GOV/MIL Jobs bill to get Senate vote today

I just got a robo call urging me to call my Senator and support the passing of President Barack Obama's Jobs Bill that will be voted on later today. I told my GOP Senator that I thought it was a really bad idea (paraphrasing it was hard to find appropriate adjectives to use in polite conversation) and assured the staffer there that not all Democrats are idiots. I could not get through to the state's Democrat Senator. I left a message....

Does this entail borrowing more non-existent money from the Federal Reserve central bank to promote non job creating enterprises.......

In my view, the jobs bill is just another politically motivated stimulus designed solely to buy votes of the recipients of that money.

The remainder is higher taxes, which are a terrible idea in ANY economy that looks and sounds as diseased as ours does.

Nope, this time they want to impose and additional 5% tax on anyone who make more than a million a year.

This is class warfare plain and simple. First there are not enough millionares to even start to cover the cost of Os program
Why dont we put a 5% tax on all red heads, or all black people, or everyone under 5'10" tall. Stupid.

Even better idea why don't we make the almost 50% who pay no taxes pay. Most of them take government money and pay nothing.
Yeah thats the ticket.
Dont people see that the problem is not that we need more taxes, not that we try to accuse one group or another, the problem is the damn government is spending too much. Money none of us have any more.
To paraphrase this guy, the rent for the government is just too damn high.

Senate Votes To Kill Obama's Jobs Bill

by Eyder Peralta

Update at 7:15 p.m. ET. Forty-six Republicans and two Democrats voted not to allow Obama's job bill to continue in the Senate. This despite an ardent nationwide campaign in support of the bill by President Obama.

It would have taken 60 votes for the measure to defeat a Republican filibuster. This vote was widely expected, which is why earlier today the President said he would continue to fight for his plan, passing the measure through the chambers piecemeal.

CSPAN reported that the vote is being held open for a couple of hours to wait on the vote of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), who is scheduled to arrive in Washington a little before 9 p.m. ET. Her vote, however, is not expected to make a difference.

I called mine and said I wanted them to vote no. Don't know how they voted in the end. I hope they voted no.

IIRC the bill needed 60 votes to go forward - but only got 48. But the political hacks will now attempt to carve it up into smaller pieces
to get them passed. A 'Jobs' bill it's almost certainly NOT - a huge TAX bill it almost certainly IS. A true obamanation of a bill.

Not that this POS bill was ever supposed to actually be approved - it's just a showcase for the current WH occupant's futile attempt at
a 2nd chance to completely finish off the US economy - something he's only partially destroyed up to this point.

Well folks, O can now go around screaming that the obstinate and obstructive GOP refused to even allow the bill up for debate and vote.

I can't say the GOP pulled of a coup here, PR wise.
