Food Larder Beetles!

Old Gray Mare

Found one and then two more! So there's an infestation and I have the lovely chore of rooting it out. Nuts. This is the second time I've had to deal with these wee beasties. The last time was several years ago and I tracked them down to a large bag of dried dog food. They were probably in it when I brought it home from the store.

These buggers will eat just about anything that qualifies as food. I'm betting it will be a mylar or heavy plastic bag from a store that I "assumed" was impervious to them. My bad. What do they say about the word: "assume"? Dang it!

Note: evidently they're not impressed with bay leaves either.

When we had freezer space, we kept all excess sugar, nut, and grain products frozen. Besides pest control, this extends shelf life. Be wise, learn from my mistakes, the cold will cause the glue to become brittle in paper or cardboard containers. Put them, bag and all, into a closeable plastic bag.
