POL Japan's prime minister visiting White house but not being greeted by the pResident

I was only half listening on fox and I am NOT sure if the prime minister has arrived at the white house yet, but according to John Roberts on Fox, the pResident is not meeting him at the door in person. According to Roberts this is "highly unusual". I don't see anything on the Fox breaking news website yet.

What, is it past joe's nap time already?

Unless things have changed, it is ALL about "face" or the perceived "loss of face" with Asian countries. Right now there is a shooting in San Antonio that is kind of crowding this visit off the news cycle right now, but who in the HELL in the WH procotol office approved this.

The Japanese are not stupid, and know FULL WELL that Biden cannot successfully and convincingly navigate the protocols required for a state visit by foreign dignitaries.

WHY did the Japanese choose to show up at the White House, given all that is going on with the Biden administration? Were they invited? By whom? Who was supposed to/designated to meet and greet them, when they arrived?

The Japanese delegation arrival is more about a reveal, while the rest of the world watches, sez me.

Asians/Japanese "saving face" - uh-huh - not this time. Another motive.

Are you saying this may be a diplomatic surprise attack? No, I am not saying something snarky about the Japanese and Pearl Harbor, I mean it as a serious question.

Not thinking of the Japanese delegation's visit to the White House in terms of a "surprise attack/Pearl Harbor" event - the Japanese (and the rest of the world) ALL know about Biden's mental condition - no news, there.

Yet, here they are, allegedly visiting the White House.

THAT is the message that they wish to show the world. What it means is up for discussion.

It is some sort of temporal marker.

What OTHER countries have sent official delegations to the Biden White House?

Jen-Jen will circle back to give some pablum for this JoHo fubar, it's certain.

I suspect there's good days and bad days for the pResident; this must've been one of the bad ones.

PMs don't just "drop in for a chat" without there having been a lot of diplomatic and protocol-chieftains' exchanges. This was not an unplanned event by any means but the handlers in the WH must've been desperate.

We know Barack used to snub foreign leaders, most notably Israeli ones.

Maybe Joe the Feeble wanted to emulate his boss and decided to start with the Japanese. Heck, he may think he's FDR today and it's 1941.

It looks like this meeting was laid on in advance, but Biden not meeting him at the entrance is very unusual and give me a break man! no dinner with the Japanese premier. I'd LOVE to see what the Japanese press is making of all of this.
