It's actually my own creation after trials and errors. I do have it perfected over the past 20 years.
So here it goes:
Ingredients= 1 lb. of dried spit pea, rinsed.
2 stalks of Celery chopped
1 large Carrot diced
1 small yellow Onion sliced
Sea Salt, Pepper, and Minced Garlic
Here we go....
Boil 6 cups of water in a stock pot.
Once at a boil dump your dried split peas in there.
Leave on boil uncovered for 20 minutes. It should be a rapid boil.
After 20 minutes you will need to pour 1 more cup of water in there...
Then you place the heat on medium, covered, for 20 minutes. (This is the perfect time to throw some bacon bits in the batch)!
After 40 minutes you turn the stove top to simmer, AND PUT ONE MORE CUP OF WATER, stir and cover for another 20 minutes.
If you do this recipe and hate it, I will personally eat crow.
