WTF?!? Indiana Man Waiting for $1,700 Stimulus Payment Received $8.2 MILLION in His Bank Account

The first federal stimulus payments are on the way to America and one northwest Indiana man got quite the shock when he went to the ATM this weekend.

Charles Calvin is a volunteer firefighter in New Chicago, Indiana, and unbeknownst to him, he received his first stimulus payment from the federal government on Friday. However, it wasn’t what he was expecting.

“I went to the ATM at the Family Express and once I withdrew $200 out of my account I looked at the available balance still left in my account,” he said.

He said his account had $8.2 million in it. He was only supposed to receive $1,700.

Not believing what he was seeing, he ran his card again but it said the same thing.

On Monday morning, Calvin called his bank and they said they didn't see that amount in his checking account anymore. However, they did note that his $1,700 stimulus payment was deposited.

Now the volunteer firefighter is left wondering if there was some sort of fluke and if taxpayers are receiving way more or less than they should.

“It kind of sucks,” he said. “You go from being a millionaire one second then back to being broke again. But hey, once you're poor you don't have anywhere else to go but up.”

Calvin still isn't sure if this was an error on behalf of the federal government, his bank or the particular ATM he used, but he said he's just glad he did end up with the amount he was entitled to.

Wow...that’s the kind of story that they make movies out of!

Imagine an energetic, dishonest, intelligent man getting that...even for a day!

He might not be able to spend all 8.2 million, but he could sure put a dent in it!

At a 4 percent annual return on equity, and assuming he owned it for exactly 24 hours, he should have an additional almost $900 in his account. Money always has "time value" and big money has big time value.

But of course the accrued interest was returned along with the original money to its rightful owner. An owner who like any prone to mistakes owner - who just happens to have ALL the insurance against error that force of law can bring - gets "made whole" of their mistake.

It must be nice to be the king.

Would that you or I make the same mistake, get made whole similarly?

Howdy, Folks!

Immediately transfer it to another account. Monday morning transfer it to an off-shore account. I'd do a few years in Club Fed for that kind of money.

Typically, I don't use ATMs.

That said - if I had been out and about and I had used an ATM and discovered this, I would have done the transfers at that moment.

If you haven't already set up your foreign accounts (preferably with some cash already in them) and have your papers ready to hop on a plane at a moment's notice, this is your wake up call...

Goodness before greatness.
On one trip to a nearby BOA, I found a teller receipt in the ATM for 3.2 million and some change. I was about to discard it when I thought of a single friend, and this high maintenance high rolling woman he had his mind infatuated with.

I left it up to him as to how he’d play his cards, or should I say, teller receipt. Had I forgot about delivering it to him, and my wife coming across it in my wallet... Well, I’d expect a Credit purchase of around $10K in perfumes the next day.

All this "free" money is a precursor to the total devaluing of our monetary system. Scary. Inflation is going to make our dollar absolutely worthless. Spend it now!! Makes hoarding look better.
