Misc Honey turned black

My mom received a couple mason jars of raw honey from a friend a few years ago. When she was cleaning and reorganizing her basement pantry, she found them. She says they are "black".

Should she toss them? Her basement is sometimes damp, and the temp will flucuate a bit, but probably isn't ever above 75F.

Not unless they are truly "black", as in black mold, which would only happen if it was contaminated. If she means really dark brown, that just makes it taste better IMHO. I opened a container of local raw honey that was at least several years old. Thick, dark brown, somewhat crystallized, tastes great! As far as I know that's just what happens when it gets old, but pure honey (closed container, no water or other substances in it) never goes bad.
