If our "don't hurt my feelings" military isn't a signal to come and get us I don't know what is.

No. It's just the dance of nations jostling for position.

Both parties, U.S. and Russia are not in the market for war with each other. Proxie wars OTOH are always on the table as an option.

We can’t deal with our own borders and you think we should carry a war monger attitude to Russia. Get your own house in order.

Every major civilization on the planet has attempted to invade and conquer Afghanistan.
They all failed.
We invaded Afghanistan. We failed.

In the past 500 years, Russia has been invaded several times from the west. The Poles came across the European Plain in 1605, followed by the Swedes under Charles XII in 1707, the French under Napoleon in 1812, and the Germans—twice, in both world wars, in 1914 and 1941.
The Russians are still Russian.
The Europeans are still trying to invade.
And the US is still losing wars in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen, and does it really feel like we won the war in Iraq - twice.

Oh wait . . .LOL . . . this time it is different.

Also, Americans tend to think of Russians as being all of one ethnicity or background.

In reality Russians (even those seen as Russian by the Russian's themselves)are a mix of Slavs, Vikings, and Mongols with just enough Turkic, Inuit, Finno-Ugric, Saami, and even Chinese/Asian (non-Mongol) to make things interesting.

At different times, the Russian State has played up or played down various of these groups in their ancestry. For example under the Soviet Union the Norseman who founded the Russ State in the 10th century were not talked about much, after the Return of Russia as it is now, suddenly "our big bad Viking ancestors" were popular (and the government approved of) again.

The military is much more focused on China at the moment than Russia. Both are considered near peer threats.

Slo Joe being in office >>>>they are now in a rush to get ready for the push - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO way in hell are they missing this opportunity to move their agendas forward by a 25 - 50 - 100 years...

Since we haven't won a war in 75 years, we shouldn't go looking for trouble.
Even though it's good for business.

Reminds me of my younger days going to bars.
At this one bar, a guy I knew got into a fight every week.
Lost every one.
But still got into another one next week

Lukashenko informs of attempt to blow up Russian Navy's communication center
Lukashenko said that he had discussed this incident in his latest telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin

MINSK, July 2. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said that the terrorist sleeper cells exposed in the country - the so-called self-defense units - had tried to blow up the communication center of the Russian Navy in Vileyka, the Minsk Region.

Speaking at a gala meeting on the occasion of Independence Day on Friday, the BelTA news agency reports, Lukashenko said that certain instruments, such as thermal imaging cameras had been brought from Ukraine and deposited in a cache and at a certain point used "in an attempt to blow up the Vileyka communication center that maintains contact between Russia and its naval ships in the Atlantic."

Lukashenko said that he had discussed this incident in his latest telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We looked into this problem in the most serious way. You can guess what the result of that discussion was," the Belarusian leader said. "All participants in the attack, including those who had masterminded and staged it, were tracked down in two days and arrested."

The 43rd Communications Center of the Russian Navy in Vileyka entered service near the Belarusian capital Minsk in 1964. It operates in a very low frequency range to transmit orders of the Russian Navy’s general staff to nuclear submarines on missions in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans. Also, the center is used in signals intelligence and electronic warfare.
Earlier on Friday, Lukashenko said the republic had exposed sleeper terrorists cells, with Germany, Ukraine, the United States, Poland, and Lithuania being behind them.

I beg to differ. If you are watching the different plane spotting vids and studying the live aircraft boards, a war with Iraq is 70% more likely than with Russia.

A war with Iran will be a war with Russia.................

True--but does Russia back IRAQ, too?

(of course Iran is the one with the reactor--thanks to Israel, they still haven't gotten to where they want to be with it, but every day closer..............closer..............)

Those backstabbing, slant eyed, inscrutable, little bastards are to be trusted way less than the rooshins.
The Chinese are playing war "Sun Tzu." Using the brain and saving the ammunition.

Let me find the Sun Tzu quote.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

The Chinese have refined the art to Rembrandt level.

The Russians have force - and that's about it.

Russians now may view an attack on the US as an attack on a Chinese province. So I won't say it won't happen.

And the Chinese will claim a "plausible deniability" with their newest "satellite state."

The only successful invasions of Russia have always come from Asia, not the West.

Nothing like an amphibious assault ship that can land a company of marines to calm things down with Russia.
Poking the bear in its own territory is exactly right.
And we'll blame them as the aggressors if this kicks off.
