Farm Hydrated Lime

SO I buy a 50 lb bag of hydrated lime every year. I use it to whitewash the coop and around the garden. I also like having it around in case I need to make a Bordeaux mixture for blight and for preserving eggs if i need to . Problem is it goes bad in the air. I am trying to figure out some sort of long term storage of it. I am thinking about breaking it down into smaller Mylar bags with an O2 absorber and ironing them shut. Worth a shot?

I don't see why not. Even just vacuum sealing it in large mylar bags would probably provide enough protection for at least a couple of years.

sounds like a plan. I am sealing so many things either in mylar with o2 or jars vacuum sealing.

I usually keep my baking powder in the freezer, but bought extra and vacuum sealed a couple cans in wide mouth jars.

My worry with trying to vac seal it is sucking the powder into the rig. Going to try it next week.
