Paul Gosar: “Vladimir Putin Didn’t Triple Your Gas Prices”

Jose Nino
Oct 11, 2022

With energy prices surging in the United States and Europe potentially facing a brutal winter, the political classes in the Collective West are quickly blaming Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for this price surge.

Hating on Russian President Vladimir Putin has been all the rage over the past decade. To be sure, the Russian government is not freedom-oriented and has taken several controversial geopolitical actions. But to blame it for the rising energy costs that have marked the West for the past two years is misleading at best.

For one, gas prices have been on an upward trajectory prior to the Russian military incursion into Ukraine on February 24, 2022. On top of that, these surges are the product of the supply chain shocks that government’s worldwide created in response to the Wuhan virus pandemic. To make matters worse, many Western countries, especially in Europe, have adopted destructive green policies that have left these countries vulnerable to disruptive energy shocks.

Try explaining that to fanatic pro-green energy advocates, however.

Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar spelled that out clearly in a tweet he posted on October 11, 2022. He tweeted, “Vladimir Putin didn’t triple your gas prices.”

Gosar has been a major opponent of the DC Swamp’s attempts to get the US bogged down in a geopolitical quagmire in Ukraine.

From a big picture point of view, the globalist class is using the current geopolitical crisis to enact a wide array of green energy policies and subject their populations to reduced living standards.

People should not fall for the Russia scapegoating and recognize that the real enemy and perpetrator of the current energy crisis lies in the DC Swamp, London, and Brussels.

Self-Inflicted Castration of Our National Defense: Whistleblower Testimony

By Alexandra Bruce
October 12, 2022

Video on website 31:28 min

Army Whistleblower Lt Col Theresa Long MD (flight surgeon) gives an impressive testimony of how the DoD, FDA and many other organizations are violating federal code and how the jabs are causing vaccine injuries to fighter pilots as well as how their medical records are being falsified to cover up jab injuries; injuries from brain tumors, cancer, and deadly heart conditions. She shows how the jabs are injuring and grounding many young military pilots. Find out the dangers they are facing.

Lt Col Theresa Long MD gave her whistleblower testimony to the Alaska Medical Freedom Symposium in Palmer, Alaska. Hundreds were in in attendance with many more watching live online across the state and throughout the US and Canada.

She has many choice words, such as:

Stop and think about it. The strategic compromise of our National Defense, that has occurred by surrendering unlimited power to a for-profit corporation, like the pharmaceutical corporation and regulatory agencies, like the NIH, ADA, CDC, FDA.

Members of Congress and the Senate must immediately demand the DoD present their investigation and summary findings of all VAERS reports on service members.

The impact of relentless coercion, intimidation, threats, abuse of authority, blatant disregard for bodily autonomy and religious freedom has directly resulted in devastation to medical readiness in the form of failed recruiting, retention, mass-resignations, forced separation of personnel that hold critical military occupational specialties, in addition to the attrition in the vaxxine-induced injury.

Despite the totality of this devastation to our force, senior officials at the highest level will not pivot from this self-inflicted castration of our national defense.

PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT

Of course, I have a heart for Alaska. I am an aerospace medicine doctor and aviation is the lifeline for hundreds of thousands of Alaskans and perhaps the only true way to appreciate the magnitude of Alaska’s beauty.

I served in the enlisted and officer ranks in the US Army since 1991. The Army as trained me as an expert in aerospace and occupational medicine. My testimony here today is based on my firsthand medical training, my background n public health, epidemiology research and as a flight surgeon.

Senator, I have grave concerns about the health and safety of our service men and women. Today, I’m going to cover six areas regarding how the vaxxine mandate has impacted the health and safety of our servicemen, degrading our national security.

My firsthand experience: Back in September 2021, when I submitted an affidavit in the Robert v. Austin case, in which I outlined how the DoD was violating its own risk management process in their push to mandate the vaxxination of every member of the armed forces with an experimental vaxxine.

After my testimony was made public, the DoD made no effort to investigate my safety concerns. On November 4, 2021, I was called to testify before the permanent ranking member of the subcommittee on investigations, Senator Ron Johnson.

In that testimony, I reported that in one day, I had to ground three out of three pilots for vaxxine injuries. One of those pilots, I spoke of was a college athlete. prior to being selected for flight training. Just prior to completing his training as an Apache pilot, I saw him for chest pain after vaxxination.

I subsequently diagnosed him with myocarditis or inflammation of the heart that left him with permanent scarring of the muscle so significant that it increased his risk of sudden cardiac death at the age of 24.

I filed a VAERS report on him, like have many other vaxxine-injured pilots. The cardiac damage was not compatible with continued flight status, nor was it compatible with continued military service.

Months after the soldier left Fort Rucker, I called him to check on him. I reviewed his medical records, only to discover that his immunization record had been altered to make it look as though he had been vaxxinated after he developed myocarditis.

A review of records stared to reveal a pattern of alterations in vaxxine records, several of which were pre-submitted VAERS reports.

Falsification of medical records is a crime.

These men and women; they are your sons and daughters. They are the best of us.

Evidence of harm: In 2021, after reviewing cases of two service members with pituitary tumors, our search for answers to determine if there was a pathio-physiologic basis that this new messenger RNA technology could cause brain tumors, I engaged the C19 group.

This was a group of over 450 doctors, scientists, mathematicians and Nobel laureates from around the world who were looking at early outpatient treatment options for SARS-CoV-2 and vaccine safety.

The answer to my question came right from research from Pfizer, that demonstrated that the spike protein is the pathogenic portion of the coronavirus, meaning it causes blood vessel dysfunction, leading to micro-clots and it also suppresses the tumor-suppressor gene that prevents cancer.

Then, experts pointed me to Pfizer’s own biodistribution study. The biodistribution study tells you where in the body the drug goes and how much of it concentrates in each organ.

I reviewed Pfizer’s biodistribution study that proved not only that the messenger RNA COVID vaxxine did not say locally in the muscle after injection, as we were told, but in fact, concentrated in the pituitary of the brain, the spinal cord, lung, liver, adrenal glands, ovaries, uterus, thyroid, bone marrow, heart, eyes.

If you look at the biodistribution study, you can see that over time, the concentration of the messenger RNA and the lipid nanoparticle increased in these critical areas.

So now, we have indisputable evidence of where the vaxxine could go and what it could do once it got there. The answer was yes, the messenger RNA, wrapped in a lipid nanoparticle delivery system crosses the blood-brain barrier and concentrates in the pituitary and spinal cord.

When I raised my concerns to the Director of the Defense Health Agency and forwarded her a copy of Pfizer’s biodistribution study, the response was, “It made no sense”.

In light of what we now know about the DoD’s collaboration with Pfizer to conduct a Phase III clinical research trial on DoD personnel, it is concerning that the very person who oversaw immunizations for the whole Defense Health Agency didn’t recognize Pfizer’s biodistribution study, nor the significance of the messenger RNA crossing the blood-brain barrier.

Here’s the second part and note the concentration in the ovaries is at almost 12 times more than anywhere else.

The Defense Medical Epidemiology Database: In the absence of transparency in a functioning medical surveillance system, I believe the information and expertise I gained from having access to the uncensored C19 group, my firsthand experience monitoring the heath of my brigade and the data from the Defense Medical Epidemiology Database uniquely have equipped me with valuable insight into the emerging deleterious effects of the COVID vaxxine on aviation safety.

As a brigade surgeon, I’m required to review the health of roughly 4,000 young, 20 to 30-year-old pilots, air crew members and soldiers every month. I have to give an accounting to the Commander on any pilot or air crew member whose medical condition prevents them from participating in flight training.

Biostatistical analysis of the past three years of these monthly health reviews shows alarming trends that started only after the introduction of the COVID-19 vaxxination. These trends are more obvious because the population is specifically selected for aviation duties based on their superior level of health and fitness.

In 15 years of taking care of soldiers, I have never seen the litany of debilitating and potentially deadly medical conditions that included strokes, transient-ischemic attacks, pericarditis, myocarditis, rapid-onset and progression of various cancers, to include testicular cancer, esophageal cancer, brain tumors, endocrine tumors, thyroid dysfunction, multiple sclerosis, cognitive impairment, persistent severe insomnia, suppression of the immune system, unprovoked clots in the splenic and portal vein, liver dysfunction, menstrual irregularities and miscarriages.

This cluster of medical conditions represented a dramatic shift in the acuity of medical conditions normally seen in this population.

When I reached to the Army Public Health Command and numerous senior medical leaders about my safety concerns, I was ignored. Threats against my career were made but no appropriate actions were taken to fully investigate the number and scope of adverse medical events after the vaxxination.

The DMED Database is a database in which military professionals can perform queries to determine medical trends among active duty personnel, using International Codes of Disease, ICD codes.

