So Maison went to vans the other day, while he was there he asked the lady if he could work there. Her response was “get a red vest and a name tag then we can talk.” Well maison being the little boy he is…he took that quite literally.

This morning he comes to grandmas dressed in his Christmas suit (which has a red vest) and is trying to take the Christmas present gift tag with his name on it off of one of his presents under the tree saying “I need a name tag so I can go to work, I already have the vest.” We all thought this was super funny and so cute.

Grandma made a phone call to vans and told the manager the whole story…she said “You bring him on down today” and next thing you know, maison is stocking shelves and handing out candy canes at vans and made $5!

This is the coolest and cutest thing a store could do for a little one with the idea of working their implanted in his brain. I know where I’ll do all my grocery shopping from here on out! Huge thanks to Vans and the wonderful manager down there! You made one little boys day!

Elderly Man Saved By Quick-Thinking Youths

main-qimg-aa042e4a5d21ecda53b71aa8c6ca6707-lq

“This afternoon I had the fright of my life. When my subway car pulled up at Broadview station in Toronto, Canada, I heard a faint voice call out, “Help, help me please”. it wasn’t coming from anyone in the car and after hearing it again, I stood up and looked out on the platform. Suddenly, (and all very quickly) I and the man beside me saw a man with a walking cane lying on the tracks. He was blind and had fallen and injured himself. Without hesitation, the man you see in this picture wearing the animal shirt jumped onto the tracks and pulled him out. Thankfully, two other men showed up to help as well and this story has a happy ending.”

“Please pass this photo around, these men need to be recognized as Good Samaritans. If they hadn’t reacted so quickly, the outcome would have been horrific.”

This is Ted. Ted is a boxer dog. Ted is a protector. Ted is part of my family. Ted is a life saver. Ted is my best friend.
main-qimg-75fc25db9f089cc62c0b411cd02c234d-lq

I first met Ted in 2010, it was during a very bad time in my life. I had gone through a really bad relationship and divorce. Plus Ireland was in very deep recession. I was in a deep depression. I had started to drink every day and had seriously thought about ending my life.

I was looking through a local adverts page and came across a dog for sale, he was going cheap as the owner was emigrating. So I went to have a look and fell in love with bronson(as he was called att).

I took him home and our journey began.

He saved my life, he gave me love and purpose.

He opened the door on me looking outwards again. Literally opening the door since day one. I started to drink less and before I knew it I had lost 2 stone and was back to my old self.

We moved in with my partner and her dog Heidi.
main-qimg-a8045fe3196855dc3d18998084413121-pjlq

we grew stronger together and before we knew it we added another piece to our family. Ted loved my son as much as he loved me. Being a protective and playful force in his life.
main-qimg-2a25fd75becfbf7b2df60f5b62e46696-lq

For 11 years he was in perfect health and condition. Until he wasn't. The vet says he had an aggressive cancer and I could see the pain and anxiety in his eyes. So three months ago we had to make the decision to let him move onwards to the rainbow Bridge.

this is me and my son saying goodbye to him.
main-qimg-337cba53ef3754ce1e07d30ad3c7f587-lq

I know he loved me, as I lay on the floor with him at the vets I looked into his eyes and told him he was the best boy,
main-qimg-d0d2c523192b26bebba8381196600539-lq

the best friend I ever had, that I will never forget him. I thanked him for saving my life.
main-qimg-ac8a2fe989d4eb8bd5ac34af295faf1b-lq

I watched the pain leave his body and he looked like the little pup bronson I picked up 11 years prior…then he was gone…

gone from his body, but not from my heart.

I love you ted

I grew up in Central Minnesota just south of Brainerd on a lake called South Long. We were always near or on the water, canoes, rowboats, a ski boat pulling tubes and skiers. I was 2 years old and my sister was supposed to be watching me as I walked out on the dock and I just walked off the end into 10 feet of water. She ran to my mom who was doing washing and said "Kenny is getting his new shoes wet" She was a pediatric nurse and ran down to the dock and began to search for me, she spotted my shirt billowing up and jumped in to drag me to shore. She did CPR and brought me back to life on the embankment. My dad came running down because he heard her hysterically crying as I coughed and choked out the water. He threatened to slap her if she didn't get control. I recovered and besides a case of pneumonia I did OK. I became a nurse and worked for 35 years in critical care. Every year in early July I call my sister and thank her for saving my life 65 years ago this year.

