Biden offers ‘rock solid’ support for Jerusalem, warns others against joining attack on Israel

By Luke Tress

US President Joe Biden backs Israel’s right to self defense, warns other parties in the region against joining the attack against the Jewish state, and says he is in contact with leaders around the region.
“Today the people of Israel are under attack orchestrated by a terrorist organization, Hamas. In this moment of tragedy, I want to say to them and to the world and to terrorists everywhere, the United States stands with Israel. We will not ever fail to have their back, we’ll make sure that they’ll have the help their citizens need and they can continue to defend themselves,” Biden says in a broadcast, while flanked by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“The world has seen appalling images of thousands of rockets in a space of hours raining down on Israeli cities… Hamas terrorists crossing into Israel, killing not only Israeli soldiers but Israeli civilians in the streets, in their homes, innocent people murdered, wounded, entire families taken hostage by Hamas, just days after Israel marked the holiest of days on the Jewish calendar. It’s unconscionable.”

“Israel has the right to defend itself and its people, full stop. There’s never justification for terrorist attacks and my administration’s support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering.”
“This is not a moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks to seek advantage. The world is watching.”
“It’s also a terrible tragedy on a human level, hurting innocent people, seeing the lives that have been broken by this, the families torn apart. It’s heartbreaking.”
Biden says he has spoken to the king of Jordan and members of Congress, and told his national security team to engage with their Israeli counterparts for military, diplomatic and intelligence cooperation to “make sure Israel has what it needs.”

Biden has directed his team to be in constant contact with leaders around the region, including in Saudi Arabia, the Palestinian Authority, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Oman, the UAE and Europe.
He says he will remain in close contact with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he spoke to earlier today.
“Let there be no mistake, the United States stands with the State of Israel,” Biden says.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has decided to extend an emergency situation to the entire State of Israel, his office says.
Earlier, Gallant declared the “special situation” within a range of 80 kilometers from the Gaza Strip.
The “special situation” allows the military’s Home Front Command to restrict gatherings and close off areas.

Hamas deputy anticipates Israeli hostages will be swapped for Palestinian prisoners

By Gianluca Pacchiani
Hamas commander Saleh al-Arouri (YouTube screenshot)
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Saleh al-Arouri, deputy head of the political bureau of Hamas, calls the terror group’s onslaught against Israel an “open battle” aimed at achieving the liberation of the Palestinian people and their holy places, following the perceived “desecration” of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem — known as the Al-Aqsa compound to Muslims — by Jewish worshipers over the holiday of Sukkot.

Al-Arouri alleges plans by Israel to impose an unspecified “new reality” at the flashpoint site after the holiday. Hamas has repeatedly accused Israel of seeking to alter the sensitive status quo at the holy site as a pretext for violence.
Al-Arouri adds that Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails are “about to be freed,” anticipating the liberation of security prisoners in exchange for dozens of Israeli hostages the group has reportedly taken, including both civilians and soldiers.
Al-Arouri says some of the Israeli hostages are “senior officers.” He falsely says Hamas does not kill or harm civilians, claiming that there are videos showing how the terror group treats civilians “humanely.” Hamas terrorists slaughtered civilians in southern Israel today, took others captive, and fired hundreds of rockets at civilian population centers.
“We have a plan for all stages of this conflict,” al-Arouri says, “both in case of an Israeli request for a ceasefire, and in case of a continuing escalation of the violence. We are prepared for all options.” He adds that an Israeli ground invasion would be the “best scenario” for Hamas.

Al-Arouri also expresses his “hope and trust” that Palestinians outside Gaza will join the fight “to defend Al-Aqsa,” especially terror groups in the West Bank. Al-Arouri is considered the de facto leader of Hamas in the West Bank.
“We entered this battle not just for a few hours. We entered it knowing that there will be consequences, and we have no choice but to fight it to achieve our high goals,” he says.

He adds that Hamas is in communication with international and regional parties, and implies that it has received offers for mediation. He also accuses the US of providing financial and military aid to Ukraine but neglecting Palestinians.
Al-Arouri touches on the possible participation of Hezbollah in the attack on Israel, saying Israel is right to fear violence on the Lebanese front in the north, claiming that Israel occupies part of Lebanon’s territory.

Again, as I posted upthread, their own internal documentation of discussions show that they were aware that their resumption of aid to palastine might likely provide aid to terrorists:

"In 2023, the Washington Free Beacon obtained documents indicating that State Department officials were concerned that U.S. aid could help terrorist groups. “We assess there is a high risk Hamas could potentially derive indirect, unintentional benefit from U.S. assistance to Gaza. There is less but still some risk U.S. assistance would benefit other designated groups,” the State Department wrote in the draft of a request for an exemption from laws barring the United States from sending funds into areas run by Palestinian terror groups circulated internally in March 2021."