An ICD code corresponds to specific diseases, injuries or illness. Since the DoD uses one electronic medical records system, worldwide, the DMED is arguably one of the most accurate epidemiology databases in the United States.

For example, I could query how many times healthcare providers across the DoD had diagnosed an active duty service member with ICD I26, pulmonary embolism going all the way back to 1991. As you can see, these are cases of diagnoses of pulmonary embolisms that healthcare providers across the military have made, across the DoD in years 2016 through 2021.

I was unable to get transparency from senior medical leaders on vaccine adverse events, so I began looking at ICD in the DMED that corresponded to what medical conditions I was seeing in my population. The pathio-physiologic basis for these medical conditions was, again supported by Pfizer’s biodistribution study and further validated by their cumulative analysis of post-authorization adverse events.

Is it a coincidence that the unusual medical conditions I was seeing in my soldiers were the very medical conditions Pfizer and the FDA had seen during clinical trials?

Pfizer’s report detailed 1,291 significant and debilitating adverse events after vaxxination seen during the clinical trials. Here are some more of the DMED findings. You heard Rosie talk about her thyroid autoimmune disorder, pregnancy with abortive outcome, congenital malformations of babies, cancer of the breast.

When you dig the DMED data and you overlay the VAERS reports on service members, you see that the curves correlate perfectly.

Here is two out of the nine pages outlined in the 1,291 adverse events. All the conditions in blue are incompatible with safety of flight. All of the highlighted conditions in yellow are conditions I have personally seen.

In the FDA’s October 22, 2020 presentation regarding safety surveillance of COVID-19 vaxxines proves the FDA was aware these vaxxines were dangerous and deadly.

This list of devastating cardiovascular, neurologic, autoimmune, pregnancy and reproductive complications should have been unacceptable, not only in Army aviation but also for military leaders across the DoD. Physicians across the country and regulatory agencies across the USA.

After finding catastrophic DMED data, I had doctors, Sam Sigiloff and Lt Col Pete Chambers independently verify the data.

Within hours of the DMED data being presented to Senator Johnson, Moderna lost $140 billion in stock. When the DMED data was presented to the Aviation Center of Excellence Command General, Major General Francis and he demanded an explanation for the data from the Defense Health Agency, the DHA took 47 days to formulate a response to the data, with devastating National Security implications.

47 days to explain data and how was this data a surprise to the very people responsible for monitoring it.

The fact that the DHA had to be alerted to the data by me is at best an indictment of gross medical negligence and dereliction of duty in the medical surveillance of our force during the Superbowl of Pandemics and at worst, an intentional act of medical treason.

How could any military leader view the following data outlined from our own medical database and continue to order service members to take an experimental drug. At the very least, leaders should have reflexively stopped all vaccinations until a full investigation was completed.

These questions demand investigations and answers. The intentional harm of US Citizens and service members is unacceptable.

I requested and received a report from the CDC on the number and type of vaccine adverse events made on service members. There are 9,953 reports, 10% of which are deadly, debilitating or required hospitalization. There were 119 deaths after vaxxination of our service member men and women in one year, when there was 93 deaths of service members from all branches and components across the DoD attributed to the COVID infection in two years.

Over the last two years, military medical professionals have received numerous emails on a daily or weekly basis regarding everything COVID. What was missing was equal vigilance and fervor for risk communication on adverse medical events and complications after COVID vaxxines were mandated.

The CARES Act financially incentivized everything COVID except vaccine safety reporting. Medical professionals are required by law to file VAERS reports for monitoring vaccine safety that result in billions of dollars of profit for Big Pharma. But why, when our regulatory agencies are ignoring these safety signals?

Recently, the CDC Director admitted that the agency gave false information on COVID-19 safety monitoring. The very agencies Americans trusted to monitor the safety of this experimental vaccine admitted to being sound asleep at the wheel, while whistleblower doctors across the country dared to raise concerns were demonized, censored, silenced, reprimanded and retaliated against.

But what about the DoD? Surely, professionals tasked with the health surveillance of out fighting force would be vigilant in monitoring signals of harm from this drug. Unlike VAERS reports made by civilians, VAERS reports on service members were easily verified using the single electronic medical records system the DoD uses. VAERS reports on service members represented the single most accurate and verifiable accounts of post-vaxxination injury in the United States.

Yet, to date, military medical professionals across the DoD have never received any communication to indicate any such active medical surveillance has taken place. In fact, I am concerned that executives at Pfizer pharmaceuticals have superior transparency on the number, frequency and severity of these post-vaccination events than military personnel, who have a non-financial, fiduciary duty to the health of our force.

Cruz Accuses DOJ of Violating Free Speech of Trans Critics

'The weaponization of federal law enforcement agencies like the DOJ, in order to produce preferred policy outcomes, cannot continue... '

By Chris Parker
October 12, 2022

(Chris Parker, Headline USA) The federal government has gone so far in its defense and promotion of transgender lifestyles that it is now violating the First Amendment rights of many Americans, according to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

He is now demanding that the Justice Department and American Medical Association submit all communications after a request to Attorney General Merrick Garland’s office by the AMA to file charges against “disinformation campaigns” targeting transgender procedures for children, reported Rebel News.

While those communications have not yet been revealed, the AMA’s classification of “misinformation” likely includes those who are critical of the procedures, given the federal government’s history of supporting them.

Cruz accused the DOJ of a “continued pattern of abusing its investigative authority to police the speech of Americans and stifle ongoing policy debates.”

“This request by advocacy organizations to have the federal government stifle critical speech on their behalf would have been unthinkable before your tenure as Attorney General,” Cruz continued.

The letter to Garland was endorsed by senators Roger Marshall, R-Kan.; Mike Lee, R-Utah; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.; and Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., according to the Daily Signal.

The letter also addressed the National School Board union’s efforts to prosecute parents who express opposition to Critical Race Theory lessons in schools: “Five days later, in response to this letter, you issued your October 4th memorandum directing the FBI to involve itself in policing public discourse, using the NSBA letter as a pretext.

In compliance with your memorandum, the FBI’s Counterterrorism and Criminal Divisions created the threat tag ‘EDUOFFICIALS,’ and opened dozens of investigations into the activities of concerned parents.”

The letter over trans speech comes at a time when expert researchers and state health agencies have found that studies supporting transgender procedures for minors rely more on bias than actual science.

“Systematic reviews on hormonal treatment for young people show a trend of fact sheet low-quality evidence, small sample sizes, and medium to high risk of bias,” said one Florida Health letter.

Despite relying on facts and scientific studies, such reports could be labeled as illegal misinformation by the federal government, if the AMA’s requests are honored. It also effectively sets the precedent that the federal government can determine which opinions are “misinformed” and illegal.

“The issue of how best to treat minors struggling with their gender dysphoria is the subject of ongoing and emotional debate, which Americans have a protected First Amendment right to fully engage in,” said Cruz’s letter.

“The weaponization of federal law enforcement agencies like the DOJ, in order to produce preferred policy outcomes, cannot continue — our democracy depends on it,” the letter argued.

Gender Clinic Doctor: Transition Regret of Minors ‘Doesn’t Surprise Me’

SPENCER LINDQUIST10 Oct 202277

Regret “is there, and I don’t think that surprises any of us,” a pediatric endocrinologist remarked in reference to child transitions in a video obtained by Project Veritas.

Dr. Daniel Metzger made a number of startling admissions in a talk to the World Professional Health Organization (WPATH), which creates widely used standards of care that are followed by hospitals across the country.

“It’s always a good theory that you talk about fertility preservation with a 14-year-old, but I know I’m talking to a blank wall,” remarked Metzger, a pediatric endocrinologist at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital.

Metzger also commented on the regret of patients, saying, “It doesn’t surprise me, but I don’t know what to do for the 14-year-olds.”

“We try to talk about it, but most of the kids are nowhere in any kind of brain space to really, really, really talk about it in a serious way,” Metzger added.
One woman who regrets her decision to attempt to transition spoke with reporter Lauren Southern, telling her about the pain and suffering that comes from attempting to transition. She told Southern that when she realized she made a mistake “It was a really dark place, the one thought was ‘it’s too late to go back.”

According to their website, the British Columbia Children’s Hospital “provides treatment with puberty blockers and/or gender-affirming hormones for transgender and gender-questioning youth.”

The hospital also boasts that they “have one of the busiest clinics in North America,” in reference to their gender clinic.

The news comes as the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Children’s Hospital Association called on the Department of Justice to “investigate and prosecute” reporters and commentators who oppose the campaign to normalize child transgenderism.

Breitbart News revealed that children’s hospitals across the country have actively promoted transgender ideology. A vast array of children’s hospitals, particularly those that offer puberty blockers and hormone therapy, sponsored pride parades across the country.

