Billionaire investor George Soros spoke to Bloomberg TV in Davos, and said the euphoria among stock investors since the victory of President-elect Donald Trump will end as uncertainty takes over.

Talking his book, Soros said that "uncertainty is at a peak and actually uncertainty is the enemy of long-term investment," The chairman of Soros Fund Management added "I don’t think the markets are going to do very well. Right now they’re still celebrating but when reality comes it will prevail."

"When reality comes, it will hurt markets" he warned.

As a reminder, the WSJ reported last week that Soros lost nearly $1 billion as a result of the stock-market rally spurred by Trump’s surprise win in November. Soros became more pessimistic immediately after Trump’s election. But stocks rallied on expectations that Trump’s policies will boost corporate earnings and the overall economy.

The key highlight of the Soros interview, however, was his vicious slam of his nemesis, Donald Trump, saying "I have described him as an impostor and con man, and a would be dictator" and said that "I'm personally convinced he's going to fail" because the "the policies that guide him are inherently self-contradictory."

He said that "Trump would be a dictator if he could get away with it" but believes that the Constitution of the United States is strong enough to prevent Trump from taking too much power.

As a reminder, Soros was one of Hillary Clinton's biggest donors, and has spent millions to prevent Trump from entering the White House.

He also said that it's impossible to predict exactly how Trump will act because he hasn't actively thought it through, he was surprised when he won. He added that he only started thinking seriously about what he would do after he was elected.

Some other notable quotes via Forexlive:

Trump stands for a government that's the opposite of an open society, something like a dictatorship or a mafia state
Trump believes his ideas are the will of the people so anyone who is against him is against the people
Markets will falter as uncertainty takes over

Speaking about Europe and the UK, he said that Europe is in the process of disintegration, and the process must be reversed: "EU has become too complicated and people are alienated." He believes that he has overstated the dangers of European disintegration and says that the continent is "not going to disintegrate", as neither Putin nor China want that outcome.

He forecast that "if Europe breaks down, the consequences will be very dire, it's currently going on the wrong direction." He said that "Brexit will be a long process" and that it is "unlikely that Theresa May will remain in power, she already has a divided cabinet."

He predicted that inflation will be the force that will lead to declining living standards in the UK but said that it would take some time.

Going back to China and Trump, Soros then said that Trump is definitely gearing up for a trade war with China which is irreconcilable with economic prosperity. He pointed out that, ironically, Trump would do more to make China an acceptable leader of the international community than Chinese could do by themselves.

He also predicted that China is in the process of forming a trade bloc, and that if Trump names China a currency manipulator, they will retaliate.

Finally, on the topic of China, he also warned that a trade war can easily spiral in a real military conflict.

To move forward, he called for cohesion among for unity and said that he hopes "the people who believe in an open society can get together."

He concluded by expressing his frustration with the recent Hungarian crackdown on his various NGOs, reading from a pre-written statement and saying that the processes taking place in his native country impair human values and democracy.

George Soros says Trump will fail and market's dream will end

The billionaire investor George Soros said on Thursday that global markets will falter given the uncertainty of incoming U.S. President Donald Trump's policies.
"Right now uncertainty is at the peak," Soros told Bloomberg News at his annual media dinner held at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "I don't think the markets are going to do very well."

Stocks in the United States surged after Trump's November 8 election victory. Trump takes office on Friday.

"Markets see Trump dismantling regulations and reducing taxes, and that has been the dream," said Soros. "The dream has come true."

But Trump has called for border taxes and withdrawing from his predecessor's Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, among other policies that have unclear ramifications for U.S. growth, Soros said.

"It's impossible to predict exactly how Trump is going to act," he said.

Soros, who founded Soros Fund Management LLC and now is chairman of the New York-based firm, was a large contributor to the Super PAC fund-raising group backing Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and had donated to other groups supporting Democrats.

Overall, Soros said about the president-elect: "I personally am convinced that he is going to fail. Not because of people like me who would like him to fail. But because his ideas that guide him are inherently self-contradictory and the contradictions are actually already embodied by his advisers ... and his cabinet."

Turning to the United Kingdom, Soros said it is unlikely that Prime Minister Theresa May will "remain in power" given divisions within her government.

May on Tuesday laid out plans for Britain to negotiate its exit from the European Union. Soros said that process will be long and that "a bitter divorce" will hurt both sides.

Soros famously made huge profits in 1992 betting against the British pound as it crashed below the preset level and had to be withdrawn from the European Exchange Rate Mechanism.

China has an interest in European unity because of the bloc's importance as an export market, Soros said.

He said President Xi Jinping, who on Tuesday made a case for China's leadership in Davos, can steer his country to either a more open society or a more closed society, while nudging it to a more sustainable economic growth model.

"Trump will do more to make China acceptable as a leading member of the international community than the Chinese could do by themselves," Soros said.

the WSJ reported last week that Soros lost nearly $1 billion as a result of the stock-market rally spurred by Trump’s surprise win in November

That would mean that Soros: 1) bet on Hillary to win 2) bet on the markets going down when she DID win.

Interesting.....

Trump and Putin need to work out a deal, and we know how Trump loves a good deal. Trump lets the KGB in the country to kidnap Soros back to mother Russia and then Putin throws his old ass in a Siberian gulag. Win-win for both leaders and send a message to Soros' kids, play nice or you may end up like your dad.

Talk all he wants now- but soon he will burn in hell..

A scorched soul for ever. How very sad , but it is his choice, and decision to align with the dark side.

I think Soros is making statements from a position of fear.

He might have some idea that Trump will put a target on him.

If such a thing as "the spawn of Satan" exists, it'd be Soros. Evil to the core... and apparently proud of it. I've never understood mans inhumanity to man. I just don't get it, but then again, I'm a Christian. I get the idea of sin, but the hardcore evil is so illogical. Guess stupid is as stupid does...from a Biblical sense.
