PLAY IT'S THE TB2K WEEKEND DANCE PARTY -- Songs That Tell Stories (BEST. MUSIC. EVER! Dennis)

Blacknarwhal

Let's Go Brandon!
So I know things are a little down here, what with Dan Bongino getting a tumor and President Trump getting the COVID. So, with the traditional First Friday dance party, in which our dance generalissimo Red Baron gives up control to anyone willing to take it on, he has once again unwisely yielded the floor to yours everfreakintruly.

Thus, with that familiar chill in the air and the full moon shining down, I've taken up an unexpected route this time around. This weekend's theme: Songs That Tell Stories. Doesn't matter what kind. Funny, sad, scary; bring them all on in here. I've even got a few myself.

As ever, of course, before we begin: the Recitation of the Sanctioned Boilerplate.

"The Court Of The Crimson King"

The rusted chains of prison moons
Are shattered by the sun
I walk a road, horizons change
The tournament's begun
The purple piper plays his tune
The choir softly sing
Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
For the court of the crimson king

The keeper of the city keys
Put shutters on the dreams
I wait outside the pilgrim's door
With insufficient schemes
The black queen chants
the funeral march
The cracked brass bells will ring
To summon back the fire witch
To the court of the crimson king

The gardener plants an evergreen
Whilst trampling on a flower
I chase the wind of a prism ship
To taste the sweet and sour
The pattern juggler lifts his hand
The orchestra begin
As slowly turns the grinding wheel
In the court of the crimson king

On soft gray mornings widows cry
The wise men share a joke
I run to grasp divining signs
To satisfy the hoax
The yellow jester does not play
But gently pulls the strings
And smiles as the puppets dance
In the court of the crimson king

Incubus -- Dig

We all have a weakness
Some of ours are easier to identify
Look me in the eye
And ask for forgiveness
We'll make a pact to never speak
That word again, yes, you are my friend
We all have something that digs at us
At least we dig each other
So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
We all have a sickness
That cleverly attaches and multiplies
No matter how we try
We all have someone that digs at us
At least we dig each other
So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
Oh, each other when everything else is gone
Oh...
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
Oh, each other, (sing this song), when everything else is gone
Oh, each other, when everything else is gone