On September 11th 2001, Roselle, a guide dog, saved the life of her blind owner by leading him all the way down from the 78th floor of the burning Twin Towers. The descent took approximately an hour in total & both safely made it out.

“At work I’m Responding to the Absolutely Tragic Death of Two Babies”

main-qimg-9b005b5023d3d9c0e66154489ece11ef-lq

“Yesterday I went from celebrating an 11-year-old boys birthday party with my brothers and sisters at work to responding to the absolutely tragic death of two babies. This is the other side. The raw side that nobody talks about. The side everyone who isn’t in law enforcement doesn’t realize happens to us... but believe it or not, we grieve too. We are humans. You just don’t know because once we leave that terrible, heart wrenching call, we come to you and there are no tears or anger from the last call we were at. We’re just there to take care of you. I simply ‘file it away’ as I tell people that ask, ‘How do you deal with the things you’ve seen?’ This picture was taken a few hours into my shift today and you guessed it, I had to wipe those tears up and go to the next call. I wholeheartedly understand I’m not the only person affected by this, and there are so many people, family included, who this affects more than me - I understand that and I am not trying to take anything away from anyone at all. It’s simply on my heart to share this tonight. I know with what’s going on in our world right now it won’t accomplish much, but I just pray you have mercy on all of us. We are all fighting a battle that you can’t see just by looking at us. We take this uniform off every night and we crawl into bed and have to learn how to process the grief, just like any other human being. To my brothers and sisters who are battling it too, thank you for not giving up and I am always here to listen.”

"On December 26th, at 9:30 a.m., our world was rocked. You never think it could happen to you until the heartbreaking reality is staring right at you. Emotions are hard to grasp and comprehend at this time - anger, sadness, confusion, fear, relief, thankful... While traveling back home from NY to NC, Wade and I stopped at our halfway point in Winchester, VA. This rest stop was busy with families traveling South. We noticed an argument from afar between a man and woman in the parking lot. Wade and I stood in the grass with Maisel, stretching our legs as we kept an eye on the situation. Next thing we know, us and several others are sprinting across the parking lot to help this distressed woman who was taken to the ground and getting beaten by the angry man. Wade and the gentlemen were trying to calm the man down and what seemed like a controlled situation turned into our horror. The memory of seeing my husband running for his life as the man turned to shoot, the chaos of taking cover, and fighting to find and seeing Wade will forever be with me and him. Wade sustained a comminuted fracture to his right cheek and sinus cavity and paralysis of a facial nerve due to a gunshot wound. Bullet went behind his ear and through his cheek. We are thankful for the hearts of the bystanders who helped and prayed over us in that moment, first responders, and the medical staff at Winchester Medical Center. Wade had many angels watching after him. In true Wade fashion, he is making his jokes, spreading his positivity and love to everyone, and was cheering on the Buffalo Bills soon after. Two other men and the woman in the dispute were shot, but are all well. The shooter was chased down and shot himself in his car once caught. I'd like to thank all the strangers for their love, prayer, and support they have shown us over the past few days! Hug your loved ones a little tighter and believe in the good of others a little more. We are headed back to Charlotte this morning to begin our healing physically and emotionally. 'I love you' has never meant more and we're so blessed we get to keep saying it and proving it to one another."

Her favorite beach. In her last hour, he caressed her fur and gently talked to her, told about her adventures together and how much he loved her, he did not leave her alone until her last breath on this world. This is how loyalty goes to a beloved animal until the end.

On October 14, 1912, Theodore Roosevelt was planning on giving a speech.

He started by saying, “Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible.”

He was then shot.

“I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot,” Roosevelt continues.

Much to the crowd’s shock, Roosevelt unbuttons his bloodstained shirt.
main-qimg-af4d85c402b471d97c337b3b83b959a4-lq

“It takes more than that to kill a bull moose,” Roosevelt assures the crowd.

Roosevelt takes his speech papers out of his coat pocket. There was a bullet hole straight through all fifty pages. The papers had saved his life.

Luckily for his speech, Roosevelt had a self-claimed photographic memory. He went on to give a ninety minute speech even though his aides insisted that he go to a hospital. Only with the speech completed did he agree to visit the hospital.