In addition, Breitbart News has documented a number of financial ties between puberty blocker companies, pro-trans activism, and the directors of gender clinics at children’s hospitals.

Bidenflation Has American Consumers Anxious About Affordability of Basic Items

ETHAN LETKEMAN10 Oct 2022114

High inflation under Democrat President Joe Biden’s economy is making American consumers anxious about the affordability of basic necessities — such as housing, food, and gasoline.

One Los Angeles resident tells KABC that getting a head start as a young person is challenging as basic items seem out of reach due to skyrocketing prices.

“I think that owning a home, a car, or even having your own apartment is becoming really difficult, especially [if you’re paying] for student loans,” Brandon Retana told the outlet

“Wages are not keeping up with inflation,” he added.

Retana, who lives in one of the nation’s most expensive housing markets, would also likely feel financially squeezed regarding rental prices. In Democrat-controlled Los Angeles, rent prices have increased by 6.1 percent in September from the previous year, according to RedFin. Rental prices nationwide are up by 11 percent after reaching a whopping 19 percent in March.

The rising cost of living is causing California renters to feel anxious, as four-in-ten residents are having challenges in paying household expenses and fear being evicted, per a Census Bureau’s Household pulse survey.

Low-income renters in Los Angeles and the Golden State have good reason to worry, as high rent prices can set a family back for years if they are not able to pay, according to UCLA economics professor Jerry Nickelsburg.

“Someone who is on a fixed income, who is a low-income American, may find that the rent is beyond what they can pay, and if that results in homelessness, it could affect him for years,” Nickelsburg told KABC.

Gasoline in the City of Angels has also risen to absurd record highs, as fuel prices soared to $6.466 per gallon at the beginning of October. Gasoline prices across the nation jumped by 25.6 percent in August from the previous year.

Overall inflation rose by 8.3 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor statistics.

Grocery prices — another basic necessity — increased by 13.5 percent. According to government data, the costs of food purchased by Americans in August saw the most inflation since 1979,

Many American consumers, along with Retana, share a similarly pessimistic view of the economy. According to the University of Michigan, the consumer sentiment index at the end of September was 58.6, down from 19.5 percent a year ago.

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine Effectiveness Turns Negative Within Months: Study

By Zachary Stieber October 10, 2022 Updated: October 11, 2022biggersmaller Print

The effectiveness of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine against infection turns negative over time, according to a new study that was funded by the vaccine maker.

The effectiveness of three doses—a primary series and a booster—against infection remained above 50 percent after 150 days against BA.1, a subvariant of the Omicron virus variant, researchers estimated.

However, against more recent strains, including the currently dominant BA.5, the effectiveness turned negative. Against BA.2, BA.4, and BA.5, the effectiveness went negative after 150 days; against BA.1.12.1, the effectiveness turned negative after 91 days.

Negative effectiveness means that a vaccinated person is more likely to contract COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, than an unvaccinated person.

Researchers with Moderna and Kaiser Permanente, which carried out the study, also found that people who received three Moderna doses were more likely to become infected when compared to people who received just two doses.

Researchers said that they attempted to reduce potential bias by taking actions such as adjusting for comorbidities, but that some confounding may remain.

They said that some of the negative effectiveness estimates “could be due to differential risk behaviors among vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals when protection from antibodies becomes minimal.”

Hung Fu Tseng, a researcher with Kaiser Permanente Southern California and the study’s corresponding author, declined to provide evidence for the statement or otherwise comment on the negative effectiveness estimates.

“The manuscript is under review by a journal. I can’t comment on your questions now. I can, however, answer your question when it is accepted,” Tseng told The Epoch Times in an email.

The study was published ahead of peer review on medRxiv, a preprint server. Researchers reached the numbers after analyzing data from Kaiser Permanente Southern California, which provides health care and insurance to millions of members.

Moderna officials didn’t respond to a request for comment.

While researchers did estimate that the vaccine remains protective against severe illness, they didn’t separate the effectiveness estimates by time since vaccination.

A slew of other studies and analyses have found that the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines turns negative over time, including a study that estimated the protection for children aged 5 to 11 turned negative after 18 or 20 weeks, and an analysis of data from a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) testing program that estimated the shielding turned negative around six months.

Swedish researchers in September concluded that effectiveness turned negative within several months.

“Somewhat implausibly, we even observed a negative VE against Omicron infection from week 14, indicating that vaccinated individuals experienced a higher risk of infection than those unvaccinated,” they wrote in a preprint paper. “This may relate to harvesting bias in this analysis of the first event of a common outcome (as infection with Omicron is getting close to ubiquitous in many areas now). More unvaccinated individuals had already been infected, leaving a larger pool of vaccinated individuals susceptible to their first infection later by Omicron.

“As a result, a higher risk among vaccinated individuals might be observed for a limited time period.”

The CDC continues to recommend vaccination for virtually every person aged 6 months or older.

Major Russia-Germany Oil Pipeline Partially Shut After Leak

WEDNESDAY, OCT 12, 2022 - 04:42 AM
Update (0815ET):

Here's a summary of the Druzhba pipeline leak via Newsquawk:

Polish pipeline operator said on Tuesday evening it detected a leak in the Druzhba pipeline; cause is unknown; leak detected in one of two lines, second line is working as normal. Russia's Transfneft said it has received notice from Polish operator PERN about the leak at Druzbha; oil pumping towards Poland continues, according to IFX. Polish top official for energy infrastructure said there are no grounds to believe leak in Druzhba pipeline was sabotage, adds leak was probably caused by accidental damage. Germany State of Brandenburg Economy Minister said there was a pressure drop in Druzhba's main pipeline No.2, according to dpa. Polish pipeline operator PERN said supply to German clients is continuing taking into account technical possibilities; Polish refineries are receiving oil in line with nominations.

Brent crude is up about half a percent after the news. Limited global production capacity plus the OPEC+ production cut announcement last week has recently sent crude prices near $100 a barrel.

A major pipeline carrying crude oil from Russia to Germany was halted after a leak was discovered as Europe grapples with energy infrastructure issues in recent weeks.

The leak was detected on a section of the Druzhba pipeline, Europe's largest crude oil conduit. Bloomberg said Polish operator PERN stopped flows through one of the pipeline's northern sections. It said the leak was discovered near the village of Zurawice, about 112 miles west of Warsaw in central Poland.

"The cause of the incident is not known for the moment. Pumping in the affected line was immediately stopped. Line 2 of the pipeline is functioning normally," PERN said.

1665578364779.png

Poland's top energy official, Mateusz Berger, told Reuters it appears the leak was due to "accidental damage."

"At this point, all PERN services (technical, operational, in-house fire brigade and environmental protection) are taking action in accordance with the algorithms provided for this type of situation," the operator said.

Local Polish news outlet PAP quoted PERN spokeswoman Katarzyna Krasinska who said Druzhba was supplying two refineries in Germany, one in Schwedt and the other in Spergau.

So far, no disruptions have been reported at the refineries. The refinery in Schwedt supplies 90% of Berlin's fuel. Any disruptions could lead to fuel shortages across parts of Europe's largest economy. Reuters data shows Druzhba had flows of 490,000 barrels daily of Russian Urals oil to Europe before the leak.

The Druzhba pipeline leak comes weeks after Russia's Nord Stream pipelines underneath the Baltic Sea were blown up in an act of sabotage. German and EU leaders have accused Russia of sabotaging Nord Stream.

This past weekend, someone severed cables that brought a major train network in northern Germany to a screeching halt for hours.

Suddenly, critical infrastructure 'accidents' and/or sabotages appear to be increasing around Europe. Countries are racing to secure energy assets ahead of winter.

THIS Labor Dept. rule would DESTROY economic freedom

AMLnZu_JigBhSNHU1jYzFG0VQvXSee-mCSe60pw87sA6OA=s88-c-k-c0x00ffffff-no-rj

Glenn Beck

Biden’s Labor Department recently proposed a new rule that not only would result in jobs lost, but it would CRUSH your economic freedom as well. Carol Roth, economic expert and author of ‘The War On Small Business,’ joins Glenn to explain how this policy would flip the gig economy upside down — along with the millions of contracted workers within it. And even worse? Roth says the big players involved — like Uber and DoorDash, for example — could survive such a change. But it’s far less likely the small business owner could say the same. This is a BIG win for BIG business, BIG government, and the BIG unions…

‘Moo’ Intelligence: Google’s New Sustainability Initiative Misrepresents U.S. Beef

By GREG HENDERSON October 12, 2022
Greg Henderson

Among America’s great success stories, Google is up there with the best of them: Henry Ford’s cars, Sam Walton’s general stores, Steve Jobs' minicomputer/phone/flashlights.

