Interesting Flu Virus Conversation.

So wife and I were at Bi-mart in Yakima WA to pick up a perscription. The pharmacist named Rich Melcher was helping us and just before leaving I asked him what he thought about the Asian Flu. What was interesting is that he learned in school some 35+ years ago something that may not be that widely known. If at the onset of a flu, take a Vit C and Lecithin tablet every 2 hours. Apparently, the Lecithin has a property in it that is good with fighting virus'. Lecithin isn't a super powerful drug so you have to take a lot of it.

I asked him if I could use his name in a post here. Suprisingly, he pulled out a card with the book he wrote: 'Smart Boys, Drug-Wise series, how to save a fortune on precription and over the counter drugs'. He even has a web site: www.smartbuysdrugwise.com. I haven't gone to this site my self. I thought it was unusual that such a person worked at a Bi-Mart in Yakima of all places.

Finally, he thinks that disease will be the downfall of society.

Thank you Grantbo.

My grandmother took vitamin C every day for years and years. I don't believe she ever had a cold or the flu. She was around all her children and grand and great grand children almost every day. She passed away at 92.

I do not believe the junk that C is worthless or bad for you. I tend to think a lot of this comes from the AMA and pharmaceutical companies. It's bad for business if few people have colds and flu.

Since Bird Flu creates an overwhelming bodily response and results in a Cytokine storm (immune system goes into overdrive) within HOURS of infection , the LAST thing I would want to do if infected with H5N1 would be to jack up the immune system.

but, if you have a weak imm.sys, you die.
but, if you have a strong imm.sys, you die quicker???

there has to be a bodily response to this thing that can put the individual at a better chance of surviving it.

what do you think of the acid/alkaline state of the body, as far as warding off the germ?

Therein lies the rub - the Spanish Flu killed people that were not considered as being at risk of fatal outcomes from flu. Loads of previously healthy people were offed by it, and its mortality cut across all demographic groups instead of concentrating on the weaker portions of the populace like flu usually does.

If H5N1 does the same thing, how strong your immune system is normally might not make much of a difference. The key then would be to make yourself hostile to initial infection, to keep it from getting in to begin with.

thanks, oddone,
i didn't know those facts.

regarding what you said about not getting it in the first place, what doyou think of the conversation from another post about keeping the body in a more alkaline state, versus an acidic state; the theory being that being in an acidic state makes one's system more likely to "catch" something?

I read this same thing somewhere awhile ago. It concerned me because the first thing I normally do when I get sick is start taking pills to boost my immune system. They work quite well, even for things like eye infections and so forth. I think they're called "Ultimate Immunity."

If I'm understanding this correctly, the stronger your immune system is the worse this flu could be for you? Does anyone know of any sources of information on this? Seems like we need to get if figured out; many people would intuitively start taking things like Vitamin C and Echinacea when they get sick.
