to worry. “[T]he pale skin of Europeans is very recent in human evolutionary history. The original Americans, Europeans and Britons were dark-skinned until their land was colonized by pale-skinned Eurasian steppe people some 5,000 years ago in Europe, and by their descendants more recently from the sixteenth century in the Americas.” “Pale-skinned” Europeans are just a passing thing.

While Vince’s plan may never actually materialize in the form she advocates, there can be little doubt that climate change will be used as a justification for massively increased migration to the West. In a landmark judgment in 2020, the UN Human Rights Committee ruled that a state cannot send migrants home if they are deemed to be at risk from the effects of climate change there. This is a clear precedent for making climate change a cast-iron reason for migration to the West from virtually anywhere else in the world. The recent call for “climate reparations” from developing nations, and the snivelling acquiescence of our leaders, shows that our elected representatives have chosen – again, without consulting us – to accept collective guilt on our behalf. Punishment will follow.

Call it what you will – the Great Replacement or now the Great Replenishment – that thing that definitely isn’t supposed to be happening definitely is.

CNN reported:

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that Russia needs to “continue to support and improve readiness” of its nuclear weapons.

“We need to continue to support, and to improve the readiness of our nuclear units. This is the main guarantee of our sovereignty and territorial integrity. A strategic priority is the overall balance of power in the world,” he told a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry board in Moscow.

Putin also accused key NATO countries of using their military potential against Russia.

“It’s well known that today, the military potential and opportunities of virtually all the main countries of NATO are being used against Russia,” he said.

Putin claimed that Moscow’s “strategic adversaries” have been planning to “disintegrate, weaken and divide” Russia.

“Our strategic adversaries have the goal of disintegrating and weakening, dividing our country. This has been going on for centuries. [Russia is] too big, as they think, a country that poses a threat to someone. Therefore, it needs to be broken down, cut down a little,” he said.

Biden Admin Used Taxpayer Money to Pay Foreign Reporters to ‘Promote Climate Alarmism Around the World’

By Cristina Laila
Published December 21, 2022 at 4:25pm

The Biden Regime used taxpayer money to pay foreign reporters to promote climate alarmism around the world.

The Climate Change hoax is being used to redistribute wealth worldwide.

US taxpayers are being forced to pay other countries climate reparations while China and India refuse to reduce emissions.

“The FPC reporting tour — titled “Combating the Climate Crisis Through U.S. Innovation” — ultimately took place during a two-week stretch in May 2021. The event was designed to “promote the Administration’s goal of prioritizing the fight against climate change through global efforts to reduce emissions,” according to the State Department.” Fox News reported.

The State Department quietly announced this climate program in 2021, however, they did not disclose it would be funded by US taxpayers, Fox News reported.

Fox News reported:

The Biden administration funded a foreign “reporting tour” last year, sponsoring several overseas journalists who cover climate change, internal State Department emails showed.
In March 2021, high-ranking State Department officials discussed a proposal to sponsor foreign journalists to “have experiences that educate them on reporting on climate change,” according to the emails obtained by Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT) and shared with Fox News Digital. In the email exchange, officials from Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC) John Kerry’s office and the Office of Global Change (EGC) praised the program as a “fantastic” and “great” idea.
“Jean Foschetti at the FPC mentioned this to me about a week ago,” a State Department official whose name was redacted wrote in an email on March 23, 2021. “Sounds like a great reporting tour idea; basically, the FPC will sponsor multiple foreign reporters to have experiences that educate them on reporting on climate change. Can EGC and SPEC take a look and clear?”
“Thanks for sharing … I think this sounds like a fantastic FPC (virtual) reporting tour and I’m looking forward to the stories that will come out of this,” a second redacted official responded one day later.

McConnell Hopes Passing Democrats $1.7 Trillion Spending Bill Will Prevent Country from Discovering His Role in the Coup

By Jim Hoft
Published December 21, 2022 at 11:45am

Kash Patel joined Steve Bannon Tuesday morning to discuss the explosive revelations released Monday on the Deep State DOJ’s spying on Rep. Devin Nunes’s top attorneys during their investigation of the origins of the Trump-Russia hoax.