White House slams Republican ‘disinformation’ blaming Biden administration for Hamas attack on Israel

By Jacob Magid

The White House slams a Republican “disinformation” campaign blaming the Biden administration for today’s Hamas attack on Israel.

Prominent Republican lawmakers as well as former president Donald Trump have claimed the US deal to release hostages from Iran gave Tehran access to funds that it is using to support Hamas.

“Not a single cent from these funds has been spent, and when it is spent, it can only be spent on things like food and medicine for the Iranian people,” says White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson.

“These funds have absolutely nothing to do with the horrific attacks today and this is not the time to spread disinformation,” she adds.

EMERGENCY – Towards all-out war between Israel – Hezbollah & Iran – Israeli Defense Minister and Netanyahu address: "Forget Gaza for the next 50 years – Leave civilians"

"We will raze every part of this diabolical city to the ground."

EMERGENCY – Towards all-out war between Israel – Hezbollah & Iran – Israeli Defense Minister and Netanyahu address: Forget Gaza for the next 50 years – Leave civilians

The Middle East is moving full steam ahead for a generalized war between Israel and Hezbollah and Iran following the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Hezbollah has already informed Egypt that if the Israelis act on their threats, then all-out conflict is the only way. Cairo was asked to mediate to mitigate the Israeli response.

But that seems impossible at this stage.

An unnamed Israeli minister told Israeli media outlet Ynet that there was a risk that Hamas attacks were aimed at distracting in the face of an attack from the north. Meanwhile, the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said it was "in direct contact with the leadership of the Palestinian Resistance and is conducting a continuous assessment of events and progress of operations with them."

"Forget the Gaza you knew"

In his address, Israel's Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant (black attire and background as a sign of mourning, only the flag can be seen) said:

"We will change the reality on the ground in Gaza for the next 50 years. What was before will no longer exist.

We will operate with full force."

"Today we saw the face of evil. Hamas [a terrorist organization] launched a brutal attack against the citizens of the State of Israel – it attacks men, women, children and the elderly, indiscriminately.

Hamas will understand very quickly that it has made a mistake – a serious mistake, and it will pay a price.

Fifteen years ago, as Commander-in-Chief of the Southern Command, I nearly broke my neck [destroyed] Hamas.
I was stopped by the political echelon. This phenomenon will not continue. We will change the reality on the ground in Gaza for the next 50 years.

What was before will no longer exist. We will operate at full capacity.

I ask the citizens of Israel to remain determined and support our security forces."

Netanyahu: Get out of Gaza!

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made his first public statement since Hamas fired rockets, shortly after U.S. President Joe Biden delivered a message expressing his unwavering support for Israel.

Netanyahu promised to defeat Hamas but said the war would last.

"Women, children and the elderly have been killed, and people have been captured, "he said.

We will target all Hamas locations in Gaza and its leaders.

The army is now regaining control of the last settlements the militants entered.

I appeal to the residents of the Gaza Strip – get out of there now, we will get anywhere.

We will raze every part of this diabolical city where Hamas terrorists are hiding.

Civilians, leave Gaza immediately.

The Israeli army will use all means at its disposal to destroy Hamas

I keep seeing alot of posts about Israel asleep at the wheel etc, please remember they were on a national holiday. Today was the last day of Tabernacles. I may have ended last night yesterday for them, but then it goes right into the Sabbath. Which is how Rome brought them down, they attacked on their Sabbath. The 8th day of Sukkot ( Tabernacles) is also a Sabbath.

They ( The Palestinian's) picked today to attack for a reason. Yom Kippur Anniversary, a Jubilee, and a national Feast day proclaimed by God back to back to the regular Sabbath.

I'm sorry but they know far better than we ever could hope to know- yet- that terror does not take a holiday, and given the absolute import of the tasks their risk assessment analysts are given, "if" this "really" did come to a surprise to them, they deserve condemnation.

As to the day being chosen for a reason, even the most bumbling keystone cop amongst them grokes the import and increased risks of such dates and is more, not less, attentive to the threats. That's just simple entry lvl assessment stuff.

...which is why I'm really not fully convinced any such "caught by surprise" event occurred. :: shrug ::

remember, secondary and tertiary trauma are really real things, particularly for those of us who've already seen our share of broken/beaten/murdered people up close and personal, so keep that in mind when deciding whether or not u wish to view certain of the snuff films and photos and such that they'll be putting out.

On a mental health note for those following the current attack on Israel: I'm currently seeing a great many indications that attacks on Israeli civilians have been extensively recorded by the perpetrators. Expect to see that content filter out over the next few hours and days.

Take appropriate precautions.

Breaking Israel: Entire families and car loads of Israeli civilians have been slaughtered in the most brutal surprise attack on the Sabbath when many Israelis were celebrating #Shabat

The Israeli Defence forces appear to have been completely caught off-guard and the feared #Mossad intelligence services have failed spectacularly in preventing this horrific attack.

