As many folks here know, I'm not a Christian, and I find this appalling! This gentleman has every right to wear this t-shirt like I can with a picture of Goddess Freya, and her cats or Cathulu Saves in case he's Hungry Later! I gather this security guard got overruled, but unless there is more to this story than we are being told (in the British Press, I might add), it is a very bad sign for everyone in the US and possibly Europe and Canada.

A man wearing a 'Jesus Saves' T-shirt was ordered to remove the clothing or leave the Mall of America last weekend in a video that has gone viral on social media.

A security guard at the nation's most famous shopping center in Minnesota can be heard telling the man: 'If you want to shop here you need to take off that shirt'.

Another clip shows the same guard saying: 'Jesus is associated with religion and it is offending people. People have been offended.'

The video which was recorded on January 7 has prompted outrage online with one group organizing a protest at the Mall where they intend to wear their own 'Jesus Saves' shirts.

A spokesman for Mall of America told DailyMail.com that the man was allowed to remain in the Mall following the interaction while still wearing his shirt.

This is despite the fact guards can clearly be heard threatening to kick him out.

The back of the shirt reads 'Jesus is the only way' while the popular 'coexist' - symbol - which advocates different religions living alongside each other peacefully - is crossed out.

The videos have now been shared across TikTok and Twitter while one was livestreamed to Facebook on January 7.

One week prior, he had also been issued with a 24-hour trespass for 'soliciting guests'.

During the tense exchange, three security guards surround the man.

In a clip that has gone viral on social media, the man insists he was shopping peacefully in the shirt but officers accused him of "religious soliciting"'

He can be heard saying: 'I didn't say anything though. I didn't speak. I didn't say anything. I just went to Macy's.'

The guard replies: 'Again, I'm giving you a couple options. You can take the shirt off and you can go to Macy's and you can do your shopping.

'Or you can leave the mall, OK? Those are your only options right now,.'

The officer later claims he was engaging in 'religious soliciting,' which the Mall forbids.

However the man insists throughout the video that he was not attempting to preach but was simply wearing the shirt while shopping.

Mall policies prohibit 'inappropriate attire,' including apparel that 'has obscene language, obscene gestures or racial/religious/ethnic slurs that are likely to create a disturbance.'

The Mall also forbids 'picketing, demonstrating, soliciting, protesting or petitioning.'

The man was asked on a different day to leave the mall because he was preaching. This time, however, he appears to have just walking around the mall.

A guard is heard saying: 'Yes, you're walking wearing that shirt in the form of soliciting and we've had guests come up and say they're offended by your shirt.'

The posts have attracted mass outrage online.

A Twitter user called John Mason captioned the video: 'I automatically assumed this was overseas, but it's right here in America.'

Another user Wyatt Sullivan replied: 'If I ever go to the Mall of America again, I'm wearing the biggest Jesus shirt I can find.'

Meanwhile Pastor Chase Thompson wrote: 'He should sue them into oblivion.

The clip has prompted a protest by a group on Facebook who will wear 'Jesus Saves' T-shirts to the Mall on Saturday Feb 4

'This wouldn't have happened anywhere in the U.S. until very recently, and it certainly wouldn't have happened if he'd had a pride shirt on and even 50 people complained.'

A group called Bloomington Patriots plans to hold a demonstration at the mall on Feb. 4 and is asking attendees to wear 'Jesus shirts.'

A spokesman for the Mall said: 'The guest referenced in the video was approached by Mall of America security on January 7, 2023.

'One week prior, he was issued a 24-hour trespass for soliciting guests.

'After a brief interaction, the guest was not required to change his shirt and was allowed to remain at the Mall.'

Falls under the first amendment and the courts say you have a right of freedom of expression is free speech.
This has gone to court a numbers of times and tee shirts with printing on them is protected free speech and business such as this mall that is clothed for the general public cannot violate that right.

I thought so, too, but Oreally (the poster above you) is correct. Only a few states have expanded the First Amendment to apply in certain situations in a mall, particularly those areas of a mall that one could consider a sort of "public square. " However, the mall is private property, and the owners have a right to enforce their own rules. Think "No Shoes/No Service" signs common in all sorts of stores. However, as to the Jesus T-Shirt and Mall of America, this is exactly the type of situation where a boycott and online "booing" is a better idea. I hope their mall security number is flooded with calls.