It was Kash Patel and Devin Nunes who eventually discovered that the intelligence community was in on the Russia collusion hoax and attempted a coup on President Donald Trump. Trump was eventually exonerated from the multiyear investigation when Bill Barr was sworn in as Attorney General.

On Tuesday morning Kash Patel joined Steve Bannon on The War Room to discuss the latest revelations on the intelligence community spying on him while he was investigating the Trump-Russia hoax.

And Kash and Steve broke the news that PAUL RYAN was in on it!

Speaker Ryan knew the DOJ was spying on Deven Nunes’s staff and kept it hidden from his fellow Republican lawmaker. It really puts into perspective who Paul Ryan really is, a dishonest anti-Trump Republican and untrustworhy colleague.

Kash Patel: What did we just learn, five years later? That Google subpoenaed me, Devin Nunes’s chief legal investigator for my personal phone records, my personal emails, and my personal credit card and financial information when I was exposing Rod Rosenstein and Chris Wray for performing the Russiagate hoax. Not just me but another senior staffer as well.

Devin Nunes’s two top lawyers amongst other people were subpoenaed by the Justice Department in 2017 because as Devin put it last night, they wanted to go after him and us because we were exposing their corruption.

Steve Bannon: Hold on, let me get this right… The Justice Department went and got, basically a warrant to get your emails, your banking records, all your financial records, your telephone records. We don’t know if there’s a wiretap or not. But all that to track you and another staffer. Here’s what I don’t understand. A guy named Donald Trump was president.

That was his Attorney General. They have a regulation. The Speaker of the House was Paul Ryan… Here’s what happened. Did Paul Ryan notify the President of the United States or someone at the White House that they, the Justice Department had to notify Paul Ryan, correct?

Kash Patel: Yeah, me as a former federal prosecutor, if you’re going to go and surveil a member of the Gang of Eight, and his staff, meaning the person who gets the most sensitive intelligence, the AG has to notify Congress’s leadership, that’s Paul Ryan AND somebody at the White House. Here’s the thing with Paul Ryan. Here’s the guy who didn’t want us to send out subpoenas for Russiagate… Paul Ryan never told us he had a copy of the Steele dossier.

This is very damning for Paul Ryan. How can this man ever be trusted again?

Ryan has since landed on the board at FOX News – which explains why FOX News has ignored coverage of President Trump this year. They’re turning the page on Trump.

BREAKING: PAUL RYAN WAS IN ON IT! Speaker Ryan KNEW DOJ was Spying on Rep. Nunes and His Staff – Allowed It to Happen – Never Notified White House! (VIDEO)

With this revelation, we can also now establish that the other members of the Gang of Eight at the time were also aware of this DOJ targeting of President Trump and Rep. Devin Nunes.

Mitch McConnell was the Senate GOP leader at the time and was also aware of this spying.

Mitch McConnell was also in on it.

And now Mitch McConnell is leading the charge to assist Democrats in passing their $1.7 trillion spending bill without a dime for new border security. Why would Mitch McConnell do this?

McConnell knows that the Republican majority in the House will hold the purse strings in two weeks.

If Mitch and the GOP controlled opposition can assist Democrats in passing this spending bill now it will weaken the House Republicans’ ability to hold thorough investigations and pressure the DOJ, FBI, and deep state players from cooperating. McConnell knows this. It also protects Mitch McConnell from divulging what he knew about the coup on Trump and the spying on Devin Nunes, among other things. The spending bill protects Mitch McConnell.

Or maybe Mitch is supporting the Democrat bill because he’s compromised and hates his voters? Maybe that’s it.

$1.7 Trillion Spending Bill Promotes Human Extinction to Save Animals

'Save the whales, kill your kids.'
December 21, 2022 by Daniel Greenfield

The $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill does maintain the federal government’s ongoing commitment to human genocide.

