Soundtrack music can make or break a movie or show. It is beyond subliminal in it's power to convey emotion and pacing.

What are your favorite film, TV and theater musical memories?

:eleph: The Ground Rules :eleph:

- Any music genre is acceptable.

- Don't knock somebody else's music, your taste may be crap also.

- Label your videos as PG or PG-13 as required.

- Add lyrics or screen shots as you see fit.

The 1980 film Dressed To Kill, scored by Pino Donaggio, has some of the most stunningly beautiful and haunting music that I've ever heard. What I think of as the main theme is repeated through several of the tracks.

Here is the entire score. Total runtime is 59:09.

Here it is broken down into a playlist. The Shower, The Museum, The Note, The Cab, and Finale are especially wonderful.

4min 24,
now this is a different type of theme song. origionally they were supposed to walk down the street, with just the drums you can hear, but during the take, a group of mexicans were off to the side taking a break and they got recorded, Sam Peckinpah heard it and wound up keeping it in the movie. more people know this than do the real opening song.

I cannot imagine the film Dan in Real Life without the soundtrack by Sondre Lerche (Lerche even puts in a cameo appearance during the closing credits):

Saturday Night Fever - what can I say? This is the Disco Era in one neat package. It launched John Travolta from the TV show "Welcome Back Kotter" to American's new working class hero in 1977. If you didn't live through this, it looks really cheesy, but but this was back when getting dressed to go dancing was cool, well before Richard Simmons and the 1980s aerobics craze.

The Banana Splits are four funny animal characters who featured in a late 1960s children's variety show made for television. The costumed hosts of the show were Fleegle (guitar, vocals), Bingo (drums, vocals), Drooper (bass, vocals) and Snorky (keyboards, effects). The Banana Splits Adventure Hour was an hour-long, packaged television program that featured both live action and animated segments.
