Judicial Watch: Biden admin tried to ‘place a trusted messenger’ on Joe Rogan, Barstool to push vaxx
President Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had detailed media plans for a massive propaganda campaign to push the COVID-19 vaccines that included sending a “trusted messenger” to appear on the popular Joe Rogan and Barstool Sports. podcasts, according to 249 pages of records obtained via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit brought by the indefatigable Judicial Watch in August 2021.
Under the guise of “public education,” the plan, dated April 19 to May 31, 2021, suggested that HHS “place a trusted messenger on the Joe Rogan Show and Barstool Sports to promote vaccination,” Judicial Watch reported in a Tuesday press release. The agency added that they should “work with [an] outside expert to identify who will be most effective” to deliver that message.
Christians were also targeted for indoctrination under the plan, with HHS suggesting the administration do the following:
- Request a vaccination special on Christian Broadcast Network featur[ing] Evangelical leaders.
- Convene an editorial meeting with the publishers of Catholic newspapers and newsletters across the country (ex: America Magazine, Florida Catholic, The Catholic Spirit, The Tablet).
- Request a vaccination special With Christian Broadcasting Netflix and Evangelical leaders.
And they proposed requesting “that the TV morning and daytime talk shows feature special vaccination reunion moments with everyday Americans talking about what this means to them (ex: hugging grandma for the first time).”
When asked by the National Review if HHS was successful in placing a “trusted messenger” on Rogan’s show, an agency spokesperson replied with a non-answer that pointed a finger at former President Donald Trump.
“As has been reported previously, HHS, in both the Trump and Biden Administrations, has done regular engagements to ensure Americans know about COVID-19 and the resources that they have to protect themselves,” HHS replied.
As the National Review notes, Trump did in fact launch a $250 million “Building Vaccine Confidence” campaign with the same goal of promoting his Warp Speed vaccines in much the same manner, proving propaganda does, in fact, cross party lines.
“The ‘We Can Do This’ public education campaign under the Biden Administration has worked hard when it comes to reaching communities across the U.S. where they are, and informing them about safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines through paid and digital media, influencer engagement, and partnership outreach,” the HHS spokesperson told the outlet. “Through ‘We Can Do This’ and other efforts, HHS will continue to encourage people to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine and fight vaccine misinformation.”
It would likely have been quite a show had the Biden administration succeeded in planting someone in Joe Rogan’s presence. Rogan has repeatedly caused liberal heads to explode with suggestions that exercise, a good diet, and vitamins would go a long way to treating COVID-19 and questioning the administration’s dismissal of therapeutic treatments, such as Ivermectin. On his own home court, it’s hard to imagine Rogan not expertly challenging anything the messenger had to say.
As American Wire reported in February of this year, the White House praised Spotify for slapping disclaimers on those episodes of the Joe Rogan Experience in which the popular host allegedly spread misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine.
“This disclaimer, it’s a positive step, but we want every platform to continue doing more to call out mis- and disinformation while also uplifting accurate information,” then-White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at the time.
The proposed campaign illustrates perfectly what many have been saying for years now: Hollywood is little more than a mouthpiece for the Biden administration.
“These records show a disturbing and massive campaign by the Biden administration to propagandize and politicize the controversial COVID vaccine,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It seems as if the entire entertainment industry was an agent for the government!”
