Seed Looking for a type of bean seed I had many years ago

Years ago (at least 30, but probably closer to 40), a co-worker had some lavender/purple lima beans in his lunch; his Grandmother was kind enough to send me a few seeds. She called them "Blue Speckled pole lima beans". They were a speckled bean that turned purple when cooked. Long shot, I know - but if anyone has heard of these or knows where I might find some seed, I would be very grateful for the information. I have googled, but haven't found any info. Thanks for reading this post!

I found Violet's Mixed Color Butterbean at Southern Exposure Seed Exchange.

Ebay has someone selling organic purple lima beans. That's literally the name to search for.

Gurney has Dixie Speckled Butterpea.

I found a name of "Purple Burgundy" for one variety.

Maybe one of those. After reading a few descriptions, it may be that they are being listed as a type of pole bean rather than as a lima or butter bean specifically.

Here is a thread on a different forum about them and it lists a few varieties.

Sorry, I can't help you on your search. I don't really like Lima beans at all.
One of the most underrated beans, imo, is Black Eyed Peas. Except for my southern relatives,
I don't know anyone who uses them. I love them mixed with black beans and small navy beans in my chili,
and I prefer them in all of my mexican dishes. So much flavor!! Just Black Eyed Peas and cornbread is a fine meal.

Sorry for the thread drift. LOL

Another possible source is the Seed Savers in their big on line listing. Probably worth a look.

That's really unusual. The only purple beans that I've grown, have been string beans or asparagus beans, and they all turned green when cooked.

Sorry that I couldn't help; good luck with your search!
