I favor Samsung Pay. You can put credit and debit card info into it and then use your phone at the card swipe reader. Uses NFC to talk to the reader, if that's fails there are coils in the back of the phone which replicate the magnetic fields of swiping your card to the reader. Only places I've found it not to work are gas pumps where the reader is buried behind a metal wall. Always surprises people who have very old / no electronic payment card readers when it works.

I'm betting the plumber I need to come in won't mind cash at all.
I just hired a plumber (or more accurately a leak detection company) about 2 weeks ago. Not only would they not take cash, they would not take payment at the point of sale. Payment had to be made online or over the phone.

This falls right in line with the Biblical warnings about a cashless society. The PTB cannot control cash like they can digital 'currency'. This will be enacted everywhere in time. Now consider that the CCP virus will have a mandated vaccination for everyone. How hard would it be to place a microscopic tracker in everyone?

I carry cash and have recently had a similar experience with cash and was told no-go. Credit or Debit only. I made a stink about it and was forced to use a card or walk.

It's here people.
Correct.

Today my very large grocery store went cashless for self checkout. Can't pay with cash. Can't get cash back. I talked with the girl that monitors self checkout. She's a millennial. I said, "what's up with no cash back?" She said, "coin shortage." I said, :what if I just want bills and no coins?" Her response actually shocked me. She said, "Maybe you should discuss that issue with your BIG BROTHER." She grinned and walked away.

Mildly off
At grocery store tonight, they had signs up about the “coin shortage “ and due to it they would only accept credit/debt payemnts. Green Bay Wisconsin.

My point in this thread was to get a "card" which you can use for purchases while the virus insanity rules the country. Since I never advocate for getting credit, the answer seemed clear. Lots of folks have credit cards. Lots of folks can't qualify for them.
When my ex stopped paying my credit cards in May I now have none. I owe them a lot.

Unless it's a flat-rate price, my techs don't have the ability to take payment at the time of service unless you're willing to wait while they call it in to the office and for us to generate an invoice. If it IS one of the few flat-rate prices that has been pre-determined, you can pay the tech with cash or check, but if you want to pay by card, you'll either have to call us in the office or do it online. You can also bring check or cash (as long as it's not $500 worth of pennies  ) into the office to pay.

But, allowing our guys to take cash just means that we have trust in them that they won't fly with the money. They also have receipt books in their vehicles to give you a hand-written receipt on the spot.

ETA: We are a small company.