If it is private property, then the rules change, but this is still disturbing because the Security Guard got instructions from somewhere that "religion" "offends people." And yes, I can see rules against any religion actively passing out tracks or asking people for money. That has to be across the board, or you'll have people in orange robes begging for cash at the food court and Scientologists offering free meter readings next to the bathrooms.

But it was Mr. Security probably repeating a line he heard in the training session that "religion offends people" that is worrying. Both because that is quite frankly not for the Mall owners to decide, and it is such an obvious "talking point" for some agendas. Not to mention, it is likely to get a huge backlash (which this already is) which may be what some folks (like the people who tried to make the January 6th hearings into a nightly TV series) are hoping for.

Pastor Thompson is correct- sue them into oblivion. Shocking lack of knowledge, vis-a-vis the U.S. Constitution, and an affront to God. Security guards need much better training and vetting.

Being Somali Central, Muslims are completely intolerant of others. Yet another indication that a religious war WILL one day breakout here, in the US. They’ll be surprised when they discover they’re seriously outnumbered, when the Church wakes up. Shucks, even a recent Pope, and I’m not Catholic, urged Christians to war…

Can't believe that squishy mall cop is hassling a black guy. And the guy in the shirt sounds like an import besides. Yeek...bigtime bad publicity for a place that already has a horrible rep with decent folks. Granted, sounds like they have had words with the guy before about "preaching"...but this isn't the end of this story. And after all the feather-fluffing, they didn't do anything, just let the guy continue on with his shopping/moseying around.

Here's the link to the article and complete video:

Had the guy been wearing a big honking Rosary around his neck (big enough that the Crucifix hung down to his belt) the guy would have been ignored because THAT happens to be a PR/Hispanic gang sign AND a catholic prayer device (counts off the prayers).

Let's see how this stands up. Private property- yes. Open to public -yes.
What if the Mall rule was "no blacks allowed"?
That would be a violation of civil rights and I am sure there would be an emotional court case to slam the mall.

What if the mall rule was that all women needed to wear a burka?
Now that is tougher in muslim central. But either women have equal rights under the law of the land or they don't.

What if it was a Chinese Communist Party (ie.. govt of china) who owned the mall and demanded all to wear red shirts when there? Or a red hat? And they would even provide the hat at the door? Now we are getting to the heart of the matter. Must we bow to another's convictions against our will? This is the center of civil rights.

A private club can make its own rules and members of that club must adhere or face expulsion. But a public operation steps into the arena of public domain where convictions of the owner don't override convictions of the individual. Of course, the general public norms have influence then. And the way the devils have been guiding those norms in all the institutions is gaining steam and corruption. Consider the homo LGBTQXYZ acceptance in public schools. A slow creep of immorality becomes flood waters of corruption.

Indeed . . . and we all know the religion of pieces can do NO wrong. Why are these people given essentially free reign to do as they please? Because they are not afraid to STAND UP FOR THEIR BELIEFS

Stand up and violently enforce, if so inclined. The Christian ability to respond is somewhat...more restrained.

My first thought was to never darken their doors again but, Christians are supposed to spread the word so how about 50,000 Christians go in at the same time with the same Tee shirts on. That would send the brown shirt into a spin on his Segway until he turned to goat milk curd.

indeed and your point is well taken . . . the real question is WHY do the people allegedly "in charge" of restraining/controlling such activities ALLOW that particular "faith" to go unpunished and seemingly bend over to accommodate them at every opportunity?

It would seem to be because their "faith" has greater teeth. On Earth, anyway.

If God had seen fit to leave the stuff about not suffering witches to live and occasional outright genocide in the New Testament, would Christianity be the world's safest punching bag today?

But then, considering that God will be wiping out the entirety of the planet in blood and fire in the end anyway, perhaps all that is simply being saved for one last great thrust.

The actual problem with the shirt is because muzloids have taken over that mall. Mustn’t offend muzloids. We all know by now how Minneapolis loves them their muzloids.
When in Rome (or Tehran) wear as Romans do?

So much for freedom of speech (and Tolerance.)

The odd thimg is I think Triple 5 still owns MOA. T5 is owned by the Ghermazians, a family of very Orthodox Jews.
Perhaps the definitionition of Orthodox has morphed but I remember their other Keystone property, West Edmonton Mall, as being fairly free of such incidents. Of course, that was a very long time ago and the world is pretty different in 2023.

An older friend suggested that his church sponsor about 20 minority children from disadvantaged families (who want to participate), invite them for a "love feast" at the food court, and put all the kids in these t-shirts. Because it may be a private premise, but the rules against discrimination still apply because they are open to the public.