Google's search engine technology, e-commerce and artificial intelligence have fueled the company's rapid ascent – it's not yet 25 years old – to annual revenues that top $250 billion. Some even call Google the “most powerful company in the world” and certainly one of the most valuable brands.

The company hires engineers and computer scientists by the busload. Yet, despite all of those nerds on the payroll Google is short-handed on "moo" intelligence and it just insulted America’s cowboys with its new sustainability feature.

Unveiled this week, Google now offers the ability to view information about the environmental impact of certain choices – “from buying a new car or pre-owned clothing to planning a driving route or weekday meal.” That includes information about how Google evaluates beef, which is to say, Google’s metrics are heavily slanted against beef.

That quickly drew the ire of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, which denounced Google’s initiative as an attempt to bias consumers against beef through their new sustainability search feature that provides inaccurate climate information on cattle production.

“Google is using its billions of dollars of resources to target cattle producers and ignore the science that demonstrates beef’s sustainability and value to the environment,” said NCBA President Don Schiefelbein, a Minnesota cattle producer. “Cattle producers have a demonstrated record of continuous improvement, which has led to the United States recording the lowest global greenhouse gas emissions from beef while contributing to food security for the world. Additionally, cattle production protects green space, upcycles grass and forages, and provides consumers with a lean protein source packed with essential nutrients. Google should seriously reconsider this feature.”

Google apparently relied on some U.N. emissions data on beef globally, which doesn’t take into account how much more sustainably American beef is produced.

Hmmm…. You would think the company could have Googled that information!

NCBA says livestock play an important role in protecting open spaces and account for only a very small portion of greenhouse gas emissions. Eliminating all livestock in the U.S. and removing beef from the diet would only reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.36% globally. NCBA is urging Google to consider the science of beef production before making this new feature widely available.

Did the Yield Drops in USDA's Reports Put a Floor Under Grain Prices?

The U.S. corn and soybean crops keep getting smaller. Production for both crops is down from September 2022, according to the Crop Production report issued Oct. 12 by USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Corn yields are expected to average 171.9 bu. per harvested acre, down 0.6 bu. from the previous forecast and down 4.8 bu. from 2021. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 80.8 million acres, unchanged from the previous forecast. As a result, corn production is down 8% from 2021, forecast at 13.9 billion bushels.

For soybeans, yields are expected to average 49.8 bu. per acre, down 0.7 bu. from the previous forecast and down 1.9 bu. from 2021. Area harvested for beans in the U.S. is forecast at 86.6 million acres, unchanged from the previous forecast but up slightly from 2021. This means soybean production is forecast at 4.31 billion bushels, down 3% from last year.

“The USDA report was certainly NOT bearish with the drop in yield estimates for both corn and beans,” says Jon Scheve, president of grain for Superior Feed Ingredients. “Historically speaking, when USDA has dropped the yield estimate in September and October, there is better than a 60% chance they will drop the yield again in the January report.”

As a result, Scheve says, this report likely put a floor under prices the balance of the calendar year.

While analysts ahead of the report were expecting a drop in corn yield, the soybean yield decline was not expected, says Bill Biedermann, AgMarket.Net co-founder, and the market responded quickly.

“That was a surprise that created a supply drop by 65 million bushels,” he says. “However, it did offset the more soybean stocks USDA found in the last quarterly grain stocks report. So, it was a net loss of 30 million bushels.”

USDA lowered demand and left soybean ending stocks unchanged.
“That means we don’t have a plentiful supply,” Biedermann says. “That’s only a 4.5 stocks-to-use ratio, which is only 16 days’ worth of supply. So even though it was a bearish demand revision, it's still a very tight situation.”

This is the tightest stocks-to-use ratio for soybeans since 2013, Scheve adds.
“Following the harvest in 2013, beans saw a dramatic rally in futures in the winter,” he says.

WILL CORN PRICES RALLY THIS WINTER?

For corn, USDA lowered exports by 125 million bushels and lowered ethanol use by 50 million bushels. However, USDA increased feed and residual use by 50 million bushels. With supply falling more than use, corn ending stocks for 2022/23 are cut 47 million bushels.

For USDA to drop corn ending stocks below 1.2 billion bushels, which they established as the pipeline requirement in 2022, is quite a statement, Biedermann says.

“We're down to an 8.2% stocks-to-use ratio, which is only a 30-day supply of corn on hand,” he says. “So, if we don't see further cuts in demand, or revision upward in yield, this market is going to be extremely buoyant if there's any kind of a problem in South America.”

Scheve says the current stocks-to-use ratio for corn is equal to the 2020 crop year.

“That was when the market had one of the best post-harvest rallies of all time,” he says.

FUTURE GRAIN PRICE DRIVERS

The market will now start focusing intensely on South American weather, Scheve says.

“The world stocks are still tight and there is a real need for good production levels to be attained to push prices lower,” he says. “With the threat of La Nina present until after the new year, it leaves the South American crop with elevated chances of reduced yield and higher prices.”

Obviously, Scheve adds, demand destruction could still hurt a post-harvest rally for either crop and the Mississippi River’s low water levels will continue to be monitored to see what effects it could have on export pace.

The next 30 days will be important for the grain markets, Biedermann adds.
“I think USDA is trying to figure out how to balance the books and not cause fear and panic in the marketplace and on either side of it,” he says. “They're shooting right down the middle, which they should do until they see more statistics on how we come out. We need more yield data coming in, and we need to see how this economic macro picture and how the river system picture looks 30 days from now.”

China Set to Import Brazilian Corn Amid U.S. Supply Challenges

By PRO FARMER EDITORS October 12, 2022

China may start importing corn from Brazil as early as December, part of a drive to reduce dependence on the U.S. and replace supplies from Ukraine limited by the Russian invasion, according to Bloomberg. Some 45 facilities owned by companies including Bunge Ltd., Cargill Inc. and Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. have been pre-approved by Brazil to export to China, a list seen by Bloomberg shows. The final total likely will be higher.

China is taking steps to accelerate imports of Brazilian corn, diversifying supply at a time when the war in Ukraine has disrupted trade and tensions with the U.S. are high. Strong U.S. prices compounded by a recent 20-year highs in the dollar, have increased China’s urgency in finding alternative cargoes.

Land O’Lakes CEO Praises U.S. Farmers for Their Role in Food Security

By PAT MELGARES October 12, 2022

The leader of one of America’s largest food and agriculture companies said Oct. 11 the country’s farmers should be celebrated for their crucial role in providing food security, even if their work is sometimes overlooked.

Beth Ford, president and CEO of Land O’Lakes, Inc., was the featured guest for the Henry C. Gardiner Global Food Systems lecture series, held at Kansas State University’s McCain Auditorium. She spoke for nearly an hour in a chat moderated by Tyne Morgan, the executive producer of U.S. Farm Report.

Ford leads a company that recently launched a campaign that promotes the future of agriculture as being ‘rooted in tomorrow.’

“We were really thinking about how we can connect farmers and what they do on a daily basis with those who are not familiar with agriculture,” Ford said. “And right now, that’s most people because less than 1% of the world population is directly involved in agriculture. Folks don’t understand farming, they don’t understand the food supply and they don’t understand the hard work that goes into it every day.”

Ford likened food security to national security: “And I think of farmers as the original environmentalists, the original entrepreneurs; they’re constantly reinvesting in their land for all of us. And they need to be loud about that. We want folks to understand that farmers…solve big problems.”

Ford called the world population’s lack of of awareness about agriculture and the food supply “frightening, actually.”

In order to feed a world population estimated to grow to nearly 10 billion people, “we have to make more food by 2050 than the previous 5000 years combined. That is the challenge. This is meaningful work, important work, and it starts with the farmer.”

“When I say food security is national security, most people say, ‘oh yeah I agree with that.’ But I don’t know if people just think food just pops up on the retail shelf.”

Ford said her position with a leading agriculture company provides certain privileges to work on many of the greatest challenges facing agriculture.

One that is dear to her, she said, is the American Connection Project, a Land O’Lakes effort to bridge the digital divide common to many rural areas. More than 175 American companies and organizations – including the U.S. Department of Commerce and Microsoft – have worked together to provide free broadband and Wi-Fi in many rural American communities.

Ford said the group has successfully gained bipartisan support for legislation to bridge the digital divide, and $65 billion from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

“We can not wait for years to have this occur,” she said. “That effort has been tremendously successfully, but we are going to be even more successful when we can get everything implemented across the country.”

Ford said three other issues are “top of my mind” as challenges for American agriculture:

“Number one,” she said, “it is unacceptable that we have stopped investing in agricultural research at the federal government level. I say this because China is out-stripping us 5-to-1; our country is at 1970s-level funding for ag research.”

