Haven't heard anything about him in years. But then, they needed him to disappear from the public eye in order to prevent a split in the church.I haven't heard the prior pope who "retired" has died?
Split has already occurred. It is a defacto split, just like in this country.Haven't heard anything about him in years. But then, they needed him to disappear from the public eye in order to prevent a split in the church.
And anyone they elect after Frank, while Benedict still lives, will also be an antipope.Ironically, Benedict, the REAL current Pope, might outlive him.
Hmmm is this were we now get the black pope, that Sarah guy from north Africa?
Does anyone know the age of Benedict? 80's, 90's? Older?
He was born in April, 1927. Let’s see, that makes him currently 94. Way too old.
By church doctrine, they are Pope until they pass. Age has nothing to do with it. He is the first Pope to ever step down and it created a schism. My personal belief is that he realized that he would be used as a figurehead when he could no longer keep up. And he didn't want that. But for his retirement to succeed, he had to disappear from the public eye.Thanks. I was wondering how old he was. Thinking he was too old to still be pope, even if he is still alive.
While I agree somewhat with you, I think he retired because it became obvious that the Catholic Church had been sheltering MANY pedophiles for YEARS! He was aware of this and did not want to have to deal with it, because he knew he would be out voted and over thrown>>>>and he KNEW what was right and what was WRONG and the Church as a whole, was going in the WRONG direction.>>>>all that and I am NOT a Catholic!!By church doctrine, they are Pope until they pass. satan better HURRY his fiery butt up if he plans to come to victory before this pope leaves the chair!!
All complicated by the (rumored) fact that he was "encouraged" to step down, or end up like JP1.Benedict has also had fairly serious physical and neurological issues, which make/(made) his reign as Pope VERY difficult to handle.