He was fifty-three at the time.

What a bad-ass.

There's this stray cat that keeps coming onto my porch. Usually I don't mind cats but this one is riddled with fleas. What can I do to keep it away?
I suppose there are many things you could do to get rid of it, but there are other options. I’m not going to tell you what is right for you, but I am going to tell you my story, if you care to read. Take from it what you will.

I used to hate+fear cats (childhood trauma from cat attack) and I’m also very, very allergic.

About five years ago I was entering my car at night, in the rain, with my wife when I saw a messy, furry lump of hair reminiscent of the movie “the ring” streak around the corner of the car. I went out to look and there was this gnarly black feline looking back at me. I was like… eugh… and went back into the car. But the darned thing followed me crawled up my lap, up along my arm up towards my shoulders all while I’m all but screaming “WHAT THE **** IS IT DOING??!?” to my wife, who I knew had a lot of experience with cats. The cat, that was obviously in a bad state, proceeded to lie down around my neck like a nasty, wet scarf and passed out with a huge sigh. Weirdest thing ever.

Despite my aversions against cats, especially one that had just punctured my leg, arm and neck in about a hundred spots with its nasty, infected claws - we decided to walk down to the vet, cat around my neck, to get advice on what to do with it (and also to have it safely removed from the vicinity of my carotid artery :D)

The lady who worked there was involved in a local animal support group and offered to do her best to find the owners and said the cat could live there for now, in a small cage, in a dark corner until the owner could be found or if not - be sent off to the shelter.

I suppose that was where love won out over hate, fear and allergies, so I asked if it wouldn’t be better for the cat if we took it home to try and care for it for the time being.

The cat was dirty, had ticks, fleas, skin infections, ear infections, worms and was in obvious psychological distress.

Long story short, the owners were found - but because they’d had kids and the kids were beating up the cat they decided to kick the cat out instead of teaching their kids manners. The cat was homeless and given the previous owners mentality, probably hadn’t gotten much love or attention.

So we decided to give him a fighting chance and spent a minor fortune (no insurance = expensive) getting him the help he needed, removing ticks, cleaning out fleas, daily skin care, minor ear surgery, vaccinations, anti-worm medication, intensive care diets, castration and whatever “love” I was able to muster. My allergies were terrible, but I pushed through. This was not a fun experience for any of us, but the cat never, ever tried to hurt us despite being put through weeks of painful and likely terrifying medicinal procedures as well as my constant, ear shattering sneezing.

In time (many months), my body started getting used to having “cat” in the air all of the time and my allergies started to slowly fade, in straight opposition to what doctors have always told me should happen. Not just my cat allergies, mind you. My dog and generic fur allergy, pollen allergies (hay fever) and contact allergies all improved significantly over the next two years!

Today, five years later, I could not imagine living without Sheldon. He is the perfect pet - with beautiful, soft and glistening black fur. He’s one of those cats who never do annoying “cat things” like topple things over, attack from behind a corner or walk all over the keyboard when you try to work, and when I lie down in the couch in the evenings he comes over with a slight meow, as if to ask if it’s okay to hang out, and when I move over he jumps up and snuggles up right next to me for hours on end. When I go for a walk he will follow me around wherever I go. He keeps the house and garden free of mice and rats. Warns us when something is awry. Hangs out with the pet rabbits my wife keeps in the yard or when we are outdoors he will run around the neighborhood playing and jumping up and down trees and fences. When we are away he spends most of the day comfortably resting in bed, only to come running to us like a dog when we get back. Every time we open a door for him, or give him food, he will first take the time to turn around and give us a gentle stroke against the leg, before proceeding about his business.

I can now go outdoors in the summer without being destroyed by allergies, the family has gained a wonderful friend and Sheldon gives us more than enough love to go around. These are the gifts we were given for deciding to love, when we could’ve just walked away - and certainly had our reasons to do just that.

Matthew Van De Riet lives in Nova Scotia. One day, he saw an auto wreck in a highway there. He quickly decided to help the people in the accident. He found two distressed dogs out of the wrecked car too. It was not hard at all for him to know that they were the pets of the wrecked vehicle owner. He quickly secured them into safety and proceeded to help the people in the badly damaged vehicle which was flipped on its roof. He soon found a man and his girlfriend inside the vehicle who survived the crash.