“We need the best thinking and best technology in agriculture to meet this grand challenge of creating more than by 2050 than all the previous years combined.”

A second challenge: Immigration reform. “We have to have labor in this country,” Ford said. “We are 2.5 million workers short. When I’ve met with companies and senators…what makes me said is that nobody – from both sides of the (political) aisle) -- disagrees that we need labor. And yet here we sit. We are not making a change.”

“I get the conversation around border security. We need border security. But we need a solution because more than 6 million acres of American land were not planted last year because of a lack of labor. In the central valley of California, about one-third of hand-picked crops were not harvested last year because there is no labor. We have got to solve this problem and come up with a solution.”

Ford said water is a third challenge for American agriculture. “That’s a state-by-state challenge, and I’m concerned because there are federal implications. When there is a fight for water between rural and urban areas, most people don’t understand the needs in rural areas for agriculture and the food supply.”

“I would love to have a water policy; I’m not talking about water rights. I’m talking about investments in reservoirs, piping, desalination (and more)… We need to figure out what technology we can use to give ourselves an advantage over time and be resilient against our changing climate.”

“Those are the three things where I think we (Land O’Lakes) are investing additional time and making a push to saying we need to have this conversation. These are going to be profound issues for (Americans) if we don’t solve them.”

Ford has been president and CEO of Land O’Lakes – a Fortune 200 food production and agribusiness company – since 2018. Her 35-year career spans six industries at seven companies.

She has previously been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders and Most Powerful Women, and named to Fast Company’s Best Leaders list. She was featured recently in the New York Times’ Corner Office column, and profiled in a 60 Minutes’ segment titled ‘The Farmers Advocate.’

Kansas State University established the Henry C. Gardiner Global Food Systems lecture series to provide science-based education about world food issues.

The series allows students, faculty, staff and Kansas citizens to interact with U.S. and international food industry leaders on topics of current interest.

The lecture series is funded by the Gardiner family of Ashland, Kan. Henry C. Gardiner, who passed away just days before the first lecture in 2015, was known as a visionary leader who dedicated his career to improving the beef industry through science and technology.

A transcript and video of Ford’s chat with Morgan will be posted online, when available, on the website for K-State’s Henry C. Gardiner Global Food Systems lecture series.

Nebraska Farmers Harvest Disappointing Crop in a Season Plagued by Drought

Nebraska Harvest 101222
By MICHELLE ROOK October 12, 2022

Video on website 2:07 min
Harvest results in Nebraska are understandably disappointing with some of the driest conditions during the season since the drought of 2012.

Mike Korth farms in one of the driest parts of the state and received less than 6 inches of rain since January 1. He says it isn't as dry as 2012 but close. He says, "In Nebraska the driest part of the state is right what we’re sitting it. This is what they call an exceptional drought. And there’s a pretty good chunk of red here that covers about 4 counties. "

It wasn’t just the lack of moisture, but the heat that pulled irrigated soybean yields down by 10 to 15% from normal and dryland yields were much worse. Korth says, "They’re probably down about 25% and even more on an extremely dry area its worse than that, about 50%. So it’s a little disappointing."

Irrigated corn yields are also about 10% below his APH and dryland production is a near disaster on some fields with lighter soil. Korth says, "They are probably down 50% to 60%. I mean one did not register hardly. I did another field that made in the 40s, did one in the 60s and one that did 120.

Craig Ebberson farms near Belden, Nebraska and picked up a few more rains late in the season to help dryland soybeans and irrigated won’t be far off farm averages. "We’ve got some beans that, irrigated beans are in the 70s. Some dryland beans we’ve had some in the 50s and some in the 40-range."

His dryland corn is a disaster, but irrigated corn is only off about 20-bushels from last year. Ebberson says, "Our irrigated corn we’re getting some 250s, 260s on the irrigated corn. Some of our dryland on good farms is yielding well into the 100s. Some of the dryland that we cut early for silage is pretty poor, probably 40-50 bushel corn.”

Test weights on corn are running in the upper 50s and the corn has been drying down fast with the continued warm, dry harvest weather. Ebberson says, "Hopefully we won’t have to dry any corn that’s our hope anyway.

Ebberson says with crop insurance and higher prices he’ll still have a pretty good year, but for the state 2022 will go down as one of the worst in recent memory. "I’m sure the state will be considerably lower than last year for sure. At once I thought the yields on dryland would be 50 bushels behind last year average and I think that’s probably a fairly close guess."

Commentary: Intensive agriculture evolves in world's Salad Bowl
October 12, 2022

By Norm Groot

The Salinas Valley is known as the Salad Bowl of the World—mainly because we produce much of the fresh produce that Americans and many others around the globe put on their dinner tables each night. These days, healthy diets may inevitably include fresh veggies, leafy greens and berries produced nearly year-round in Monterey County.

Farming in Monterey County has evolved considerably from the days of the rancho haciendas. What we produce here barely compares with where commercial farming started more than 150 years ago with grain crops and then sugar beets.

That’s because our farmers and ranchers know how to adapt. The crop selections here have undergone constant evolution, changing with new agronomics and varying market conditions. Monterey County Farm Bureau is proud to have played a part in this adaptive change over the last 105 years.

Improved irrigation technologies and infrastructure and better agronomics for producing quick-turn crops such as lettuce, broccoli and spinach have driven that change. Advances in vineyard production technology have yielded better winegrapes while using fewer resources such as water.

We are similarly known for our outstanding berry production fields and the bounty of strawberries produced locally each year. We have also taken food-safety practices to a higher level, ensuring a safe, fresh food supply.

All this change requires innovation on the part of our farmers and ranchers, as well as those who support us with research and field trials. Yes, that’s a shout-out to our excellent farm advisors at the University of California Cooperative Extension.

We are constantly moving forward with sustainable farming practices that profoundly improve our efficiency and yield. We care for the resources in our working environment. And now, innovation is taking many of our farms into regenerative practices that seek to take improvements in food production to the next level.

We call this our brand of intensive agriculture because we can produce nearly year-round with the resources of soil, water and climate that make the Central Coast a high-value, food-production region.

We harvest almost continuously due to crop rotations and market-supply demands. It takes a lot of hands to harvest those fresh-food items simply because it is difficult to develop robotic harvesting tools that replace skilled hand-eye coordination. Farmworkers are treated with dignity and respect in the workplace because their employers care for their well-being. Many farm employees earn well above the minimum wage, in tune with their valued skills and endurance in physical labor situations.

We are fortunate to have numerous startup companies providing leading-edge technologies and equipment to further advancements in farming. Production agriculture—indeed, our intensive agriculture—is attracting significant innovations to provide better crop yields, improve soil health and irrigation efficiency, and ease the burden of hand labor. Innovation will eventually figure out how to harvest a strawberry, an artichoke and a head of lettuce using robotics.

Another example of resource management that is hardly recognized is the increase in our local crop yields by 45% in the past 25 years while using almost 20% less irrigation water. This has been accomplished through a will to improve efficiency and development of technologies such as microirrigation and fertigation. Farmers look at this as their investment in the future in that it allows them to use the same resources each year for outstanding crop production yields.

Continual improvement is also driven by market forces, and ultimately, by the consumer. Innovation has led to more value-added products such as bagged leafy greens, providing convenience for those of us with busy lives. Add in veggie trays and complete salads with proteins, and the consumer benefits from the innovation provided by intensive agriculture in the Salinas Valley. Not a week seems to go by without a new convenience item being introduced in response to market demand.

Many in the public may be quick to unfairly criticize our working environment and our brand of intensive agriculture as harmful and a drain on resources. Yet, this working environment is the place where farmers have been effectively managing their resources for 150 years. They have done so in an evolutionary manner that allows continued production on the same fields with decreasing inputs—meaning we continue producing more with less.

As we consider our food security in the coming decade and the importance of a reliable, safe and affordable domestic food supply chain, let’s not overlook the great accomplishments of our farmers and ranchers each year.

We all need to eat, and Monterey County produces food for America and beyond with ever-increasing efficiency. Our brand of intensive agriculture is what puts fresh food on our tables each and every day. Yes, our approach to farming is unique. It is also essential.

Newsom advisor warns of climate threats to farming

October 12, 2022
By Christine Souza CFBF

California is preparing for a drier future.

Climate impacts affecting the state, such as drought, a shrinking snowpack, higher temperatures and wildfires, were central to a discussion last week by California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross and members of the state board of food and agriculture.

“California’s water supply strategy focuses on developing new water supplies, expanding storage, reducing demand and improving overall data and management,” Ross said. “As we look at a hotter and drier future, I know that California’s farmers and ranchers will continue to adapt and lead the nation in water-use efficiency and conservation.”

