When You Were Young

I'll be guest host this weekend while Red Baron is off rebuilding his computer.

Think about when you were young and music really started to become part of your life and social activities.

Think about the music that was part of memorable situations.

This will be different for everyone, but post music that interested and influenced you during the decade.......when you were young.

For many, that would be early teens to early 20's, but no one is checking ID's to get into this party.

The Ground Rules

- Label all videos, don't just throw out a link.

- Remember to post a plain link beneath your embedded video for mobile device users.

- Any music genre is acceptable.

- Don't knock somebody else's music, your taste may be crap also.

- Label your videos as PG or PG-13 as required.

- Add lyrics or screen shots as you see fit.

- Drink responsibly, use a glass.

- Delete the "s" from https://www.xxx when embedding videos.

- Limit each post to no more than two embedded videos.

My sister was 11 years older than me, and it was her music I grew up listening to.

I inherited a nice stack of well-used 45's from my much older brothers: Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Drifters, and many others from the late 50's-mid 60's. They were part of my musical development.
I listened to the radio as well. I remember Casey Kasem and the weekly top 40 countdown.

This was an early favorite.

THE GO-GO's Vacation STEREO Countdown appearance 27/6/1982 ---------- They sounded good, looked good, and bounced around a lot on stage :D

.......when you were young and your heart was an open book.....

I know this one. This was the one in the bayou with the big ski boat jump.
Older James Bond movies would occasionally be played Sunday Night on ABC TV.
With only 3 TV stations (ABC, NBC, CBS), a James Bond movie was a real treat! They also didn't have so many commercial back then.

For me, it was sneaking into the local bars with my fake ID to hear live music from local talents. Now, the only difference is, I don't have to sneak in with fake ID. :)

Tonight, in the Valley, heading to my favorite Irish Pub (Tim Finnegan's Irish Pub) to listen to today's local talent. Some things change while some things stay the same..

Here is tonight's local talent

My musical youth was 60's psychedelia, 60's acid rock , 70's disco and rock, country and western, gospel, blues and my late 70's early 80's rock and punk/new wave influences. I was pretty messed up musically to some, but surprisingly sophisticated in my musical tastes to others.

Here's a few from when I was 12-13 that I really liked.

1911user is on the way to another blockbuster Dance Party!!

If I don't walk away for a bit, it'll be 2:00am and I'll wake up in my chair....drooling on myself.

Remember, try to keep it at 2 videos per post. It helps peeps with a slow connection.

If you have a slow connection, go to "Settings"-(down the left side to) "General Settings"-(about the middle of that page) "Number of Posts Per Page".

Change that to 5 or 10 maybe, and you won't be waiting so long for things to load.
