TRANS Kia K5

Anyone own a Kia K5? Our Optima fell to the Maine road salt gods after 16 years and the wife want to get a 2024 Kia K5. We loved the Optima and Kia replaced that with the K5 model. Seems like it is a good car from what I have read about it but was hoping to get some personal insight.

I think they are canceling it after '24, the one with 300hp would be my choice but I'm not a fan of korean cars for the most part.

They are both better and worse than the old Kia/Hyundai... They still maintain(at least last I checked) their 100k mile powertrain warranty though which is a solid plus in their favor...

My wife had a couple of Sorentos and they were both excellent autos. I drove the first one as a hand me down after she put like a100K miles on it and we got her a second one she liked it so much. I put another 80K+ miles on it before trading and the only thing I ever had to replace besides tires, wiper blades and a battery was a cam timing sensor at 150K when I replace the timing belt for the second time (75K each_ regular maintenance. Good cars

Owned a Kia Rio5 about 10 years ago and it got the most fantastic gas mileage I've ever seen. We only upgraded because we had our first child, so that puts it about 10 years ago. We got the Sorrento with all the bells and whistles and I would say they do well with the bells and whistles.
For what you pay, you get a very dependable car. Also, I'm 6'2" and had no issues fitting into the Rio.
The only car that I would put above those ever (apologize for thread drift) would be my black '95 Buick Riviera or my 2012 Volkswagen Touareg (oh how I loved that one).

WIfe has a '21 K5 4 cyl turbo. Gets about 33-34 mpg traveling 80 in MT on the interstate. It will get up and scoot. I don't do any maintenance on it as still it is under warranty. Decent car but low roof line for my body, wack my head unless I duck down to get in. I like my 4x4 that I can sit fully upright in and can punch through most snows.
