PLAY "IT'S THE TB2K WEEKEND DANCE PARTY - this week, how about Songs/Bands with a Firearm

Old Gray Mare

TB Fanatic
Now for something completely different. A Russian swing dance video staged on a WWII US Aircraft Carrier.

Somehow on the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Midway it seems an appropriate way to celebrate the victory. There's a reason the video is titled "PIN UP". Enjoy.

And yes there's a gun.

Fair use.

Close your eyes and imagine
The soldier at Valley Forge
The suffering that he endured was real
Starvation, total war.

Yet in has eyes the iron will to win
And for the cause, he won't relent
Would he look upon us now
In anger and disgust?

His politics a birthright and our creed
Will we let ignorance and laziness
Bring our demise

Complacency, we're blinded by our greed
Standing barefoot, frozen bloody hands

His musket clutched, an iron grip
And for the cause, he has but one regret,
He's only got one life to give

Would he look upon us now
In anger and disgust?

His politics a birthright and our creed
Will we let ignorance and laziness
Bring our demise

Complacency, we're blinded by our greed
It's time for us, to open up our eyes,

And cherish the lives we all can have
And to the ones who've kept our freedom free
Words can't express all that you've done

Would he look upon us now
In anger and disgust?

His politics a birthright and our creed
Will we let ignorance and laziness
Bring our demise
Complacency, we're blinded by our greed

Last night I heard this politician
Talking 'bout his brand new mission
'Liked his plans, but they came undone when he got around with God and guns
I don't know how he grew up
But it sure wasn't down at the hunting club
Cause if it was he'd understand a little bit more about the working man
God and guns
Keep us strong
That's what this country
Was founded on
Well we might as well give up and run
If we let them take our God and guns

I'm here in my back of the woods
Where God is great and guns are good
You really can't know that much about 'em
If you think we're better off without 'em
Well there was a time we ain't forgot
You caressed all night with the doors unlocked
But there ain't nobody save no more
So you say your prayers and you thank the lord
For that peacemaker
In the dresser drawer
God and guns (God and guns)
Keep us strong
That's what this country, lord
Was founded on
Well we might as well give up and run,
If we let 'm take our God and guns.
Yea we might as well give up and run,
If we let 'm take our God and guns!
Yeah

Oh
God and guns
Don't let 'em take
Don't you let 'em take
Don't let 'em take
Our God and guns
Oh God and guns
Ye keep us strong
That's what this country, lord
Was founded on
Well we might as well give up and run,
If we let 'm take our God and guns!
Wohoho
God and guns
Wohohoo
Oh

If you want timely - (I am not making political commentary here but I've been having flashbacks to this song for a week now) also I posted the Battle of New Orleans three days ago on Facebook for a friends thread on "songs you love to sing along with." And yeah, this is a great topic, I'm mostly a folk music person and you've got lots of guns in those from 17th Century England's Gunpowder Plot to the Wild West, the World Wars and later one.

And I'm really surprised I'm the first one to post this one - I guess we just hear it so often the words are hard to process (also because it is nearly impossible for one voice to sing, it is almost always performed these days - the original was a drinking song for at least 4 voices).
[Nightwolf pointed out this is bombs, not guns that are mentioned but close enough - they probably used cannons and that is a form of gun.]
