Huge explosion at St Petersburg shopping centre leaves Christmas shoppers injured

Several shoppers have been injured in an explosion in a busy shopping area in St Petersburg.
Russian newspaper Fontanka reports that at 10 people were injured in the blast, and one person is believed to be in a serious condition.
The explosion is thought to have happened in the storage area of a supermarket.
It is not yet known what caused it, although it is being treated as deliberate attempt to kill, according to reports in Russia.
An official told TASS news agency: “There was a bang. Emergency personnel are already on the scene. The evacuation has been completed, and there was no fire."
Dozens of police and ambulance crews descended on the busy location.
The explosion happened at around 6.30pm local time, and Russia's Interior Ministry told TASS that people had been injured.
It happened at one of the busiest times of the year, in the build up to New Year celebrations.
Emergency service sources have told Russian media that the force of the explosion was the equivalent to around 200g of plastic explosive TNT.
