Two children killed at Duxbury home, infant airlifted to Boston hospital

Tuesday, January 24th 2023

(WJAR) — An investigation is underway after two children were killed in an incident at a Duxbury home.

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said a 911 call came in shortly before 6:15 on Tuesday night from a male resident of a home on Summer Street, who said a woman had attempted suicide.

Police responded to the home where they discovered three children "unconscious with obvious signs of trauma," said Cruz.

A 5-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to a WBTS report. An 8-month-old was also airlifted to a Boston hospital for treatment.

Cruz said this was not a random incident and there is no threat to the public at this time.

No further information was immediately available.

A lot of people on Twitter are saying it was post-partum depression. Well, she'll be spending many years in prison.

DUXBURY, Mass. (WTNH) — An 8-month-old boy who, investigators say, was seriously injured by his mother, has died, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Lindsay Clancy, 32, is accused of killing her 5-year-old daughter, Cora Clancy, and 3-year-old son, Dawson Clancy, in their Duxbury, Mass., home Tuesday night. Her 8-month-old son, Callan, was injured and flown to a Boston area hospital, where he died Friday morning, WCVB reports.

News 8 confirmed Clancy graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac University in 2012.

“(Friday), at approximately 12:30 p.m., the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner contacted Massachusetts State Police assigned to our office to report that at 11:18 a.m. (Friday), the third Clancy child was pronounced deceased at Children’s Hospital in Boston,” District Attorney spokeswoman Beth Stone said in a statement obtained by WCVB.

Authorities arrived at a house in Duxbury on Tuesday night after receiving reports that a woman jumped out of a window. They found her and the children unconscious with obvious signs of trauma. Clancy remains hospitalized and will be arraigned on homicide charges after she is released, Cruz said. It appears the children were strangled, he added.

Late Wednesday, Cruz said on Twitter that an arrest warrant had been issued for Clancy for two counts of homicide and three each for strangulation and assault and battery with a deadly weapon for the deaths of her two children.

It’s unclear what additional charges will be filed in connection with Callan’s death. Clancy is under police custody.

“This is an unimaginable, senseless tragedy, and it is an ongoing investigation,” Cruz said at a news conference Tuesday near the scene in Duxbury, a coastal town about 30 miles south of Boston.

Police and firefighters responded to the home just after getting a 911 call from a male resident who reported the woman jumped out the window, Cruz said. He said Cora and Dawson were pronounced dead at a hospital, while Callan was flown to a Boston hospital for treatment.

Clancy is a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, according to The Boston Globe.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of this unthinkable tragedy,” the hospital said in a statement provided by Michael Morrison, the senior director of external communications. “We extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected by these devastating events.”

In Duxbury, the Rev. Bill Ferguson from the Pilgrim Church told Boston 25 television station that eight churches had opened their doors to support those in the community who need it. He said the tragedy was “hitting hard,” especially for those who are parents of young children.

Might sound harsh, but the birthing person (that ghoul isn't a mother) deserves the death penalty after sitting in prison long enough to repent or succumb to her demons.

This would serve as a deterrent for future monsters who think murder will ease the anxiety.

Mental illness is almost always a spiritual issue. That's why we see a direct inverse relationship between "mental illness" and churchgoing.

Satan wins again.

At least those sweet children are now in the bosom of their Maker.

On a true crime forum they hinted that husband strangled the children and the mom had defensive wounds/bruises and jumped out the window to escape the husband. Others suggested post birth depression.

Baby of Massachusetts mom Lindsay Clancy, who killed her two other kids, dies

The 8-month-old son of Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy was pronounced dead Friday, just two days after the mom of three was charged with murdering her two older children and attempting to kill the youngest, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office confirmed.

Clancy, 32, was hospitalized in police custody Wednesday night after her husband, Patrick, returned to their Duxbury home to find their three children “unconscious, with obvious signs of trauma.”

Cora, 5, and Dawson, 3, were pronounced dead at the hospital. Although the medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of death, the children appeared to have been strangled.

Calen, who turned 8 months old on Thursday, was flown in critical condition to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he later died.

Clancy also reportedly attempted to take her own life by jumping out a window before medics arrived at the Summer Street home. She is now recovering in a Boston hospital.

“In the 25 minutes it took him to pick up takeout, the unthinkable happened,” radio host John DePetro reported of Patrick’s tragic discovery on Friday, citing one of the couple’s friends.

DePetro also noted that Clancy, who was on leave from her job as a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, was seeking intensive therapy for postpartum depression and anxiety.

“Curious to hear a statement from the individuals treating her and what was missed. Sounds like she was in a desperate situation,” he said.

Clancy was reportedly somewhat open about her mental struggles, having shared on Facebook in July that she finally felt “dialed in” again, six weeks after the birth of her third child.

Sources have told CBS Boston that authorities are considering the possibility that Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

At a vigil for the family at Duxbury’s Holy Family Church Thursday night, Rev. Robert J. Deehan said the community was “devastated and heartbroken” by the tragedy.

I give up.
See post #12.
Hope the police do their due diligence and make SURE that her injuries came from some other source than dad.

Forensics will go a long way in determining what actually transpired.

Hmmm......... according to post #13, dad was out at the time. If she did have any bruises, they might have been self-inflicted. But you're right -- we don't know at this time.

how incredibly tragic this is. also you have to consider the feelings of first responders who have to respond and care for these innocents. the residual emotional trauma these people carry from that has GOT TO BE horrendous. particularly those who have children of their own that age.

Dad could have killed the kids right before he left to get takeout.

Mom finds the kids and attempts to cancel herself. Dad returns and “finds” the kids dead and mom injured.

So............. she jumped out the window is is now paralyzed from the waist down. I don't feel the least bit sorry for her:

Prosecutor: Lindsay Clancy 'created the situation' to kill her 3 children

Wed, February 8, 2023 at 9:37 AM EST

PLYMOUTH − Attorneys painted two diametrically different pictures in a court hearing Tuesday of the woman accused of strangling her three children in her Duxbury home last month.

Her defense lawyer, Kevin Reddington, told the story of a family in pain and an overmedicated mother with debilitating postpartum mental illness. Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague, on the contrary, said Lindsay Clancy knew exactly what she was doing when she "created the situation" to kill her three children, and suggested she was of sound mind.

Clancy, 32, was arraigned Tuesday on two charges of murder in Plymouth District Court, where she appeared via a Zoom call from a hospital bed. She also faces three counts each of strangulation and assault and battery with a deadly weapon in the death of her three children.

Clancy wore a medical mask and remained still during the hearing, only blinking as the state accused her of strangling her children for several minutes each using exercise bands in the basement of their home. Reddington and Sprague appeared in person.

Judge John Canavan did not set a bail amount in the case, and instead said Clancy is ordered to stay in the Boston hospital where she is being treated. Reddington said his client is paralyzed from the waist down.

When the time comes for her to be released from the hospital, she is to be admitted to a 24/7 rehabilitation facility, Canavan said. After that, she will be released to home confinement with GPS monitoring, subject to further hearings. She was ordered to continue undergoing mental health treatment.

wonder what kind of DRUGS they put her on, for her "intensive therapy"???
The infant was born back on May 26, so was eight months old.

Prayers going out to the father and first responders. All involved may benefit from a little therapy after being witness to such tragedy.
