IDF Intelligence Chief: Hizbullah Can Take Over Lebanon in a Day

Hizbullah can take over Lebanon “in a matter of hours,” outgoing IDF military intelligence chief Major General Amos Yadlin told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee Tuesday.

An increasing number of reports in the past several weeks have indicated that Hizbullah, whose terrorist army has partially merged with the Lebanese army, is planning a political coup.

"If it wanted to, Hizbullah could take over Lebanon in a matter of hours,” Yadlin told the committee, adding that “this is not very likely but there is no military force that can stand up to Hizbullah in Lebanon."

He implicated Russia in helping Syria give Hizbullah “all of the most advanced weapon systems in Syria’s possession” and explained that “everything that falls off of the production line in Russia ends up in Syria."

Russia is supplying the Syrian regime with advanced anti-aircraft systems that could reduce Israeli military capability back “to their status” in the 1970s, he warned. Egypt and Syria attacked Israel on Yom Kippur in 1973, touching off a prolonged and deadly war that initially left the country’s survival in danger.

"With the S-300, we are talking about relatively cheap missiles - but no less lethal," Yadlin stated in his final appearance before the committee.

Yadlin charged that Syrian is playing both sides of the political street – talking about peace with Israel while strengthening the axis with Hizbullah and Iran.

Concerning Iran’s nuclear program, Yadlin told the committee that Iran already has enough nuclear material to manufacture a bomb and soon “will have enough to make two bombs."

While Israel is prepared for all scenarios, the next war, if it materializes, “will be much bigger, much wider in scope, and with many more casualties” than in the Second Lebanon War and Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.

If chemical SCUDs start hitting Israeli cities, then the apocalypse has begun IMHO.

God have mercy...

Israel’s Warning

The writing is on the wall. Been trying to warn this world for some 20 years, but people are far more concerned about getting their bigger big screen TV than saving Western Civilization from annihilation. People have their priorities after all. Anyways, people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, so they don't need to do diddly squat to save the world because Jesus will return riding on a white horse over clouds with great glory and wave a magic wand to defeat the Evil One and save the world, so why the heck should they be bothered from watching American Idol or Glenn Beck and lift a finger to save themselves. That would be inconvenient, so I have to do everything. What an utterly twisted universe this is, but what can one do? It is what it is...

Israel’s Warning

While these days the focus is understandably on Al Qaeda, alarming news has also surfaced about Hezbollah, the Shiite terror group that is clustered near Israel’s border and has taken control of Lebanon.

The French daily Le Figaro reports that Hezbollah’s arsenal now numbers 40,000 missiles, and that the organization fields over 10,000 fighters. Le Figaro also gives details on three Hezbollah units tasked with maintaining and transporting the missiles, and on Syria’s close involvement in the whole enterprise.

The article says that last January one of the three, Unit 108—in a move picked up by U.S. intelligence—received a delivery of 26 Syrian M-6002 missiles somewhere between Damascus and the Syrian-Lebanese border. While Unit 108’s main barracks are near that border, it also has a base near Damascus Airport for handling weapons shipments from Iran.

Le Figaro quotes the French Defense Ministry as saying Israel might strike Unit 108’s sites in Syria.

The paper also says the Syrian army has its own Scud missile base near Damascus. And while Syria denies having supplied Hezbollah with Scuds, satellite images seem to show Hezbollah operatives being trained in their use at the base.

Ron Ben-Yishai, veteran military analyst for Israel’s largest daily Yediot Aharonot, ascribes much significance to the report and writes that “whoever provided [Le Figaro] with sensitive intelligence information” had reasons for doing so.

One of those reasons, Ben-Yishai says, is:

to slam the facts in the face of international public opinion, so that the UN, the West, Arab states and the global media won’t pretend to be surprised if and when Israel undertakes powerful, destructive strikes. Such actions would target the immense rocket and missile arsenal in Lebanon, as well as the states that contributed to establishing it, that is, Lebanon and Syria.

Ben-Yishai goes on to note that in recent months Israel has been conveying that point to the international community, including declassified maps of how Hezbollah stores weapons near schools, hospitals, and homes in southern Lebanese villages. Hezbollah thereby wants to make it hard for Israel to attack the targets, while also setting Israel up for “war crimes” accusations if it does.

Israeli PM Netanyahu to visit US next week

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will fly to the United States next weekend for talks on Middle East peace efforts and to speak of the need to combat international terrorism.

"Next Sunday, I shall leave for the annual assembly of Jewish communities in the United States," Netanyahu told reporters at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting, referring to a congress to be held in New Orleans on November 7-9.

"I shall meet there with Vice President (Joe) Biden and other senior administration officials and I shall discuss with them a range of issues, including, of course, a renewal of the peace process with the aim of reaching an agreement on peace with security for the state of Israel," he said.

But Netanyahu will not be meeting US President Barack Obama, who will be travelling in Asia at the time.

Israel and the Palestinians resumed direct peace negotiations on September 2, after a 20-month hiatus.

But within weeks the talks ran aground following the expiry of a 10-month Israeli moratorium on the building of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Netanyahu has steadfastly refused to reimpose the ban, while Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas has declined to talk while Israel builds on land he wants for a future state, prompting intense US efforts to resolve the deadlock.

The Israeli premier's trip to the United States is to take place just days after Tuesday's midterm elections, whose outcome is likely to have a bearing on the Obama administration's engagement in the Middle East peace process.

Netanyahu said that the annual general assembly of US Jewish groups takes place this year in the shadow of apparent attempts to send bombs to Jewish targets in Chicago.

Chicago synagogues were warned to be on the alert after suspicious packages were found on two US-bound cargo planes during stopovers in Britain and Dubai, the city's Jewish Federation has said.

Obama was told late Thursday of a "potential terrorist threat" from suspicious packages from Yemen on two cargo planes, one in Britain and the other in Dubai, the White House said.

"The assembly takes place this time with the background of reports of an attempted attack on the Jewish community of Chicago," Netanyahu said.

"It really doesn't matter if the target is a synagogue in Chicago, a railway station in Madrid or London, or Mumbai or Bali," he added. "We stand facing a growing wave of Islamic extremist terror."

"Among the issues I shall speak about at this assembly are the steps that need to be taken by the civilised world, the free world, in order to stop this wave which threatens us all.

Well it isn't far off meaning World War Three. As I've said since joining Timebomb it will start with Syria and Israel going to war. Soon after-wards Korea will erupt into war and things will spread out from these two places.

I expect Russia to nuke the hell out of the US at a later stage during WWIII. It will be a very different world after this war finishes. I don't think too many will like the new world that emerges.