Speaking at the Oct. 4 board meeting, Kayla Ungar, CDFA special advisor for climate, water and drought, discussed Gov. Gavin Newsom’s water-supply strategy released in August. The plan outlines the state’s priority actions to adapt and protect water supplies in the face of a hotter, drier climate, she explained. She suggested that “more impacts are coming” from climate change.

Anticipated impacts, she said, include a temperature increase of up to 4.4 to 5.9 degrees, more heat events and a one-third decline in snowpack, even if precipitation remains stable. That would result in a 10% reduction in the state’s existing water supply by 2040. In addition, California expects to deal with rising sea levels and more wildfires, she said.

“Together, these impacts are an existential threat to agriculture and in particular, eight out of the 20 major crops grown in California, including almonds, wine grapes, table grapes, strawberries, hay, walnuts, freestone peaches and cherries,” Ungar said. “California’s managed water supply is currently 60 to 90 million acre-feet per year. The impact of a drier climate means the disappearance of about 6 to 9 million acre-feet of water supply.”

Newsom’s water-supply strategy prioritizes actions to capture, recycle, desalinize and conserve more water, and includes increasing storage by creating space for up to 4 million acre-feet, so the state can capitalize on big storms and store water for dry periods.

Other goals include building the water-storage projects voters approved in the 2014 Proposition 1 water bond, plus raising San Luis Reservoir and expanding groundwater recharge.

“To match the pace of climate change, California must move smarter and faster to update our water systems,” Ungar said.

Climate scientist Jonathan Overpeck made a presentation to the board about aridification, or the gradual change from a wetter to a drier climate. “I think things are changing dramatically,” said Overpeck, the Samuel A. Graham dean of the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan.

“It turns out, though, that warming is making the droughts a lot worse, more frequent and persistent,” Overpeck said. “The same warming is what’s leading to more wildfires, more heat waves and much worse tropical cyclone or hurricane disasters.”

While the severity of the warming is not the same everywhere, Overpeck said, warming has increased by about 1 degree Celsius or 2 degrees Fahrenheit. A failure to rein in climate change means warming could increase even more.

“In much of the West, much of the planet, the growing season has lengthened,” Overpeck said. “Spring comes earlier, winter comes later in the year, and that means, for example, in the headwaters of the Colorado River that the growing season is six weeks longer than it used to be. If it’s hot and dry enough, long enough, or it’s not raining, then you’re actually going to wilt and kill plants.”

California forests are experiencing more tree mortality due to warming, he said, adding that the snowpack is being lost to the atmosphere, and groundwater aquifers are becoming depleted.

“We have to cut our water use, but it’s not enough,” he said, adding that water security risks are affecting the entire planet.

“It’s going to be overwhelmed by climate change, so the sooner we get everyone acting on climate change just as aggressively or more than California, the sooner we are going to stabilize our sustainable water supplies and keep them from shrinking,” Overpeck said.

Newsom’s 2020 Water Resilience Portfolio called for voluntary agreements, a collaborative approach and an alternative to the 55% unimpaired flows for tributaries sought by the California State Water Resources Control Board.

David Guy, president of the Northern California Water Association, said “there’s a ton of momentum”for the voluntary agreement framework for the Sacramento River tributaries.

“We’ve actually already completed some projects under the voluntary agreement process, and there’s several more that are already in the pipeline under construction in all four rivers,” Guy said of the agreements, which include a portfolio of flows and projects to reactivate the landscape.

“All of this works in harmony,” Guy added. “Those of you who are farmers, you can farm in the spring and summer and in the fall. You put some water out for decomposition or for some other purposes that can really help birds in the Pacific Flyway.”

Guy said a governance proposal for the effort was submitted to the state water board. Once approved, he said, the plan would be an eight-year agreement with the potential for an extension to 15 years.

During the meeting, the board heard from California recipients of federal climate-smart commodity programs that will be implemented in state. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing up to $2.8 billion in 70 selected projects under the first pool of funding. Projects from the second funding pool will be announced later this year.

Looking ahead to the 2023 water year, California State Board of Food and Agriculture President Don Cameron said “California agriculture must do its part to reduce overall demand, while maintaining family farms, markets, communities and our overall food security.”

“We remain hopeful for a drought-ending season,” Cameron added. “But understand that business as usual is a not a path forward.”

Amid continuing drought, Lake Oroville in Butte County stood at just 34% of capacity on Oct. 5. Scientists say droughts are now more frequent and persistent.

^^^^^
on the other hand: (Explanation - they have used this myth of climate emergency to justify temporarily taking water rights in existence since the 1850-70s because the state wanted to use the water elsewhere. The West coast weather is driven by the southern decadal oscillation which causes cycles of La Nina and El Nino.

Gaslighting On Gas Prices
How do politicians get away with blaming others for the consequences of their policies?

Michael Shellenberger

In response to $6 per gallon gasoline prices, which are nearly 70% higher than the $3.81 national average, California Governor Gavin Newsom will convene a special session of the state legislature in December to enact a “windfall profits tax” on oil companies that he said are price gouging.

“Crude oil prices are down but oil and gas companies have jacked up prices at the pump in California,” said Newsom. “This doesn’t add up. We’re not going to stand by while greedy oil companies fleece Californians.”

But there is no evidence of illegal price setting, and a new tax on oil companies would increase prices further.

Last week, a federal judge in San Diego issued a 103-page ruling dismissing a class-action lawsuit that claimed traders at oil companies had colluded to keep prices high. The scope of the case was massive and spanned seven years of litigation.

As for a new tax, a 2006 report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service found that a new windfall profit tax on oil companies, which had been in place in the 1980s, would have “adverse economic effects,” including higher prices, lower domestic production, and increased foreign imports.

The San Diego judge did find that oil companies had coordinated refinery operations, and it may be appropriate for governments to impose a tax on a company when it is engaged in monopolistic or cartel behavior.

But the San Diego judge found no evidence that oil refiners deliberately create shortages to raise prices. “Antitrust wrongdoing consists of concerted action pursuant to an illegal agreement, not independent profit-maximizing actions based on market conditions,” she wrote.

And anti-trust regulations are well-enforced. “They definitely cannot talk to each other about their production time,” said UC Berkeley energy economist, Severin Borenstein. “That would be a pretty clear antitrust violation.”

The underlying problem is that California has reduced the capacity of its oil refineries as part of its push to phase out internal combustion engines. “California policymakers have knowingly adopted policies with the expressed intent of eliminating the refinery sector,” wrote the vice president of California refinery, Valero, in a letter [pdf] to the California Energy Commission.

Independent experts agree. “We’re operating now in a ... tight market,” said Shon Hiatt, a University of Southern California associate professor of business. “So if one refinery goes off to do maintenance, the prices are going to jump, because we don’t have much slack.”

Indeed, those experts have been warning California policymakers for decades that the state lacked refinery capacity. A 2000 report by the state’s attorney general pointed to constraints on supply for California’s “unique clean-burning gasoline,” and higher taxes as the reason for the state’s higher prices.

“The way we're doing it now is you just let the fuel costs go up and then we leave poor people with no ability to get anywhere,” said Tufts energy expert, Amy Myers Jaffe. “And then [California leaders] grandstand against the oil companies — that's not a solution."

If Newsom and other politicians really wanted to lower gasoline prices, economists say, they would expand refinery production and cut taxes. “If the goal is to help Californians hit specifically by high gas prices,” noted Borenstein, “nothing will be nearly as well targeted as a gas tax holiday.”

And increasing oil production in the U.S. would lower prices, just as it did over the last decade, after the shale fracking revolution.

But neither Newsom nor anyone one else in his party, which holds a super-majority in the state legislature, is proposing to expand refinery capacity, cut taxes, or expand production.

On the contrary. They are phasing out oil and gas production. In April and October 2021, Newsom ordered new regulations to end fracking in 2024 and restrict oil drilling. In August and September of this year, Newsom’s Air Resources Board announced a ban on internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035 and a ban on natural gas furnaces and water heaters by 2030.

Newsom’s actions are mirrored at the federal level. In May, President Joe Biden’s EPA shut down a large oil refinery in the U.S. Virgin Islands that investors had wanted to upgrade to make less polluting. Biden has leased less federal land and off-shore areas than any president since World War II. And he and his cabinet officials have repeatedly said their goal is to “end fossil fuel.”

At the same time, Biden, his cabinet, and his spokespersons have turned around and blamed gas station owners, refineries, and oil producers, for high gasoline prices. In June, Biden accused oil refiners of price gouging even though they were operating at 94% of their capacity. And he said, “This idea that [the oil and gas firms] don’t have oil to drill and to bring up is simply not true.” But it was true.

Then, before the July 4 weekend, Biden blamed the owners of gas stations, a competitive retail industry, for high prices. And administration officials said they killed a large Alaska oil and gas lease due to “lack of industry interest,” which was also not true, as Alaska’s senior senator pointed out.

