CORONA Largest US Health Care Union Will Fight Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccines

The president of the largest union of health care workers in the United States says the organization will fight against companies requiring mandatory COVID-19 vaccines for employees.

George Gresham, president of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East—which describes itself as the largest health care union in the country—said hospital systems don’t have the right to mandate vaccines for employees. The union, which is based in New York, also represents hundreds of thousands of nurses and caregivers in New Jersey, Florida, Washington, Maryland, and Massachusetts.

“Whether there is a legal challenge that we can make, or whether it’s just a pure organizational challenge that we can make, we are not going to just give in,” Gresham told local news website Gothamist this week.

Earlier in June, NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital in New York had mandated that its employees be vaccinated against the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes COVID-19, coming as other hospital systems across the United States have done the same.

The union president said that he’s vaccinated against the virus and has encouraged union members to get vaccinated as well. However, he told the website that workers “have the right to make their decision about their own health,” and met with NewYork-Presbyterian Chief Executive Steve Corwin to discuss unvaccinated union members’ concerns about the company’s policy.

It’s not just 1199SEIU that has opposed mandatory shots, as the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) released a statement opposing vaccine mandates.

“NYSNA strongly opposes the mandatory vaccination of health care providers for COVID-19 as a condition of employment or as a state or federal mandate,” the union states on its website.

According to a memo, NewYork–Presbyterian informed its workers that it would require them to get at least their first COVID-19 vaccine shot by Sept. 1.

“We care for sick people–some critically so–every day, and we are responsible for their safety while in our care,” the mandate notice states. “The stakes in this matter are high, and the evidence is clear that getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the most important and responsible action we can take as NYP team members for the safety and well-being of our patients and visitors, our communities, and ourselves.”

Gresham’s comments come after employees of Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas challenged the system’s vaccine requirement, which was rejected by a judge several weeks ago. A Houston Methodist spokesperson has since told The Epoch Times in an email that 153 employees were fired on June 22 or had quit during the previous two-week period.

“Many of my clients actually contracted COVID as a result of treating COVID-positive patients, and the thank you that Methodist Hospital gives them now is a pink slip,” said Jared Woodfill, an attorney representing the employees.

NewYork–Presbyterian didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

My initial concern with this article is whether, is this real or just for show.

I am in a union and when I called to talk to someone about mandatory vaccinations, I was told I would be called back and was not.

I'm not usually pro-union, but with the trend of increasing power over employees in corporate Amerika, perhaps they will again serve a very useful purpose.
Lech Walesa comes to mind when reading your comment. He was a pro-union guy that was instrumental in getting rid of the commies in Poland. The commies had him under surveillance a great amount of time and arrested him several times.

The commies do not want labor organized outside of their control, so your comment makes good sense.

The democrat party used to be for the worker, for the union, for coal, for anything that gave jobs to dues paying members. Once they made the hard left turn towards communism they could care less about the working stiff.

RELIC and I are fairly solidly Anti-Union. BUT, in one of her jobs, she was handling HR for a company and they needed the cooperation OF the Union to clear a trouble employee. the Union sat down with her and the Owners and they worked the issue out, and the trouble employee became a Page in History fairly quickly once ALL of the cards had been dealt.

It looks like more unions are joining the bandwagon.

If they loose Union support, you have to wonder who's left to vote Democrat? Undocumented immigrants? What if some big burly guys in black jackets with ICE clearly printed on them stationed themselves outside polling places next election passing out political flyers? You know the group: Information for Credible Elections....

Fair use.

Exactly how we are being treated as well.

Another Union joins the fight. They are filing to "stop this train.". I believe the Unions may be strong enough in HI to win.

Hawaii Governor (D) Ige used emergency powers to "suspended certain sections of chapter 89 which are there to protect Union employees". This was done via emergency proclamation. Meaning that employers can mandate the vaccine to employees and fire them with cause if they don't get it. If the fired employees apply for unemployment they are not eligible. The mayor of Honolulu (holds a lot of political power on Oahu) is reported as saying if the person doesn't have a religious exemption, "Fire them!".

The unions are not happy teachers union and state workers especially. The option is get tested. HI State Attorney general is pushing for the testing option. Testing costs 150 a week and the employee is expected to pay for it.

Union rep is aware death have occurred shortly after taking the jab.

An EMT makes a passionate plea for their careers against taking the experiment drug that has cause over 40,000 deaths. He promises to be there for the people of Hawaii and if they're not it's because of the Governor of Hawaii - Ige.

There's some irony here somewhere.... Didn't watch the entire video.

The only way I can see them stopping this is to file charges against a large number of people in this country for crimes against humanity. The CEOs of the drug companies and President, Vice President of the United States of America, the CEOs of the AMA and directors for the CDC, the U.S. surgeon general, the director of the FDA and they may even want include the U.S. Attorney General. The list can be later expanded to go after mayors and governors and other elected officials that are involved.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Call them back, and inquire tactfully!

It appears they are willing to alienate the Unions, one of their largest voting blocks. If they are willing to do that I'm wondering if there will be elections? Apparently they don't care about them? Concerning.

Told my DW to print that article and leave a few copies around the office, and leave some join 1199SEIU! flyers around too.

They sent "vaxx or else" emails out the other day to all staff.