“One provision in the bill states that “not less than” $575 million “should be made available for family planning/reproductive health, including in areas where population growth threatens biodiversity or endangered species.”

The implications of this are pretty horrific as I discussed in this article from 2014.

The idea that the way to protect insects, fish and animals is by preventing human beings from having children is part of an approach known as Population, Health and Environment (PHE) which integrates population control into environmentalist initiatives.

PHE dates back to the 1980s and is practiced by mainstream organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund. The Smithsonian’s Woodrow Wilson Center, which is funded partly by the US government, aggressively champions PHE eugenics and USAID funds PHE programs and distributes PHE training manuals derived in part from Wilson Center materials.

Population Action International and the Sierra Club sponsored a congressional briefing on PHE post-2015. Population Action International was originally founded as the Population Crisis Committee in the sixties.

…the budget explicitly states that its goal is to reduce human population growth for the sake of the animals.

PHE initiatives keep popping up in massive federal spending bills without anyone paying much attention to them. Or willing to debate and condemn this effort to chain together a reduction in human population to the need to protect the sand flea or the kangaroo rat.

PHE is also incredibly racist because it often targets third-world countries.

Unfortunately, Republicans keep voting for massive spending bills like this $1.7 trillion monster that finance PHE.

The quick summary of PHE is, ‘Save the whales, kill your kids.’

Border Crisis: What Downtown El Paso Looks Like Before Title 42 Is Lifted

EL PASO, Texas — The streets by the city's Grey Hound bus station is starting to look more and more like Los Angeles' Skid Row neighborhood as hundreds of processed and released migrants who illegally crossed the U.S.-Mexico border continue to be dropped off by Border Patrol with nowhere to go.

The city has declared a state of emergency as local shelters and resources are being stretched thin due to the historic influx of crossings into the El Paso Sector. On Tuesday evening, hundreds of people once again prepared to spend the night outside as temperatures are expected to drop to the low 30's.

All of this is taking place as the Supreme Court is deciding whether to allow the Biden administration to lift Title 42, set to originally expire at midnight Wednesday, but even with the public health order in place, border cities are reaching a breaking point due to the continued large number of people illegally entering the United States to claim asylum.

Republican states have brought a lawsuit to keep Title 42 in place but the Department of Justice says they are prepared to handle the expected increase in border crossings.

As Townhall previously reported, El Paso International Airport has become a shelter for people who managed to secure a flight out of town. Blankets on the ground and entire rows of seats taken by the recently released migrants is now a common sight on the way to pick up checked bags.

The Texas National Guard has been deployed along a popular crossing spot at the Rio Grande, a move ordered by Governor Greg Abbott (R) to stem the tide of illegal entries prior to Title 42 going away.

Shipping containers, complete with razor wire and floodlights, have also been placed at the banks of the Rio Grande by Eagle Pass, Texas.

While Venezuelans have been recently subjected to Title 42, it appears that is no longer the case as many of the people I met on El Paso's streets were Venezuelans. Most recently, people crossing into El Paso have been from Colombia, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Peru, with Venezuelans waiting in Mexico for the order to be lifted.

Texas Governor Abbott is an Invasion Force Commander
22 December 2022

Texas Governor Abbott is one of the Invasion Commanders. Abbott is aiding and abetting the invasion of United States.

I have published this many times from ground zero.

As for now, we were just right here in El Pason (from the bridge above) 48 hours ago with recently retired LTC Pete “Doc” Chambers (Green Beret doctor who was in Texas National Guard), and two staffers of Congressman Tom Tiffany whom I took into Darien Gap last year.

Texas National Guard are NOT stopping the invasion. They are making photo ops and then aiding the invasion.

Abbott’s troops are acting as part of the invasion force. Taking over from where the cartels left off.

Texas National Guard is being used in a massive child and sex trafficking operation. United States and Texas governments are as guilty as Chinese Communist Party in modern slave trade.

America is a giant Epstein Island.

