Rio Grande? John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara.
Tombstone, hands down.
OK, I haven't seen the movie yet. But the book? Best western book ever. It is actually a 3 book series, one prior to Lonesome Dove and one after. Must watch the movie soon!
That was my favorite scene in that movie as well !!!!Not my favorite western but near the top.
Warning: Violent Scene with a few dirty words...

I agree. There were things in Dances that I found unrealistic also. How pretty and clean the Lakota were. Stands Hollywood shag hairdo irritated me to no end. But at least she had a sunburn complexion. I just overlook the mistakes because I'm such a huge fan of Westerns.Personally couldn't get through the first episode of Yellowstone. Stupid unrealistic story lines and situations (like pretending a new born calf would jump up and run away.) They could have done so much better.
Sam Elliot was in Buffalo Girls. He played Wild Bill.DH is big fan of John Wayne and we usually watch any of his westerns when they are on, True Grit and McClintock are favorites also The Shootist and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. We also watch episodes of Gunsmoke and Wagon Train a lot.
For me, I love Dances with Wolves and anything based on Louis L’Amour books, especially if they star Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott.
We LOVE YellowstoneMovie - The Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven
TV - My current addiction is Yellowstone on the Paramount Network.
Larry McMurty wrote Buffalo GirlsThe Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.
For western books. The Virginian.
Me too. I like the human spirit... RT 7:02The Tom Selleck reference reminds me of that Quigley Down Under movie. I kind of liked that one, too.

I had to dig around a bit and would have to watch the movie again to be certain, but I think "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" is the one.
#34, I think the movie was "She wore a yellow ribbon".
Sorry Marseydoats, I hadn't read page two when I posted this.
I agree and Robert Duvall is my favoriteI been getting an itch to watch Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones.
It's been a few years and I'll mostly binge watch it.
My son subscribes to Hulu and I found it on his Starz add on.
I like good westerns but this may be the best one ever.
