Herbal Herbs

I'd like to get to know more on how to use herbs, probably dried herbs because I have a brown thumb. The information seems hopelessly overwhelming - and it seems like an expensive hobby to boot. However, I would just like to start small. What would be a good starter supply? I have ordered herbs to make thieves vinegar - thyme, rosemary, sage, lavender, and mint. So I'll have a bit to start. What else? Any good online references would be great, as well as a economical place to order them. I used Mountain Rose herbs for the above-mentioned order.

I know quite a bit about vitamins/minerals and am just looking to expand a bit.

Thank you!

Fresh herbs are best in my experience. Just think of your herbs as pets and water and feed them
faithfully. Actually the only thing I feed my herbs is a bag of steer manure once a year.

Often you can buy bulk dried herbs at health food stores. Shop around because even their prices vary.

Thank you. I'm going to start reading up for a possible herb garden in the spring. I asked my neighbors to help me with a garden and they said they would. They mostly plant ornamental flowers, but apparently know quite a bit about gardening.

One thing that surprised me is the difference between the organic herbs I ordered from an herbal supply store and the herbs you buy at a grocery store (even organic herbs). I received an order of rosemary and thyme, among other things, and they didn't even look like the spices I bought from Frontier in bulk (for cooking).
