POL Latest Fox News Poll-Trump Loses

[Let me head off some of the all too predictable reactions. Yes, polls can be wrong. Yes, polls can be misconstrued. Yes, polls can be biased in their questions. Yes, the firm paying for the poll can have an agenda. Just saying "Scheisse" hardly qualifies as a tightly reasoned reply.

But the fact remains that even in the midst of the coronavirus panic, America has a Presidental campaign ongoing.

Polls remain the only way to get some grasp of what the electorate is thinking. However, this can and will shift back and forth with time and events. At best it's just a rough guess. Personally, I am very surprised that Biden did so well. Posting this is the news and does NOT imply either a pro- or con- position for Trump. Fox News is hardly an anti-Trump network. I would be very suspicious of any poll sponsored by CNN or MSNBC. What is interesting is the support for a female Vice President ticket.

von Koehler]

Former Vice President Joe Biden bests President Donald Trump by nine points in a 2020 ballot test, in the first Fox News Poll since Biden became the de facto Democratic nominee.

In a head-to-head presidential matchup, Biden is up by 49-40 percent over Trump, a lead that is outside the poll’s margin of sampling error. Another 11 percent would vote for someone else or are undecided. Last month, Biden was ahead by 49-41 percent.

The race remains a nine-point advantage for Biden over Trump when looking only at those voters extremely interested in the election (52-43 percent) and the former vice president has an eight-point edge in battleground states (48-40 percent).

However, Biden’s advantage grows to 25 points, 57-32 percent, in close counties (where Hillary Clinton and Trump were within 10 points in 2016).

“Since our last poll, Biden has won enough delegates to make him the presumptive Democratic nominee, but the horserace has not budged. This might be a bad sign for Biden since he has received extensive and largely positive news coverage over the last month,” says Democratic pollster Chris Anderson, whose firm conducts the poll with Republican Daron Shaw.

“But there appears to be a modest rallying to the flag effect in response to the pandemic that is rewriting our political and social landscape in still unknown ways.”

In the matchup, Biden is the choice among liberals, non-whites, moderates, suburban women, and voters ages 65 and over.

Trump leads among conservatives, white evangelical Christians, those who attend religious services regularly, white men, and whites without a college degree.

Meanwhile, by a three-to-one margin, voters like Biden’s commitment to choosing a woman as his running mate. Overall, 63 percent approve of his promise to pick a female, while 20 percent disapprove (17 percent unsure). There is no gender gap, but voters under age 45 are 10 points more likely than those ages 45 and over to approve (70 vs. 60 percent). Among Democrats, approval climbs to 86 percent.

Vetting of possible Democratic vice presidential candidates will reportedly start soon. The poll asks about the three female senators who also ran for the party’s nomination -- Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, and Elizabeth Warren.

A Biden-Warren ticket bests Trump-Pence by 10 points and is the only ticket tested that puts the Democrats over the 50 percent threshold, 52-42 percent.

The Trump-Pence ticket also trails both Biden-Klobuchar and Biden-Harris tickets by 8 points (both 50-42 percent). The Democratic edge in all three matchups is outside the poll’s margin of sampling error.

“The conventional wisdom is that vice-presidential picks don’t have much of an effect on the national vote,” says Shaw. “That seems to hold true in these early ballot tests. What’s less obvious is whether there might be some influence within certain states or whether a specific candidate could deliver a strong convention or debate performance.”

Both Democrats (80 percent) and Republicans (83 percent) believe the outcome of the November election will be “very” important to the direction of the country.

Overall, 79 percent of voters feel the election will be “very” important. That’s up from 60 percent who felt that way just weeks before the 2014 midterm elections (October 2014), the only other time the question was asked on a Fox News poll.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, over half of voters, 53 percent, are “extremely” interested in the presidential election. That is about where interest stood in January and February (both 55 percent extremely interested).

Conducted March 21-24, 2020 under the joint direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company (R), this Fox News Poll includes interviews with 1,011 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide who spoke with live interviewers on both landlines and cellphones. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for all registered voters.

FOX is increasingly anti-Trump, depending on the individual show. I am posting because the sample for this poll is majority Democrat as are a lot of FOX polls. So if you take a poll from majority democrats then mix in a few wonky republicans that decided they didn't like Trump then you get a poll that will sell ad space for FOX.

Did you actually bother to read the Fox poll or is it just your opinion? The poll was conducted by both Republican and Democrat firms to counter bias.

Methodology

Interviews were conducted March 21-24, 2020 among a random national sample of 1,011 registered voters (RV). Landline (248) and cellphone (763) telephone numbers were randomly selected for inclusion in the survey using a probability proportionate to size method, which means phone numbers for each state are proportional to the number of voters in each state. Results based on the full sample have a margin of sampling error of ± 3 percentage points. The end game is in clear sight now with the following specific steps.....................