This has been going on for decades. In 2006, Congressional Democrats killed federal legislation to increase refinery capacity and then turned around and blamed the industry for restricting supplies. "They thrive in an environment where markets are tight," said Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), who is today a Senator.

The same year, Senate Democrats killed legislation to expand oil production. "We need lower gas prices and energy independence," said the late Senator Harry Reid. "Republican leaders have proposed the same old solution: drill, drill, drill. But drill, drill, drill is not going to deliver the results we need." In fact, it was drill, drill, drill (and frack, frack, frack) that resulted in the US becoming the world’s largest oil producer in 2018.

Republicans tried again to expand refinery capacity in 2008, only to face the now-familiar argument from Democrats that oil companies were manipulating supply to keep prices high. “It's been more than 30 years since America built its last new refinery,” said then-President George W. Bush. Responded Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL). “Don't buy this agreement that it's about refineries. They have more capacity that they're holding back, so that they can keep their product dear and limited and short, and so that the consumers will ultimately pay more.”

In other words, Newsom, Biden, Markey, Reid, Durbin, and countless other politicians have been, for decades, gaslighting the American people. They have restricted oil production and refining capacity and then turned around and claimed it is the oil industry, not them, that is restricting capacity and refusing to produce, in order to keep oil prices high.

Their claims are belied by reality. The oil and gas industry eagerly expanded production between 2010 and 2020 by fracking so much shale that many of them went bankrupt because prices were so low for so long. And the oil and gas industry has long sought to expand refinery production and been thwarted by opposition at the local, state, and federal levels.

Half the time, the gaslighting doesn’t make any sense. Markey in 2006 accused the oil companies, which were seeking to expand refining capacity, of trying to restrict supply. Reid the same year said that increasing supply would not lower prices. In both cases, politicians have effectively told the public not to believe their lying eyes.

The question is not why Democrats gaslight on gas prices but why it works. Democrats have, for decades, made clear that they want to shut down the oil and gas industry. Biden promised it repeatedly on the campaign trail. His cabinet secretaries, most recently Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, regularly emphasize their goal to phase out fossil fuels. But then, when prices rise, they are still able to convince a significant number of voters that it’s the fault of the oil companies. Why is that?

Key Inflation Metric Doubles Expectations With Core Prices Still Astronomically High

Daily Caller News Foundation logo
JOHN HUGH DEMASTRI
CONTRIBUTOR
October 12, 2022

Wholesale inflation exceeded economists’ expectations in September, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) Producer Price Index (PPI), with core prices staying high despite efforts from the Federal Reserve to rein in inflation.

The index increased 0.4% for the month, while the Dow Jones had only estimated a 0.2% gain; prices rose 8.5% year-on-year for final demand goods and services, down from 8.7% in August but higher than expectations of an 8.4% increase, according to the BLS. Final demand prices not including food and energy, or “core” prices, rose 7.2% year-on-year in September.

“Prices for final demand goods moved up 0.4 percent in September after decreasing 1.1 percent in August,” the BLS report reads. “Sixty percent of the advance is attributable to a 1.2-percent increase in the index for final demand foods.”

Annual inflation on final demand less food and energy, as measured by the PPI, has fallen each month since peaking at 9.2% in March. Inflation less food and energy, the cost of which can be discounted to create a “core” inflation metric that discounts the more volatile prices in food and energy, has held steady or been on the rise in recent months, according to two key government measures.

1665616375128.png

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures typical prices faced by urban households, saw core prices rise 6.3% year-on-year in August, up from 5.9% in June and July, according to the BLS. The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCE), which includes rural households and captures a wider variety of consumers, has seen annual inflation of core prices fluctuate near 5%, falling briefly in July to 4.7% before rebounding to 4.9% in August, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).

The Federal Reserve’s campaign of aggressive interest rate hikes is widely expected to weaken the labor market, with Bank of America’s Chief U.S. Economist Michael Gapen predicting both that unemployment will hit 5% and that the U.S. will enter a recession as inflation is brought under control.

European MP Exposes Pfizer Exec Who Confessed to Covid Vaccine Fraud: 'It Has Now Proven to Be a Big Lie'

"This has now proven to be a big lie. Even the president – for international development market of Pfizer admits there was no scientific basis to say vaccination would stop the transmission"...

Kyle Becker

Dutch Member of Parliament Rob Roos has garnered international attention for revealing a bombshell admission by a Pfizer executive that the vaccines were allegedly never tested for stopping transmission.

Roos exposed Janine Small, president of international developed markets at Pfizer, in a European parliamentary Covid hearing. Her testimony further proves that there was never any valid evidence that the mRNA shots stopped the spread, even as governments around the world used false claims to the contrary as a basis for implementing Covid vaccine passports, which violate basic human rights, such as the right to bodily autonomy, the right to privacy, and freedom of movement.

Tucker Carlson Tonight interviewed Roose, where he revealed to the primetime American viewing audience what the revelations mean for Covid policy accountability.

"Did you know the answer to that question when you asked it?" Tucker asked. "And were you shocked by what she said?"

1665616639796.png

"It really was a special moment," Roos said. "For the first time, Pfizer admitted the vaccine was not tested on stopping the transmission of the virus when it entered the market."

"This has massive implications," he continued. "Governments pushed millions of people worldwide to get vaccinated by telling them, telling you, to do it for your grandmother. Perfectly healthy young people [compelled] into taking this jab using false arguments. They used big words such as 'antisocial' to solve an immense hatred against people who refused to comply with the government’s wishes."

"Even worse, many governments including mine actually introduced so-called Covid passports," he continued. "These passports made access to parts of society conditional. Those who do not wish to get vaccinated lost their access, not being able to visit a restaurant or a gym, all in the name of public health."

"Our government loves to talk about institutional discrimination," Roos added. "But this was real institutional discrimination. In many countries, like the U.S. And Italy, vaccine mandates were introduced for certain professions. Many people lost their job, their livelihood, their business because they stood by their principles. Austria even had a locked down for the unvaccinated because of this reason. The government literally imprisoned people within their own homes. All of this was based on the idea that vaccination helped prevent the spread of the virus. Otherwise why should people [be] out of society?"

"This has now proven to be a big lie," he said. "Even the president – for international development market of Pfizer admits there was no scientific basis to say vaccination would stop the transmission of the virus. And I find this one of the biggest scandals of our time. The politicians responsible for this will be angry that people are looking back at this time, but I won’t forget what they did to millions of people, and if we are a democracy, we should have accountability, and that’s what I’m calling for."

"Yes," Tucker agreed. "By the way, Pfizer knew this, none of its executives bothered to correct these politicians, and yet no Pfizer executive has been charged with the crime they committed, which is pretty unbelievable."

This is what I have been arguing for all along: Pfizer-BioNTech to be prosecuted for fraud. This would nullify its liability protection and allow the American people to finally bring a class action lawsuit against the companies.

A Case For Nuclear As The Most Efficient Form Of Clean Energy

WEDNESDAY, OCT 12, 2022 - 01:44 PM
Authored by Amir Adnani via RealClearMarkets.com,

We are living in the future.

Drones are being tested for food delivery. Google has allegedly created sentient artificial intelligence. And combustion cars are being phased out for electric vehicles.

Meanwhile, we’re not fully embracing the most efficient form of clean energy – nuclear.

In Sweden – an old oil-powered gas plant is being fired up more regularly after the Scandinavian nation decommissioned several nuclear reactors.

California recently announced that it will ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars in a little over a decade. Shortly thereafter, California asked residents to avoid charging electric vehicles due to electricity shortages.

The Golden State is now reneging on its planned closure of the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant. Turns out shutting down a source of 8 percent of California’s power wasn’t a bright idea.

Nuclear energy is the only way to transition off of fossil fuels while retaining our high quality of life.

Elon Musk understands this. He recently tweeted, “Countries should be increasing nuclear power generation. It is insane from a national security standpoint & bad for the environment to shut them down.”

He’s right. Shutting down nuclear power is bad for the environment.

Research institutions have found that the most efficient net-zero power grid requires nuclear energy. Uranium currently provides over 50 percent of America's carbon-free power. Nuclear energy works 24/7 unlike many renewable sources of energy.

And, Musk is right that it is “insane” from a national security perspective for countries not to be investing more in nuclear energy.

Our nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines are currently running on uranium stockpiles from the 1950s and 1960s. These stockpiles are rapidly depleting and need to be replenished.

Energy independence will prevent us from having the crisis Europe finds themselves in.

