House of Representatives to give staff free Peloton memberships, costing taxpayers
The benefit is is being offered to Capitol Police officers and House staff

The House of Representatives is planning to announce they will give staffers in Washington, D.C., and in district offices, free Peloton memberships using taxpayer dollars each month amid skyrocketing inflation.

According to a draft email obtained by FOX Business from the office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the "premier employee benefit," which will also be made available to all Capitol Police, will provide staffers with both Peloton All-Access and a Peloton App membership at no monthly cost.

Beginning May 18, the government contract with fitness giant Peloton, under efforts from the House Center for Well-Being, will be offered to the estimated 10,000 people on staff working for the House of Representatives and about 2,300 Capitol Police officers.

A source familiar with the matter told FOX Business that the contract cost is a $10,000 upfront payment to Peloton, plus an extra $10 per month charge for each staffer or officer that utilizes the benefit. If 12,000 staffers took advantage of the benefit, it would cost taxpayers $120,000 a month.

For other Americans, a Peloton All-Access Membership costs $39 per month and a Peloton App Membership costs $12.99 per month.

So the Capital Police are part of the staff of the House of Representatives?
And there are 2,300.

There are 435 member of the house. Over 5 police for each member.

Maybe they thought we wouldn't notice; arrogance goes hand-in-hand with moronic behaviours in Politics.

Or maybe Nancy signed off, thinking she was ordering another case of wine for her office cooler.

About right I guess 1 x Minder, 4 x fire team/protective detail. .....

Nice income if you control the outcome with public announcements, some of these rats are already up nearly 20% on their investment.

Peloton is a computerized exercise system that uses a variety of equipment, such as stationary bike, rower, treadmill, etc. You can buy one piece or any combination of pieces of equipment. If you get the Peloton app, you can watch an exercise trainer do the exercises and encourage you follow along. It's supposed to help with motivation and with envisioning where you were, where you want to be, and how you will get there. The equipment is not cheap, and the app membership adds up in price the longer you pay for the app. Is it worth it? Only you can decide.......if it helps you or not.

Regardless, taxpayers should NOT have to pay for the Peloton equipment and app membership for fedgov employees. They make good money. If they want it, they should pay for their own, just like we would have to if we want it.

This is all about Peloton stock. The share price took a huge hit, down to almost single digits. It is a hot stock meaning options are trading at a premium. I was going to purchase 100 shares around $12/share and sell a call option on the shares. So long as the stock stayed flat or went up, I was likely going to make a 15% or so return.

Oddly enough I just happened to ride a Peloton bike at a hotel I just stayed at. Nice machine, but I can’t see paying reoccurring membership fees for the service. I didn’t compare the price of their bike with other higher end bikes either.