1) Use the pandemic as an excuse to finally convince the majority of Americans that the economy will not work for them anymore and Trump/conservatives are at fault and that only socialism has the answers.........

2) Oust Trump in November and replace with the Democrat manchurian candidates (pres and vp that is).

3) Institute a universal income (via government chipped EBT cards), free health care, free education and debt forgiveness for all student loans and credit card debts.......contingent on eliminating the 2nd amendment. (the 1st amendment is useless without the 2nd so it does not matter if the 1st remains)

4) Abolish all private property ownership.......establish universal transportation and living quarters.

5) Re-education camps are established for those in opposition........

6) Then with the 2nd amendment gone and no more property rights the mass scale of covert selected killings and sterilizations begin until the ignorant population is completely under the management of a puppet government controlled by the WASP/Zionist central banking elite.

End goal accomplished we now live in the social utopia known as the U.S.S.A. ..........and it took less than 100 year from the Frankfort school reaching our shores in 1945 to condition and break down the only country in the history of humanity that dared stand for the people against tyranny.....

........our founding fathers warned us of this.

We were to be vigilant and armed......and we as a society became so comfortable and ignorant of human history that we forgot those requirements.

Yeah, it's a poll and after 2016 we know about those, but this is what I keep warning about. Way, WAY too many people counting their damn chickens with this election.

SloJo could have 2 major strokes and 3 MI's between today and November and our really screwed up electorate would still vote for him.

Voting should NOT be an automatic privilege any longer. It should be earned.

Trump supporters need to be just as enthusiastic as in 2016, and even dial it up a notch or three, even if the Dems run Elmer Fudd at the top of the ticket. The Dems and the media will be just as corrupt as last time. Even if we think we can win in a landslide, we have to proceed as if we can only win with the thinnest of margins. Now is not the time for smug complacency.

That said, I don't believe that Biden has inspired enough of an outpouring of confidence to make a widening lead believable at this point. I've seen other polls that give the nod to Trump in terms of his handling of the virus thus far. Almost every poll in 2016 was about as wrong as it could be, so you'll forgive me for not paying attention to polls.

the part about 25 points up in counties where Hillary was within 10 is not a valid point, as that 10 points was where Hillary was up by actual vote counts - she was up by at least as much prior to the election in same

IIRC all the polls had Hitlery winning by 30+ percent right up through election night.
Yep, I remember many resigning themselves to a pretty ugly landslide in favor of Hillary. I think I saw Larry Sabato on TV that morning talking about President Hillary as a pretty much accomplished fact.

People were talking about states like TX and GA going strong for Hillary.

Do you actually believe Joe Biden can Beat President Trump? This poll is garbage because no one in their right mind really believes ANY Democrat presented to us right now can beat Trump.

First of all, this Fox poll asked random likely voters not me. It claims to show what they will do, not what someone thinks they should or shouldn't do.

Your disbelief that Trump could be defeated any by Democrat is mirrored by many Democrats who can't imagine anyone voting for Trump. The electorate is deeply divided.

Personally, I do not see any Democratic nominee who would be better than Trump. Biden might not be the actual Democratic candidate, as their power insiders might maneuver him out of the ticket. Winning is all-important to them.

However, Trump fell for the virus trap [set up by the Left] and is destroying the economy. It is hard to picture a President winning re-election in the midst of a Greatest Depression. Today's jobless rate report is very scary.

Yes, EXCEPT they WILL CHEAT so they can win.
If this was a fair election, Trump would win by a landslide.
I don't think he can win. The evil Libs are going to do everything and more to stop him. Watch.
Hope I'm wrong. Please dear God, make me be wrong!

If we continue as we have into the Big D about Sept, Trump and every other politician is toast. The new POTUS quite likely will be somebody not on the screen today.

I would like Trump to send out an exec order this weekend.

1. People over 60 and those under 60 with diabetes or some other disability are to stay in their quarters, to come out only for groceries and medical.
Grocery stores are to set special hours for these people.

2. People who have been diagnosed with the virus are quarantined in their quarters when possible. Municipalities should set up support services for these people. Otherwise the hospital.

3. Everybody else go back to work.

Run that for two months and see what happens. Could not be worse than the direction we are going now.

Now we are going to have a problem, a lot of people are going to be afraid to go back to work. They have been well conditioned and until there is obvious improvement in the actual number of deaths, they may be reluctant.

Thus the two months. If the sequestration is rigorously self enforced (and that is critical) we should be seeing results by the end of the first month.

Anyone here be surprised if the states that have gone to electronic or mail in voting suddenly turn blue?