We were just right here but from above on the bridge:

How Digital Currencies Could Mark the End of Financial Freedom in America: Nick Corbishley

Crossroads with Joshua Philipp Published December 22, 2022

The United States may soon have its own digital dollar, which would track transactions while giving banks and governments full control over how people spend money. The New York Federal Reserve has launched a 12-week pilot program for a central bank digital currency, with participants including Mastercard, Citi, HSBC, TD Bank, Wells Fargo, and others. As this takes place, Nigeria has gone from rolling out a digital currency to forcing it on its citizens, by restricting the amount of physical cash people can withdraw.

Central bank digital currencies not only represent a new form of money, but also a new potential for tyrannical social control. This is according to Nick Corbishley, investigative journalist and author of “Scanned: Why Vaccine Passports and Digital IDs Will Mean the End of Privacy and Personal Freedom.” We speak with Corbishley about why what’s happening with digital currencies in New York and Nigeria matters for the world, how digital currencies can be used by authoritarian regimes, and where the world is heading if the new form of currency is not challenged.

Biden's border crisis is fueling growing cartel armies - now armed to the teeth and rivaling Mexico's military, warns TODD BENSMAN... so why is no one talking about this threat to American interests?

Todd Bensman is Senior National Security Fellow for the Center for Immigration Studies and author of 'Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed The Greatest Border Crisis In U.S. History'
For decades, illegal immigration amounted to a side hustle for Mexico's ultra-violent cartel mafias that control all the southern border smuggling lanes into America.

But no more.

President Joe Biden's election and America's subsequent mass migration crisis has bestowed such fabulous riches upon these criminal organizations that traditional drug trafficking is no longer the only prize worth dying for.

Nowadays, Mexican cartels are battling one another for control of an illegal immigrant smuggling boom. And the bonanza of illicit gains from it are being spent on growing and arming the ranks of the cartels' paramilitary armies - creating a economic and national security threat to the United States.

Yet, no one is talking about it.

Reporting indicates that human smuggling became a multi-billion-dollar business in 2021 and in 2022 it may have even surpassed drug smuggling proceeds.

No one knows exactely how much cartels really make, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intelligence has taken stabs at it.

One ICE estimate found that prior to 2018 human smuggling generated somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 million a year. That revenue may have gone as high as $13 billion in 2021 alone. A lower ICE estimate pinned the revenues between $2 billion to $6 billion per year.

America has always held the cartels in check by compelling Mexico's military and justice system to punish these criminal organizations when they crossed U.S. red lines.

Nearly four decades after the ghastly torture-murder of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent Enrique 'Kiki' Camarena by a cartel in the 1980s, Mexican Marines tracked down and captured the infamous drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero, who America holds responsible for the killing.

But what happens when those cartels can outgun the Mexican government?

The answer is that America would lose its current imperfect, wanting reliance on Mexico to do it's bidding. The day that happens is the day America will face serious security, public safety, and even wider-ranging economic impacts. And there's plenty of evidence to suggest that day has already arrived.

The cartels' growing arsenals and Mount Everest-sized piles of new bribery cash may inalterably compromise Mexico's central and state governments.

According to recent Washington Post reporting, Mexico's president has already substantially retreated from its decades-long symbiotic bi-national security partnership with the United States, withdrawing almost entirely from efforts to counter drug-trafficking and intelligence-sharing.

In large part, that's because Mexico's President Andrés Manuel Lopez-Obrador chose from the beginning of his term to leave the cartels alone on every front, even embracing a comical, yet official 'hugs, not bullets' policy toward them.

So no one is working to degrade the cartels as their strength grows.

It's impossible to know how much military hardware the revenues from the Biden border crisis have paid for, but the cartels are clearly reinvesting their massive profits.

In March 2022, inside four houses controlled by a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel in the northern State of Sonora, the Mexican army recovered 2.8 million rounds of ammunition, 89 hand grenades, 20 machine guns, six .50 caliber sniper rifles, more than 150 handguns and automatic rifles, and bulletproof vests.