He managed to call the emergency services and help airlift the female passenger who was injured a little bit more seriously. He then transferred the couple’s belongings and all their dog gear into his truck and drove the man to the Halifax hospital where his girlfriend was being treated. Since the couple were new to the area, he volunteered to keep their dogs until the they are able to pick them up. He found out that the dogs were actually thrown from their owner’s vehicle by the impact of the crash. Although they looked okay, he took them to a local animal hospital for evaluation. They were found to be doing good. He then took the dogs to his home and let them get acquainted with his two miniature Doberman housemates. The dogs really had a very good time after the long day filled with unforeseen events, a good time filled with trust, safety, and security due to a random act of kindness of Matthew.

At the same time, the couple were doing good in their treatment without needing to worry too much about their pets.

"So I thought it was a good idea to fly by myself with a 2 yr old and a 5 year old we were standing in line in security, on the verge of tears because Wyatt was screaming and James was exhausted. Out of the blue, one mom stops the line for security and says “here, jump in front of me! I know how it is!” Wyatt fell asleep and I was trying to carry everyone’s carry-on when another mom jumps out of her place in line and says “hand me everything, I’ve got it”. When I said thank you to both of them they said “don’t you worry, we’re going to make sure you get on that flight.” The second woman takes evvvverything and helps me get it through security and, on top of all that, she grabs all of it and walks us to the gate to make sure we get on the flight. To top it all off, Wyatt starts to scream at take off before he finally falls back to sleep. After about 45 min, this angel comes to the back and says “you look like you need a break” and holds Wyatt for the rest of the flight AND walks him all the way to baggage claim, hands him to blake, hugs me and says “merry Christmas!!”"

Mother of four Lynn Murphy was panhandling in Massachusetts, asking for money from drivers, when a state police officer pulled up to her. Initially, he just drove past her. But he came back with food for her that he had picked up at a nearby restaurant. The woman thought he was stopping to give her a ticket for panhandling, but he gave her the food instead. However, he didn’t just leave it with her. He asked her to come around to the back end of his cruiser and he sat on the bumper and ate with Lynn, having something of a picnic.

That police officer was Luke Bonin and a passerby took a photo of the two eating together and posted it to Facebook. It has been shared more than 100,000 times.

Says Lynn: “I thought he was just going to hand me the meal but when he said: “Come around the back, it’s such a beautiful day, we’ll have a picnic,’ I thought that was… it touched my heart.”

The state police department also posted the photo on their website, and explained it with this: “He very reluctantly told us how he ended up sitting on his cruiser’s bumper that day sharing lunch with a stranger. Trooper Bonin had just left court when he drove by the woman, who appeared down on her luck. She was holding a sign and asking for help from anyone who would pay attention.

Trooper Bonin continued to drive on – directly to a local establishment, where he ordered two meals. He returned to the woman, pulled up, and exited his cruiser. Thinking he was there to remove her from the side of the road, she immediately stated to him that she would leave, that she knew she shouldn’t be there with her sign. But Trooper Bonin told her, “I’m not here to kick you out.” He then extended the two meals and told her to pick one.

They then sat, shared a meal, and a conversation.

Yes, Trooper Bonin, we know you do not want or expect publicity. We know you didn’t want to be noticed, but you were, and the job is proud of you. We commend you for your selfless act, and for “doing the right thing” for someone less fortunate than most people.

We have extraordinary troopers on the Massachusetts State Police who conduct themselves honorably, and perform selfless acts, every day. Most times, it goes unnoticed. But not this day.”

This is my 14 yr old daughter, we were on the way home and she saw a elementary kid sitting under a tree in a shopping center. She said it's too hot moma stop the car. She then asked the boy where are your parents? The boy said idk ‍♂️. She said can u call them? He said I only have my dads number. She let him call his dad also not standing too close so he wouldn't be afraid. Then she told him to get off the street and go in front of the rite aid so strangers won't try to get him and he can run in the store if need be. Then she said moma let's wait til he gets picked up and I might have to get him some water if it's not soon. This is why I will never let a person tear me down as a mother. This is just confirmation of the kind of children I'm raising Queens and kings
