ALERT Is anyone else undergoing a cyber attack?

At 11:47 this morning my site (unbeknownst to me ) came under a cyber attack. I had messages flooding in and for a time it impacted my receiving and sending messages, interrupted cell service which is not associated with the computer at all, and crashed the computer numerous times. Some were Arabic and some were surveillanceuk. And I haven't waded through all the others.

This looks to be fun (not).

Sardog, that could be a virus. Run (Free) Advanced System Care, or anything other Trojan anti-virus app you can bring in off the 'net.

Sardog,

Did you happen to notice the time of your span issue? There was something planned for today and tomorrow so we should be vigilant to watch things such as times, amounts, and particular disruptions.

< Yes, I do look like that.

Nope, what happens is that someone gets a bunch of addresses and uses one of the as the "from" field. Odds are, if you're not having other signs of malware infestation, it has zero to do with you and your computer.

E-mail is an "inherently trusting" protocol - it assumes that whoever sends the message has put a legitimate sender as the "from" part of the message, and there's no sanity or legitimacy checking involved. This means that all you have to do to make it look like someone sent it is write their address into "from" and send the message out.
