Mods: Please move if you see necessary.

Go to www.yahoo.com scroll about midway down the page. They have an article on prep and links to several sites. I'm sure most of us have seen these sites in the past, but it is interesting to see this posted on their main page.

Mods: I know this will not be on the Yahoo site long, so you can move or remove this as you see necessary.

Thanks.

I saw that too. Here is some of the text:
Are you ready if disaster hits? We sort through buzz to locate preparedness searches. More... Popular Preparedness Searches1. Survival Preparedness

Interesting that there seems to be a steady amount of mainstream preparedness related articles, reports, and now this. I do not believe in coincidences, do you?

My wife has always been prudent, but when it comes to the more hardcore aspects of prep, she thinks I am out of my Vulcan mind.

I just tell her I am ahead of the curve on a larger mainsteam movement. I point out that even the feds want people to prep, but only suggest what they think the greatest number of sheeple are apt to actually do.

We need to look at the threats and prep accordingly.... of course. A 3 day supply of granola bars and mini-mag won't cut it when it comes to a true emergency.

Disaster Preparedness
Disaster Preparedness

Four out of five meteorologists agree: No matter where you live in this country, you're pretty much screwed. Southerners suffer hurricanes. Middle America has tornadoes. The West Coast gets the shakes from earthquakes. And everywhere else puts up with floods, blizzards, locusts, etc. While Mother Nature's wrath stretches from coast to coast, searches show that people are learning to be prepared.

We examined how folks use Search to prepare for the next quake, twister, or hurricane. These days, tornados are the most-searched-for natural disaster, followed by earthquakes, and hurricanes (we don't count tactical nuclear strikes). Of course, this changes from season to season, and place to place. Interest in tornados is highest in Indiana, Missouri, and Nebraska. Not surprisingly, earthquake queries are huge in California (more than double anywhere else). Hurricane searches are biggest in Louisiana, Florida, and Texas (i.e., places all too familiar with their devastation).

A disaster preparedness kit is essential. Searches on "disaster preparedness," "emergency preparedness," and "survival preparedness" are all gaining followers. We suggest you put one together, too. After all, it's better to be safe and have extra bottled water stored away than sorry and have to drink from the toilet for a week, or worse.

83-Chief you're right in that it's very interesting to be on the main page. Maybe now those of us who have the naysayers in our families to prep can now point to the fact that it's not just us, it's on Yahoo too!!

LOL! Please tell her I shared her sentiments until I faced a hurricane aftermath with 2 dead C batteries and a couple of raggedy candles-Whew! What a brutal teacher life can be! For what it's worth, everyone thinks I'm nuts too. Do I care? No.