We are likely to see a retaliation so severe that Palestine may cease to exist.

Iran watches with interest and considers whether to take advantage of a blindsided Israel and push the attack to destroy the nation of Israel once and for all.

True, but it does not change the fact that on Holidays it is skeleton crews. On Yom Kippur the whole country literally shuts down. No traffic anywhere.
It would be the same in this country if someone attacked us on Christmas Eve, Early Christmas morning. We would be scrambling. Even our troops are mostly on leave.

"The Three Noes", Khartoum Resolution, 1967
The Khartoum Resolution (Arabic: قرار الخرطوم) of 1 September 1967 was issued at the conclusion of the 1967 Arab League summit, which was convened in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, in the wake of the Six-Day War. The resolution is famous for containing (in the third paragraph) what became known as the "Three Noes" (Arabic: اللاءات الثلاث) or "The Three Noes of Khartoum" (Arabic: لاءات الخرطوم الثلاث).[1][2]

Resolution text

  1. The conference has affirmed the unity of Arab states, the unity of joint action and the need for coordination and for the elimination of all differences. The Kings, Presidents and representatives of the other Arab Heads of State at the conference have affirmed their countries' stand by an implementation of the Arab Solidarity Charter which was signed at the third Arab summit conference in Casablanca.
  2. The conference has agreed on the need to consolidate all efforts to eliminate the effects of the aggression on the basis that the occupied lands are Arab lands and that the burden of regaining these lands falls on all the Arab States.
  3. The Arab Heads of State have agreed to unite their political efforts at the international and diplomatic level to eliminate the effects of the aggression and to ensure the withdrawal of the aggressive Israeli forces from the Arab lands which have been occupied since the aggression of 5 June. This will be done within the framework of the main principles by which the Arab States abide, namely, no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with it, and insistence on the rights of the Palestinian people in their own country.
  4. The conference of Arab Ministers of Finance, Economy and Oil recommended that suspension of oil pumping be used as a weapon in the battle. However, after thoroughly studying the matter, the summit conference has come to the conclusion that the oil pumping can itself be used as a positive weapon, since oil is an Arab resource which can be used to strengthen the economy of the Arab States directly affected by the aggression, so that these States will be able to stand firm in the battle. The conference has, therefore, decided to resume the pumping of oil, since oil is a positive Arab resource that can be used in the service of Arab goals. It can contribute to the efforts to enable those Arab States which were exposed to the aggression and thereby lost economic resources to stand firm and eliminate the effects of the aggression. The oil-producing States have, in fact, participated in the efforts to enable the States affected by the aggression to stand firm in the face of any economic pressure.
  5. The participants in the conference have approved the plan proposed by Kuwait to set up an Arab Economic and Social Development Fund on the basis of the recommendation of the Baghdad conference of Arab Ministers of Finance, Economy and Oil.
  6. The participants have agreed on the need to adopt the necessary measures to strengthen military preparation to face all eventualities.
  7. The conference has decided to expedite the elimination of foreign bases in the Arab States.

Interpretations

Commentators have frequently presented the resolution as an example of Arab rejectionism. Abd al Azim Ramadan stated that the Khartoum decisions left only one option — war. [3] Efraim Halevy, Guy Ben-Porat, Steven R. David, Julius Stone, and Ian Bremmer all agree the Khartoum Resolution amounted to a rejection of Israel's right to exist.[4][5][6][7][8] The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) itself enlisted the Khartoum Resolution to advocate against acceptance of Israel's right to exist as articulated in United Nations Security Council Resolution 242.[9] Benny Morris wrote that the Arab leaders "hammered out a defiant, rejectionist platform that was to bedevil all peace moves in the region for a decade" despite an Israeli offer on June 19, 1967 "to give up Sinai and the Golan in exchange for peace."[10] Odd Bull of the UNTSO opined in much the same manner in 1976.[11]

Avi Shlaim has argued that Arab spokesmen interpreted the Khartoum declarations to mean "no formal peace treaty, but not a rejection of peace; no direct negotiations, but not a refusal to talk through third parties; and no de jure recognition of Israel, but acceptance of its existence as a state" (emphasis in original). Shlaim states that the conference marked a turning point in Arab-Israeli relations by noting that Nasser urged Hussein to seek a "comprehensive settlement" with Israel. Shlaim acknowledges that none of that was then known in Israel, whose leaders took the "Three Nos" at face value.[12] Fred Khouri argued that "the Khartoum conference cleared the way for the Arab moderates to seek a political solution and to offer, in exchange for their conquered lands, important concessions short of actually recognizing Israel and negotiating formal peace treaties with her.”[13]

In the event, indirect negotiations between Israel, Jordan and Egypt eventually opened through the auspices of the Jarring Mission (1967–1973), and secret direct talks also took place between Israel and Jordan, but neither avenue succeeded in achieving a meaningful settlement, which set the stage for a new round of conflict.[citation needed]
