The Villages
It's's been called Disneyland for Adults. Stepford Wives Villages, a plastic playground.

Trump flags still proudly fly on many streets. I was told that over 90% vote republican.

Home to one of the highest concentrations of veterans of any community in the nation, almost 20% of the population.

At least 450 homes are sold each month, mostly new builds, and the community occupies 33,000 acres in 3 counties and is growing by leaps and bounds.

The entire area is meticulously manicured, meticulously. Yes, I get the Stepford Wives reference.

The community has over 100 miles of golf cart paths, with an estimated 60,000 golf carts, which is the main form of transportation, and it's damn fun zooming around on those carts, trying to see how fast I can take corners without tipping over... There are more than 70 swimming pools, 100 tennis courts, 200 pickleball courts, hundreds of pool tables, and places you can throw bocce balls and bean bags into a cornhole. The community even has has it's own polo fields. Every day there are a couple dozen live music events where the retired sit and drink their booze and socialize.

Tonight I sat under this big old beautiful oak tree covered in Spanish Moss, they are everywhere and so very beautiful. People seem genuinely friendly and happy here. We sat with a big old bear of a guy who we had just met, who was wearing a III% t-shirt, and telling what may have been tall tales from his glory days. As the evening progressed and the alcohol flowed the stories got more and more interesting. He asked if we were buying and had we drank the Kool aid. I said we had just come to visit family. He said, he just came for a visit too but was still here 5 years later. Did I mention that I have not seen a single black resident since I arrived?

It really is like living in a bubble. I would never have imagined I would be saying this, but I actually like it here.

Ground zero of conservative coffin-dodgers. The bane of the progressive left.

Didn't Matt Goetz & Marj T Greene do a big rally there this week?
Politics seem more contrived than usual. Maybe I'm way too cynical.