Twenty percent of American homes run on nuclear power and almost 60% of the uranium used to fuel our clean energy nuclear power plants comes from Former Soviet Union countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

A secure nation is not reliant on others for power, and if these “Green New Deal” policies continue to shape American legislation, our national security will undoubtedly be at risk. Germany has learned that lesson brutally after crafting their poorly designed “green” energy system, which left them totally reliant on Russia for fuel. Germany now has to make some tough choices on their energy needs, which could result in blackouts in the near future.

The United States fortunately can avoid this fate.

We are domestically rich with regards to uranium, oil and gas, and coal resources and should not rely on energy and critical minerals from hostile adversaries.

We can decouple from Russia and procure uranium here. We have ample uranium resources – estimated at over a billion pounds. They just need to be tapped into by companies like mine – Uranium Energy Corporation. We’re committed to a green, ethical mining that will power our future.

The Biden administration is urging lawmakers to back $1.5 Billion for the Department of Energy to reduce our reliance on Russian nuclear fuel. Congress needs to act swiftly. As a country, we need to step on the gas, and we need to do it now. Russian oil oligarchs should not hold the keys to a green American future. If Americans are expected to travel in electric cars, then they should have an energy supply that they can rely on.

Everything's Fixed... Except What's Broken

WEDNESDAY, OCT 12, 2022 - 01:20 PM
Authored by Charles Hugh Smith via OfTwoMinds blog,

Everything's fixed except what's no longer profitable to plunder. Underfunded, ignored, mismanaged by incompetents, it breaks.

Everything's fixed--except what's broken. Hmm. Maybe we need to read that again.

Everything's fixed means it's been "fixed" like a game or match has been fixed--rigged to benefit insiders while the unwary onlookers and punters have been led to believe that it's "fair and open." That con job is the critical cover to cloak the fix/rigging.

If a market or regulatory system can't be rigged to benefit insiders, then it's broken because if it isn't profitable for insiders, it's neglected until it breaks.

It's rather ironic, isn't it? If you want a system to semi-function as advertised, it has be rigged to benefit insiders, as only then do insiders and major players devote enough attention and resources to keep it stumbling along, much as an organism is kept alive so parasites can continue feasting on it.

These zombie-systems rigged to benefit insiders only serve the public in a cursory, minimal-effort fashion. These systems excel at recruiting naive idealists who actually believe in the purported purpose of the organization: public service, education, quality products and services, etc.

These idealists soon lose their naivete as the learn that all that "serve the public" rah-rah is a PR facade to cover the expert pillage by insiders.

You, fine idealist, can be an adjunct for life here at this great university, earning $35,000 a year without tenure, job security, pension or benefits, while we insiders earn $350,000 as associate deans of diversity and other cushy insider gigs that have nothing to do with what students actually take away after they've been bled dry via student loans.

The more impressive the facade, the greater the plunder by insiders: the list of sacred cows being plunderd by insiders is long indeed: central banking, regulatory agencies, national defense, higher education, Sickcare--oops, did I say Sickcare? I meant "healthcare"...

The private-sector pillage by insider parasites is hidden behind laughably ludicrous calims of "free markets," "competitive open markets" and "regulated markets," all of which have been rigged to enrich insiders at the expense of the public, customers, powerless employees and credulous punters.

Cartels and quasi-monopolies are a favored method to extract wealth while providing shoddy products and services at exploitive prices. Gee, what a great "free market" we have in health insurance: there are two insurers, and their prices are within pennies of each other, except for some three-card-monte tricks with what's actually covered.

So sorry, but that's not a competitive open market--it's a cartel explicitly designed to pillage and plunder the bloated budget of U.S. healthcare.

What passes as "just business as usual" is actually fraud, and was recognized as fraud until recently. Consider stock buybacks, where the top insiders borrow billions and use the cash to buy back shares, reducing the float and boosting the earnings per share without actually increasing revenues, margins or profits. This charade pushes stock prices up, enabling the top insiders to cash in their stock options for immense private gains without creating any new goods, services or jobs.

When you get caught committing fraud and insider trading, just call it "capitalism," as if "capitalism" is nothing more that a synonym for greed.

Here's banking in a nutshell, both central banking and private-sector banking: hello, fellow insider. You need a couple billion dollars at near-zero interest to buy a company, load it with debt, sell off its crown jewels and then take it public in an IPO? No problem, here's the billions. Hello, Jose Q. Citizen, you want a loan? Well, if your credit rating is near-perfect and you can prove you don't actually need the money, that will cost you 7.5% interest. If your income is limited and your credit is less than stellar, somewhere around 18% is the best we can do.

If you're struggling to make sense of the tumultuous stock market swings, just do what the smart money does: invest in the Pelosi Portfolio which tracks Ms. Pelosi's remarkably profitable personal trading, or get the inside scoop on what stocks regulators are personally trading in the industries they regulate.

If a system can't be rigged to benefit insiders, it's abandoned to its fate. Sadly, a great many essential services fall into this category of benign neglect. Public education, public health, public transport, conservation, public safety, the quality of goods and services--if the funding dries up and insiders' opportunities to increase their personal gains dry up, then the rats scurry off the sinking ship.

Everything's fixed except what's no longer profitable to plunder. Underfunded, ignored, mismanaged by incompetents, it breaks. If it offers a rich bounty for insiders to exploit, there's a mad rush to keep the funding-body alive. If not--well, we tried to save the patient but we're not miracle-workers. Indeed.

That's where we are, America. Everything's fixed--except what's broken.

US Dismisses As "Posturing" Russia's Offer Of Talks At G20

WEDNESDAY, OCT 12, 2022 - 11:20 AM
Authored by Dave DeCamp via AntiWar.com,

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday said that Moscow was open to talks with Western powers as Turkey is looking to broker negotiations.

Lavrov also said that Russia would consider a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Biden if one was proposed. "We have repeatedly said that we never refuse meetings. If there is a proposal, then we will consider it," he said.

A potential venue for talks between Biden and Putin could be the sidelines of the upcoming summit of G20 leaders that will be held in mid-November in Indonesia. But according to Lavrov, Russia has not received any serious proposals from the US to negotiate.

The US was quick to dismiss Lavrov’s comments, accusing him of "posturing" and calling for Russia to stop launching strikes across Ukraine.

"We see this as posturing. We do not see this as a constructive, legitimate offer to engage in the dialogue and diplomacy that is absolutely necessary to see an end to this brutal war of aggression," State Department spokesman Ned Price said.

Despite the US dismissal of potential talks, Turkey appears eager to broker negotiations between the two sides. The Kremlin said that Putin will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday, and it’s "possible" that the two leaders will discuss a Turkish proposal to host talks between the West and Russia.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar spoke with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Shoigu, on Tuesday and noted a "common understanding" when it came to the need to reach a ceasefire, the Turkish Defense Ministry said.

1665620673346.png

"The importance of declaring a ceasefire urgently in order to prevent further loss of lives and to re-establish peace and stability in the region was emphasized, and it was gladly observed that there was a common understanding regarding the ceasefire," the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a readout of the call.

While there are growing calls for peace talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his position that he won’t hold talks with Russia as long as Putin is president during a virtual meeting with the G7. Zelensky recently signed a decree ruling out any dialogue with Putin’s government.

Putin Says Russia Ready To Send Natural Gas To Europe Via Nord Stream 2

WEDNESDAY, OCT 12, 2022 - 10:20 AM
By Tsvetana Paraskova of OilPrice.com

Russia is ready to supply gas to Europe on the one undamaged line on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline if the EU wants to start the route, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an energy forum in Russia on Wednesday.

Russia is ready to deliver additional volumes of natural gas to Europe this winter, but the ball is in the EU’s court to decide, Putin said, as carried by the Russian news agency Interfax.

Putin also said that repairing the Nord Stream 1 and 2 lines that were found to have been sabotaged would only make sense if they will be used later, Interfax quoted the Russian president as saying.

Nord Stream 2 was never put into operation after Germany axed the certification process following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russia, for its part, shut down Nord Stream 1 indefinitely in early September, claiming an inability to repair gas turbines because of the Western sanctions.

Before the Nord Stream 1 and 2 leaks were detected at the end of September, Putin said that Russia had nothing to do with Europe’s energy crisis and that if Europe wanted more gas, it just had to “push the button” on Nord Stream 2 and “everything will get going,” that is, lift the sanctions on Nord Stream 2.

A few days later, Stephan Weil, Minister-President of the northwestern German state of Lower Saxony, said that Germany could never rely on Russia for energy supply again, and the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project would never go ahead.

Another few days later, the suspected sabotage on Nord Stream 1 and 2 lines in Swedish and Danish territorial waters in the Baltic Sea put Europe on heightened alert over the security of its energy infrastructure.

Norway posted soldiers from its Home Guard to protect energy infrastructure as Western Europe’s largest oil and gas producer, and its Scandinavian neighbors are increasing security following the suspected sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines.