In May 2022, U.S. authorities broke up a Cartel del Noreste scheme to buy $500,000 worth of machine guns, grenades, and rocket-propelled launchers to be smuggled south from the U.S. into Mexico.

An August 2022 report showed that the state of Tamaulipas seized 257 shop-built armored 'narco-tanks' from the cartels in recent years, so-called 'monsters' made of semis, SUVs, or pickup trucks encased in thick steel with machine-gun ports. Video shows well-kitted masked cartel soldiers filling them.

These are armies, with highly trained special forces units, supported by professional intelligence operations and run by warlords.

Will the Mexican military be able or willing to bring these cartels under control?

Consider an incident in 2019, when the Mexican army stormed a house in the Sinaloan city of Culiacan and arrested the 28-year-old son of convicted Sinaloa Cartel 'Los Chapitos' faction boss Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman. The eldest son, Ivan Guzman, quickly mustered a very significant private army and retook the entire city with armored vehicles and .50 caliber sniper rifles.

They outmaneuvered and outfought the Mexican forces during hours of gun battles and took families hostages. They threatened a bloodbath if Guzman's son was not released. The Mexican government capitulated and released Guzman's son in what was widely regarded as a humiliating military defeat at the hands of a mere paramilitary group.

When we see more such defeats — or perhaps worse, no effort to even try — we'll know to worry.

I'm not alone in my estimation that Biden's cartel-enriching mass migration crisis poses serious threats to important U.S. national interests, including many that are rarely discussed out loud, such as Mexican trade.

'I think the impacts are massive,' said former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Christopher Landau. 'The more power these groups have in Mexico, the less we can count on Mexico as a partner in combatting these groups and therefore the greater the challenge for us on everything dealing with Mexico: migration, counter-narcotics and even energy. Our economy is very bound up with Mexico's.'

Dare anyone finally say this out loud, but: the more militarily powerful the cartels become compared to Mexico's military, the more likely they will feel free to press a thumb down on the 212 million barrels of Mexican heavy crude oil the U.S. imported in 2021.

Perhaps, for any number of petty reasons of their own — anyone want a prisoner exchange, say a beloved drug-trafficking relative in a U.S. prison? — vengeful paramilitary overlords might want to meddle in Mexico's huge auto part export business upon which American car makers heavily depend.

Cartel puppet masters less worried about American-ordered retaliations against them inside Mexico might feel emboldened to make thousands of American companies feel less secure operating in the country.

Or they might do the same to the hundreds of thousands of American expatriates who make their homes and lives in Mexico. More Americans are concentrated in Mexico than anywhere else outside the U.S., an estimated 1.6 million.

In the meantime, anyone who believes all that shooting is just Mexico's problem and that America's mass migration crisis is really no big deal, the time has come to think again.

What is in the 4,000-page spending bill that Congress is set to vote on? Who knows because no one has read it! We've tried though and point out some crazy additions such as money for a new Ukraine Park in Washington, gender programs in Pakistan and, you guessed it, money for Ukraine.

If you're a journalist, should the Pentagon really love and miss you when you retire? We saw that in action when CNN reporter Barbara Starr retired recently. The Pentagon and Central Intelligence both thanked for for years of service. Service to the government? Um...that's not journalism. That's PR.

1975: Senator's Warning Of Intel Agencies Capability to Impose “Total Tyranny”

SettingBrushfires Published December 21, 2022

(Unidentified Senator from 1975 warning about the surveillance capabilities of our intelligence and the need to monitor and supervise what they are doing domestically.

This was likely Str. Frank Church.

From Wikipedia: The Church Committee (formally the United States Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities) was a US Senate select committee in 1975 that investigated abuses by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Chaired by Idaho Senator Frank Church (D-ID), the committee was part of a series of investigations into intelligence abuses in 1975, dubbed the "Year of Intelligence", including its House counterpart, the Pike Committee, and the presidential Rockefeller Commission. The committee's efforts led to the establishment of the permanent US Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.)
