I received an emergency Tsunami alert minutes after the earthquake. We are in Anchorage, on Hillside, so not concerned but my daughter is fishing of the west coast of Vancouver Island this weekend and I am trying to see if they are under alert.

Looks like that 7.3 got followed by a 7.4!

Where did you see that? USGS is still only showing one 7.0-or-greater event.

As for anyone out in a boat fishing off Vancouver Island, that's far enough away they probably wouldn't even notice the tsunami passing under them. Unless they're close to shore in shallow water or knew the exact time the tsunami was passing their location.

Do we know what time this earthquake actually happened?
I see the OPs time of posting but I’m curious if there was a time difference of the actual earthquake.

I’ll go look around.

Looks like a couple of fishing shacks got minimally flooded for a few minutes, but not much worse than a high-tide.

Plus they'll have a lot of warning that far down the coastline, as the crest would be tracked all that way.
