I don't know where Kathy is but she's not "Up On Hartford Ridge". I hate to complain because every time I do she comes back after a catastrophic event and then I feel guilty for asking. I do hope all is well with her and her family.

Kathy has her stories posted at: http://motherhensstorytime.blogspot.com/
I have read her stories and now go back thru them and take notes, downloading from links she posts and researching details and little "Oh by the ways" she slips into her stories.

Right now she has a lot on her plate and could probably use some prayers sent in her and her family's direction.

Well, I am alive and well. I am demanding that all future catastrophes in my life take a number until after I can catch up. My parents are back home and living on their own ... though we are sneaking in some financial help here and there and doing what we can to pay back all of their loving social network in their area for helping us to love on them, even if it is from afar. Looks like Mom is going to have to have back surgery again but it is a few months off and we'll deal with that when it comes. Dad has been released by his cardiac doctor though admittedly it is going to take longer for him to complete the healing process than originally thought. His sugar numbers are actually better than mine which is an indication that metformin may not be sufficient for me ... I will give in a couple of more months and if not then it looks like I'm going on insulin. That is going to require ... well it is going to require some significant changes to our future plans and we haven't thought it all out yet.

There's other things going on but it is basically just real life and nothing earth shattering. I've just got to get a handle on things that were let go over the summer while I dealt with some things that were potentially earth shattering.

As for the stories ... I am trying to get enough put together that I can post several additions this weekend. I don't want anyone to feel guilty about asking. This summer was nothing like I had planned or envisioned. I've always said the quickest way to make God laugh is to tell Him you have plans. Got a double dose of reality this summer. God isn't really laughing at me so much as he is encouraging me. Some days are harder to allow myself to be encouraged than others but I am getting there.

With luck and grace the Labor Day weekend will be my turning point. Thanks for everyone's concern and curiosity. Really and honestly. Thanks. Might be a little vanity in there but its nice when people ask how I am doing ... that I'm worth more than just what I can do for someone else.

Thank you for replying I was getting ready to shoot you a PM. Still holding you up in prayer, hate what you are going through. Selfishly, I do miss your stories but you have had and still do have a lot to deal with and to come to terms with.

The only thing I know for sure is that when evil abounds God abounds more. God is pouring Himself out on His people in ways I haven't seen in a long long time.

Thank you for posting an update, I was getting concerned that something drastic had happened. Take care of yourself and thank you for your stories.

Folks, no harm no foul. My feelings weren't hurt. I'm not the kind of person that needs the kid glove treatment. LOL.

I'm planning on uploading stories tomorrow. I've been using yesterday and today to get some writing accomplished.

Good to hear :)

Good to hear from you. I did see you posting on other posts so at least I knew you were somewhat okay :) I was worried something else had happened but I also knew you have a lot on your plate. Plus summer with children being run here and there, your parents and doing the canning and work didn't help matters.

We are getting to unpack from the fires and have gotten some rain but also got our first frost last Friday morning. ACK there went my cukes.

Take care girl.

Did I hurt your feelings? Furthest thing from my mind.

Great to hear from you Kathy! So glad that your parents are settling back in in their own home and lightening your load a bit. Hope your numbers settle out and that September is quieter for you

I did not mean to sound harsh, apologies.
Rabbit I did not mean to be harsh. I do not share personal information about members. If a member has an issue or asks me a question I think another member might be better able to help with or has more experience with or information on I might point them in that direction.

Y'all need to not worry that I'm going to get my feelings hurt and "take my ball and go home" or whatever. That's just not me. LOL I may on occasion have to back away from the keyboard and return to real life but mostly I try and reserve my drama momma moments for the characters in my stories. ROFL

Besides Rabbit, we've posted back and forth enough for me to know that it is a complete waste of time for me to assume you are nit picking at me. It is obvious you don't swing that way. You're just showing your concern and it is appreciated.

Hi Kathy
So good to read an update and find that all is (somewhat) well with you. Have been worried because you usually update us more frequently than this. I do understand that real life throws not just curves at us, but real yoyo curves, S curves, and hazardous roads at us at times. And trying to come to grips with following all the rules and still having an out-of-whack A1c does not help anything. So I, too, will look forward to when you get time to post some more story, but most importantly, take care of yourself. You admit your parents will be calling on you again in the future so you need to be in good health for when that happens or any other SHTF scenarios. Take care.

You are a very gracious lady Kathy, and I thank you. You have shared so much with so many and I put God in remembrance of that when I pray for you.

Does anyone know if Kathy is ok? She hasn't updated the story blog since Sept. 7 and she isn't posting people's comments.

I've been wondering about her also. She sure has had a lot of things to deal with this year.

I 'talked' to her earlier this month. She's doing OK, just up to her eyeballs in real life stuff.

I miss her stories too but she had such a busy summer that she may have just needed time to breath. But I am with you in hoping that she'll be back soon.

I sure hope she starts posting again soon; this place just isn't the same without her, Pac, Sara and several others!

Glad to see this!! I have been so very busy as we prepare to move our family to SC that I haven't been very faithful to any of the forums I belong to. Hope she will come back to share some of her great stories again!

If you click on Kathy's name, and look at her forum posts you will see she posts all the time, just not stories. She seems to be fine, but maybe she's just not in a creative mood or maybe she isn't into writing anymore. I truly miss her stories too, but she gave us so many years of good reading.

This Kathy Story is not completed. It is linked here because it may have been missed by some of TB2K's newer members because it is tucked away in the prep section. The premise is a family of four is forced by circumstance to stop on their way to their bug out location. All they have to work with is what they have with them in their RV, what they can scrounge and what assistance is provided by TPB. This being a Kathy story it provides a lot more to think about than just how to make rice and pasta. That is the thing about her stories. They not only take you some place you might not have intended to go, they may start you thinking what if that were me and my family..... - OGM

Bug Out Thirty Day Menu/Scenario

Coulter started a thread on what types of food would be good for an event that sees you caught between your primary location and your BOL when for some reason you can't get to your BOL or don't have one. Basically its a premise that you can have the best possible plan but Mr. Murphy still likes to come visit.

Made me think of a scenario where there was a mandatory evacuation in my primarily location but once on the road we found that our BOL was sealed away from our use because it was in a disaster zone of its own and inaccessible.

Told Coulter that I'd work on a menu but the way my head works is in hypothetical situations. It is going to read like a story but it really isn't as the characters aren't fleshed out so I'm going to post it here rather in the fiction area.
